Galaxy S26 vs. S25: what’s the difference?
The documented differences are clearest for the base model and Ultra. Samsung Ireland lists the base S26 with a slightly larger display, more weight and a higher typical battery capacity than the S25. For the Ultra, Samsung lists a wider-aperture main camera and faster wired charging on S26 Ultra. These are manufacturer specifications, not independent performance or battery-life test results.

Which Galaxy S26 model should you choose?
Galaxy S26: prioritize a more compact phone
Samsung positions the base S26 as the portable option. Its Ireland comparison lists a 6.3-inch display, 167g weight and 4,300mAh typical battery capacity, with 256GB and 512GB storage. It is the sensible starting point if you want a smaller phone than the Plus or Ultra and do not need the Ultra’s camera features or S Pen.
Galaxy S26+: choose a larger screen without going Ultra
The S26+ has a 6.7-inch QHD+ display and a 4,900mAh typical battery capacity in Samsung’s Ireland comparison. Samsung lists 256GB and 512GB configurations. It occupies the middle ground for buyers who want a larger display than the base model but do not need the Ultra’s specific features.

Galaxy S26 Ultra: choose it for its camera, S Pen or Privacy Display
The S26 Ultra has a 6.9-inch display and a 200MP main camera with an f/1.4 aperture in Samsung’s comparison. Samsung also lists S Pen support and describes Privacy Display as a built-in feature. It is the only S26 tier listed with 1TB storage. Consider it when those specific features matter enough to justify choosing the largest model; do not treat Samsung’s brightness claim as proof of overall camera superiority.

There is a discrepancy for the US base S26: Samsung’s March 2026 US MSRP sheet lists a 128GB unlocked SKU at $799.99, alongside 256GB at $899.99 and 512GB at $1,099.99. However, Samsung’s S26 launch announcement lists 256GB and 512GB as the base model’s configurations, as do its UK and Ireland materials. The price sheet does not establish that the 128GB phone is currently orderable. Verify the current Samsung product page and local carrier catalogue before relying on that configuration.
How much storage should you get?
Start with the storage used on your current phone, especially photos, videos, downloaded media and large apps. Then compare the price premium for the next capacity with the amount of content you expect to keep locally. Samsung cautions that preloaded software reduces usable storage, so the advertised capacity is not all available for your files.

- Choose the lower listed capacity if your current library fits comfortably and you regularly remove or move content.
- Consider 512GB if your local media and app library is already substantial, or the price difference is reasonable for the extra headroom.
- Consider 1TB only on the Ultra models where listed, if keeping a particularly large amount of content on the phone is important to you.
There is no reliable fixed number of years or users that a capacity will suit: needs depend on what you store, how quickly your library grows, and the capacity premium in your market.
