Choose Samsung for optical zoom
The Galaxy S26 FE’s listed rear-camera system includes an 8 MP telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom alongside its main and ultra-wide cameras. That gives it a dedicated lens for zoomed-in shots, rather than relying only on the main and ultra-wide cameras.
Compare the Redmi on more than megapixels
The Redmi’s cited global specifications list a 50 MP main camera with OIS and an 8 MP ultra-wide, but no telephoto camera. Its front camera is listed at 16 MP versus 12 MP for Samsung. Those pixel counts do not, by themselves, prove which phone takes better photos or selfies; the clearest documented difference is Samsung’s dedicated optical-zoom option.

Which has the better display and battery on paper?
Redmi: larger, higher-resolution screen and bigger listed battery
Xiaomi Global lists a 6.83-inch AMOLED display at 2772 × 1280 resolution and up to 120 Hz. Its listed typical battery capacity is 8,340 mAh. Samsung UK lists a 6.7-inch FHD+ display and a 4,900 mAh battery. The Redmi therefore has the larger and higher-resolution listed panel, as well as the greater stated capacity. Capacity and display specifications are not runtime or screen-quality tests.

Xiaomi lists 67 W wired HyperCharge. Samsung UK lists 45 W wired charging and 15 W wireless charging. The Redmi has the higher stated wired charging rate; Samsung is the one with a listed wireless-charging option. Charging rates alone do not establish real-world charging time.

How does software support compare?
Samsung’s UK page says the Galaxy S26 FE launches with One UI 9 based on Android 17 and guarantees seven major Android OS upgrades plus up to seven years of security patches. Xiaomi Global’s cited page lists HyperOS 3 but does not give a comparable support duration. On the available manufacturer specifications, Samsung makes the more explicit long-term update commitment; the cited Xiaomi page does not establish how many years of updates the Redmi will receive.
Check the regional version before buying
Specifications and included features can vary by market, so do not assume a global product page describes every country’s exact phone. For example, Xiaomi India lists a 9,000 mAh typical battery for the Redmi Note 17 Pro 5G, compared with 8,340 mAh on Xiaomi Global’s page. This is a regional specification difference, not a figure to combine with the global model’s other specs.
