The Galaxy S26 FE looks like a capable phone, but current reviews question whether its upgrades justify its launch pricing. Android Central’s October 6, 2026 review judged it poor value at a US price point of $700, while WIRED’s September 11 review said the phone was good in isolation but its changes over the previous FE model did not make the higher price compelling. Whether it is worth buying depends on the price and configuration available where you live—and what you value most.
What the Galaxy S26 FE is—and what Samsung says it offers
Samsung announced the Galaxy S26 FE on August 27, 2026, describing it as the latest addition to the Galaxy S26 family. The company said it would become available in select markets starting September 4, and identified it as the first S26-series phone to launch with One UI 9. Samsung’s launch materials emphasize the camera and Galaxy AI features. Those are manufacturer descriptions, not independent proof that the phone delivers a flagship-level experience or that its price is justified.

Why reviewers question its value
The criticism is about the deal, not a claim that the phone is unusable. Android Central’s October 6 review calls the S26 FE solid but says it is not the best value at its cited US price point of $700. WIRED’s September 11 review similarly finds it good as a phone in isolation, but argues that the limited substantial changes from its predecessor do not support the higher price.

Galaxy S26 FE vs. Galaxy S26
Android Central identifies the smaller Galaxy S26 as a relevant alternative for buyers who prioritize the camera and processor. It also describes the FE as the larger-screen choice, while noting the regular S26’s smaller screen and battery as trade-offs. That makes the S26 a potentially better fit for some priorities, not an automatic upgrade for every buyer.

The S26 FE can still be a reasonable buy if you want the larger-screen option and find it at a price that makes sense against both the previous FE model and the regular S26. Samsung’s stated camera and Galaxy AI features may also matter to your choice, but the announcement alone does not establish how they compare in practice. Treat the value judgment as price- and preference-dependent rather than as a verdict that applies to every offer or buyer.
