The Galaxy S26’s clearest differences from the base Galaxy S25 are a slightly larger display and a higher rated battery capacity. Samsung lists the same rear-camera layout and resolution for both. Choose the S26 if you value its larger screen and newer generation at the price offered in your market; consider the S25 if it costs meaningfully less and its smaller screen and battery suit you.

The dimensions and weights above are from Samsung Germany’s European model listings; other regional configurations may differ. Samsung UK’s comparison uses the full-rectangle display diagonals; Samsung Germany also gives rounded-corner measurements of 6.1 inches for the S26 and 6.0 inches for the S25. What actually changes between the two phones?
A marginally bigger screen on the S26
Samsung lists the S26 at 6.3 inches and the S25 at 6.2 inches. Both are FHD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X panels with an adaptive refresh rate up to 120Hz. The S26 gives you a little more screen area, but the specification comparison does not show a higher resolution class or refresh-rate ceiling. Because the S26 is also wider and taller in Samsung Germany’s figures, the screen increase comes with a slightly larger handset rather than the same-sized body.

More rated battery capacity, not proven longer runtime
The S26’s typical capacity is listed as 4,300mAh, versus 4,000mAh for the S25. That is a capacity difference, not a battery-life test: it does not tell you how long either phone lasts under your mix of screen brightness, apps, network use, and other conditions. The official figures do not establish an independent, real-world endurance advantage.

The listed camera hardware is the same
Samsung lists a 50MP main camera, 12MP ultrawide, and 10MP telephoto with 3x optical zoom on both base models, as well as a 12MP front camera. The published specifications therefore do not make the S26 a camera-resolution upgrade over the S25. They also do not settle whether image processing or photo quality differs; that requires direct testing.
Size and weight may matter more than the screen diagonal
For Samsung Germany’s European models, the S26 measures 149.6 × 71.7 × 7.2mm and weighs about 167g; the S25 measures 146.9 × 70.5 × 7.2mm and weighs about 162g. If one-hand comfort is important, those differences may matter more than the modest screen increase. Try the phones in hand if possible, especially if you are choosing the S25 partly for a more compact feel.

Which one should you buy?
Choose the Galaxy S26 if…
- You prefer the slightly larger 6.3-inch display.
- The higher rated battery capacity is appealing, while recognizing that it is not proof of longer runtime.
- You want the newer generation and its actual price premium in your country is acceptable.
Choose the Galaxy S25 if…
- Its current like-for-like price is meaningfully lower.
- You prefer a slightly smaller and lighter phone.
- The listed camera arrangement meets your needs and you do not need to move to the newer generation for another specific reason.
Samsung UK says the S26 series was announced on 25 February 2026 and became available to buy from 11 March 2026. Those are UK series-launch dates, not a guarantee of retail timing in every country. Samsung’s UK comparison gives those dates.
Compare local prices and configurations fairly
There is no universal S26-versus-S25 price gap: prices and availability depend on market, retailer, storage, carrier status, and timing. Compare the same country and seller, matching storage and whether the phone is unlocked or carrier-specific. For an S25 deal, check whether it is new, refurbished, or used, and compare warranty and return terms as well as the headline price.

Regional listings are not interchangeable. For example, Samsung US’s product page is a US-specific unlocked 256GB S26 listing; it does not establish a matched S25 price or prices in other countries. Samsung Germany identifies the European base-model codes as SM-S942B for S26 and SM-S931B for S25. Confirm that a listing matches the model and configuration sold in your region.

- Camera quality: matching megapixel counts and lens types do not establish identical or different photo results.

For those questions, look for current independent side-by-side testing of the exact regional models you are considering. Samsung’s specifications are useful for the hardware comparison, but they are not substitutes for those tests.
