The closest rivals are the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra and the Google Pixel 10 Pro XL. Choose the Galaxy if you want the biggest screen, a 200 MP main camera and Samsung’s published seven-year update promise. Choose the Pixel XL if you prefer Google’s software and camera tools, a slightly smaller body and Qi2 magnetic wireless charging. If 6.8 inches is too big, Google’s Pixel 10 Pro is the compact option. The manufacturers’ own specifications support those distinctions. They don’t show which phone takes better photos or lasts longer on a charge, so this article doesn’t claim that.
Which models are being compared
Samsung’s Galaxy S26 Ultra launched in March 2026, according to Samsung’s first-quarter 2026 interim report. It runs Android 16 with One UI 8.5. Google’s current Pro lineup on its US Store specification page has two sizes, and they differ in more than screen size:

- Pixel 10 Pro XL has a 6.8-inch display and is the closest match for the Galaxy Ultra.
- Pixel 10 Pro has a 6.3-inch display, a smaller battery and slower charging. Use its figures only when you are specifically considering the smaller phone.
The figures below come from Samsung’s US product page, Samsung’s interim report and environmental report, and Google’s US Store specifications. Regional models, carrier variants, bundled accessories and warranty terms can differ outside the US.

Size and handling
The Galaxy and the Pixel XL are close in size: 6.9 versus 6.8 inches. By the published weights, the Pixel XL is the heavier phone, at roughly 232 g against 214 g. The Pixel 10 Pro is the lighter and more pocketable of the Pixels. Spec sheets can’t tell you how a phone feels in your hand, so try them in a shop if you can.
Cameras: hardware versus results
The Galaxy’s 200 MP main sensor is the headline number. The Pixel XL uses a 50 MP main camera and a dedicated 48 MP 5x telephoto. Megapixel counts don’t predict image quality. Sensor size, lens, processing and how each phone handles skin tones, low light and zoom matter more. No independent head-to-head result is established here, so read recent hands-on camera comparisons before deciding on photo quality alone.

The feature sets differ. Google lists Camera Coach, Add Me, Macro Focus and Magic Eraser. It also markets Pro Zoom up to 100x, a claim about its processing that you shouldn’t read as native optical reach. Samsung’s approach, as documented in the sources used here, centres on its high-resolution main sensor and proactive AI features in One UI 8.5.

On paper the Pixel XL has the larger battery, 5,200 mAh typical against the Galaxy’s 5,000 mAh. Capacity alone doesn’t determine endurance, because the chip, screen size, software and your usage all affect it. No controlled battery test was established.

Check the Pixel’s charging terms before you count on them. Google’s 70%-in-30-minutes figure needs a 45W or higher USB-C PPS charger, which is sold separately. Its 25W Qi2 wireless rate requires a Qi2-certified Pixelsnap charger. The smaller Pixel 10 Pro’s figures are lower: 55% in about 30 minutes with a 30W PPS charger, and 15W wireless. A charging figure for the S26 Ultra wasn’t established in the sources reviewed, so confirm it on Samsung’s page.

Samsung’s built-in Privacy Display is a distinctive feature of the Ultra. It is aimed at people who often use their phone where others can see the screen, such as on trains and in shared offices. The Pixels run Google’s own software on Tensor G5, with Google’s camera and editing tools.

Support length is where Samsung has the clearer published commitment. Its environmental report says: “Galaxy S26 Ultra has IP68 water resistance and dust protection, and we provide seven generations of OS upgrades and seven years of security updates from the global launch date.” That is Samsung’s own statement, and the clock starts at global launch, not at your purchase date. If you buy late, you get less than seven years. The Google Store specifications reviewed don’t state a Pixel support period, so check Google’s current policy for the exact Pixel model before treating support length as a tiebreaker.
