The Galaxy S26+ is a strong large-screen Samsung phone, but its case rests on the display, battery and performance rather than on camera hardware or value. Its 6.7-inch screen and endurance are the reasons to buy it. Its incremental changes over the S25+, a camera set that lacks the S26 Ultra’s extra hardware, and a starting price that has risen since launch are the reasons to hesitate.
Key specifications at a glance
The S26 series was announced by Samsung on February 25, 2026, with general availability from March 11, 2026. The table below uses Samsung’s published figures where they exist. Cells marked “not stated” are values the sources reviewed for this article did not report.

Pros
- Display. The 6.7-inch QHD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X panel with adaptive refresh up to 120Hz is the phone’s most visible strength, and GSMArena’s review calls it a high-quality LTPO AMOLED display with premium build quality. Samsung lists peak brightness of up to 2,600 nits for the series; that is a manufacturer specification, not an independently confirmed typical brightness.
- Battery life. Samsung’s UK comparison page claims up to 31 hours of video playback, without stating the test conditions in the source. Tom’s Guide measured 13 hours 13 minutes in its own battery test. These are different methods, so the two figures should not be compared directly. GSMArena rates battery life as very good. The phone’s battery capacity is 4,900mAh.
- Sustained performance. GSMArena found sustained CPU performance strong on its Exynos 2600 review unit. That result applies to that chipset only and should not be extended to the Snapdragon version sold in the U.S.
- Software support. GSMArena reports seven years of Android updates and security patches. Support windows can differ by region, so confirm the policy for your market before relying on it.
- Selfie camera and video tools. Reviewers note an autofocus-equipped selfie camera and versatile video features, including LUT support and Horizon Lock.
Cons
- The upgrade from the S25+ is small. GSMArena describes the S26+ and S25+ as nearly identical. The changes it identifies are a new chipset, slight design revisions and faster wireless charging.
- The camera hardware is familiar. Tom’s Guide says the S26+ camera hardware is inherited from the S25+, with software changes. The phone has a 3x telephoto lens rather than the Ultra’s multiple telephoto cameras, and GSMArena notes that it lacks the Ultra’s additional video modes.
- It sits in the middle of the lineup. It is larger and more expensive than the S26 and lacks the Ultra’s S Pen and extra camera hardware. Buyers who want one of those features will find the choice harder to justify.
- Review-specific technical drawbacks. GSMArena’s review found no 10-bit display depth, high-frequency PWM, no Dolby Vision support, an unintuitive Night mode implementation and charging speeds that lag some competitors. These are findings from one review, not industry-wide consensus.
- The price has moved. The starting price rose after launch; the figures and dates are in the price section below.
Chipset depends on where you buy
Tom’s Guide reports that the Galaxy S26+ uses Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy in the U.S. and Exynos 2600 in many other markets, including the U.K. Before you compare benchmarks or performance claims, confirm the country and model variant you are buying. A review of one chipset does not describe the other.

Use these checks to decide whether the S26+ is the right model:
Rank #2
- TYPE IT IN. TRANSFORM IT FAST: Enhance any shot in seconds on your smartphone by using Photo Assist² with Galaxy AI.³ Add objects, restore details, or apply new styles by simply typing or tapping
- MAKE IT. EDIT IT. SHARE IT: Turn everyday moments into something personal with creative tools built right into your mobile phone, whether it’s a special contact photo, custom wallpaper, an invitation or more³

- FIT EVERYONE IN THE SHOT: Group selfies are easier on your Samsung phone with a wider front camera⁴ that captures more of the scene, so no one gets left out of the moment
- Screen size. Choose the S26+ if you want the 6.7-inch screen. The S26 is 6.3 inches, and the Ultra is 6.9 inches.
- Zoom and camera hardware. The S26 and S26+ share the same listed rear camera set. If you need the Ultra’s additional telephoto hardware, the S26+ will not meet that need.
- Size, handling and price. The S26+ costs more than the S26. Weigh the larger screen against the higher price and the bulkier handling that comes with it.
- Chipset in your market. Confirm whether your region ships Snapdragon or Exynos before you rely on performance results.
- Battery and charging. The S26+ battery is 4,900mAh, but the sources do not state the battery capacity of the S26 or the Ultra, so you cannot compare endurance across the three models from these sources.
- S Pen and Ultra-only features. If you want an S Pen or the Ultra’s extra video capabilities, the S26+ is not the right model.
In short, the S26+ suits buyers who want a large, smooth screen and long battery life without an S Pen, and who accept the S25+-level camera hardware. Buyers who do not need the bigger screen should compare the S26 first. Buyers who want zoom flexibility or an S Pen should look at the Ultra.
