But it is not an automatic bargain: its FHD+ display is less sharp than the Galaxy S26 Plus’s, and TechRadar found its ultra-wide and telephoto cameras weaker than its main camera. Whether it is good value depends on your local price, the storage configuration and how much you value those trade-offs.
What the Galaxy S26 FE offers
Samsung announced the Galaxy S26 FE globally on August 27, 2026, followed by an India launch on September 14. It is a large-screen Galaxy S-series phone running One UI 9, which Samsung UK describes as based on Android 17. The India specification lists an Exynos 2500 processor and 8GB of RAM; storage options and some other configurations vary by market.

The core package is a 6.7-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display, a 4,900mAh battery and three rear cameras. Samsung’s India launch specifications list a peak refresh rate of up to 120Hz and peak brightness of up to 1,900 nits. Those are manufacturer specifications, not a guarantee that the screen runs at those maxima in every setting.

Is the display good enough?
The screen’s size and refresh rate suit video, games and scrolling. The trade-off is resolution: TechRadar identifies the panel as FHD+ (1080 × 2340), while the Galaxy S26 Plus has a sharper QHD panel. If crisp fine detail is a priority, the Plus has the edge; if you mainly want a large, fluid screen, the FE’s specifications are still well suited to everyday use.

How good are the cameras?
The rear camera hardware comprises a 50MP main camera, a 12MP ultra-wide and an 8MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom. The front camera is 12MP. The set covers common needs from standard shots to wider scenes and zoom, but the megapixel counts alone do not establish how consistently each lens performs.
In its review, TechRadar rated the main and selfie cameras more favorably than the ultra-wide and telephoto cameras. It also found the latter two lagged the main camera. Samsung’s AI features, including Photo Assist and My FanCam, add editing and video-framing tools, but they do not remove the underlying difference in image quality between lenses. Samsung says My FanCam can automatically reframe video around a selected person; feature operation and availability can vary.

Battery, charging and long-term support
Samsung specifies a 4,900mAh battery and 45W wired charging. The company says a 45W adapter can charge the phone to up to 69% in about 30 minutes. That is Samsung’s stated charging figure, and the adapter is a condition of the claim; the available information does not establish whether one is included in every regional box. TechRadar lists 15W wireless charging and reports good battery endurance in its review.

Samsung promises up to seven generations of OS upgrades and seven years of security updates. Samsung UK describes the commitment as seven major Android OS upgrades and up to seven years of security patches. What the review results say about performance
TechRadar’s review describes the phone as capable for everyday use and gaming, with gaming performance among its positives. In that publication’s 2026 testing, it recorded 2,361 single-core and 7,831 multi-core in Geekbench 6, and 10,526 in 3DMark Solar Bay. These are TechRadar’s test results, not Samsung-published scores; they are useful as that review’s measurements rather than a promise of identical results in every workload.
Is the Galaxy S26 FE good value?
TechRadar reported these launch prices for the configurations and markets it covered. They are launch figures, not current offers; retail prices and availability may have changed since launch.

- The Galaxy S25 FE features a large, immersive Dynamic AMOLED display with smooth refresh rate and enhanced brightness, delivering vivid colors and sharp clarity whether you're streaming, browsing, or using it outdoors.
| Storage | US launch price | UK launch price | Australia launch price |
|---|---|---|---|
| 128GB | $699 | £699 | AU$1,149 |
| 256GB | $799 | £799 | AU$1,299 |
| 512GB | No US option in TechRadar’s table | £949 | AU$1,599 |
TechRadar reported the standard Galaxy S26 at a US launch price of $899, but its comparison notes that the S26 starts with twice the storage. A lower entry price therefore does not settle which phone is the better buy: compare the storage you actually need and the current local prices after promotions. The S26 Plus costs more but offers a sharper display, so it may make sense if screen detail matters enough to justify the difference. A broad claim that the FE is a bargain is not supported by launch price alone.

- Consider the FE if you want a large 120Hz screen, Samsung’s stated long update commitment, a versatile camera setup and a phone that TechRadar found capable for everyday use and gaming.
- Look closely at the S26 Plus if a higher-resolution display is important to you.
- Compare alternatives before buying if ultra-wide or zoom photography is a priority: TechRadar found those cameras less convincing than the main camera.
- Check the exact local configuration before deciding. Storage, colors, charging details and prices can differ by market, and launch pricing is not a substitute for a current offer.
Verdict
The Galaxy S26 FE’s appeal is its combination of a large, smooth display, useful everyday performance, fast wired charging and a substantial manufacturer support promise. Its main compromises are the FHD+ resolution relative to the S26 Plus and the weaker ultra-wide and telephoto cameras in TechRadar’s review. It is a sensible option when its current price and included storage make those trade-offs worthwhile—not a guaranteed mid-range bargain at every launch price.
