In the U.S., their announced starting prices were $799.99 for a 128GB Galaxy S25 and $1,099 for a 256GB iPhone 17 Pro—a $299.01 gap, but not a same-storage comparison. Apple publishes detailed iPhone specifications; the available Samsung sources do not establish enough matching figures to declare a numerical hardware winner.
Price difference: compare launch prices, not unlike-for-like listings
The figures below are U.S. launch starting prices from 2025, not a current same-day retail comparison. The entry configurations have different storage capacities.

| Phone | U.S. launch starting price | Entry storage | Price context |
|---|---|---|---|
| Samsung Galaxy S25 | $799.99 | 128GB | Samsung announced 128GB and 256GB options. Samsung’s 2025 launch announcement. |
| Apple iPhone 17 Pro | $1,099 | 256GB | Apple’s 2025 launch starting price; listed capacities are 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB. Apple’s launch announcement and technical specifications. |
Subtracting the two launch starting prices gives $299.01 more for the iPhone 17 Pro. That arithmetic compares a 256GB iPhone with a 128GB Galaxy S25, so it does not show what either phone costs at equal capacity.
Samsung’s U.S. purchase page has also shown an unlocked 256GB Galaxy S25 at $899.99. This is a page listing snapshot, not a guaranteed current price or a market-wide figure; it should not be subtracted from Apple’s 2025 launch price and presented as today’s price gap. For a purchase decision, check both manufacturers or retailers at the same time and compare the same storage capacity, condition, and offer terms. Samsung’s 256GB purchase page.

Specs: what the official figures establish
Apple’s technical page gives a detailed set of iPhone 17 Pro specifications. The Samsung sources cited here confirm storage options and charger-box information, but do not provide a verified set of matching display, processor, camera, or battery figures. That makes a full numerical specs table—and a spec-sheet winner—unjustified on this evidence.
iPhone 17 Pro display and size
Apple lists a 6.3-inch OLED Super Retina XDR display with ProMotion adaptive refresh rates up to 120Hz, a resolution of 2622 by 1206 pixels at 460 pixels per inch, and a weight of 206g. These are manufacturer specifications, not measurements from an independent comparison. Apple iPhone 17 Pro technical specifications.

iPhone 17 Pro cameras
Apple lists three 48MP rear cameras: main, ultra-wide, and telephoto. Its telephoto system offers 4x optical telephoto and 8x optical-quality telephoto framing. The front camera is 18MP with Center Stage. Those figures describe hardware and framing modes; they do not establish that the iPhone takes better photos than the Galaxy S25. Image quality depends on the scene and processing, and a winner requires a controlled side-by-side comparison.
Processor and storage
Apple identifies the iPhone 17 Pro’s processor as A19 Pro and lists 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB capacities. Samsung’s 2025 launch announcement lists 128GB and 256GB Galaxy S25 options. Pick storage based on your expected photo and video library, downloaded media, and app use; the launch-price comparison starts with twice as much storage on the iPhone.

Software, AI, and the ecosystem you already use
The choice is also between iOS on the iPhone and Samsung’s Android-based One UI experience on the Galaxy. Existing devices and services can matter more than a feature list: consider where your photos are stored, which messaging and wearable devices you use, and whether you rely on platform-specific apps or workflows.
Samsung promotes Galaxy AI and One UI features in its launch materials; Apple lists Apple Intelligence. These are company feature descriptions, not independent measures of usefulness or quality. Availability and supported features can vary by region, language, and software release, so confirm that a particular feature is available for your location and intended language before treating it as a deciding factor. The available sources do not establish that either ecosystem is superior overall.

Battery, charging, and what comes in the box
Apple rates the iPhone 17 Pro for up to 33 hours of video playback. That is an Apple manufacturer claim, and actual battery life varies with use; it is not a head-to-head result against the Galaxy S25. Apple also lists MagSafe wireless charging up to 25W with the stated adapter setup. Apple’s technical specifications.

Neither phone’s listed box contents include a wall charger in the cited material. Samsung says a charger is not included with the Galaxy S25; Apple says the iPhone 17 Pro box includes a USB-C cable but no power adapter or EarPods. If you do not already have a compatible adapter, factor that accessory into the cost.

Which phone should you choose?
- Choose the Galaxy S25 if its Android and Samsung experience suits your existing devices and services, and its actual offer gives you the storage and price you want.
- Choose the iPhone 17 Pro if you want iOS, Apple’s listed camera configuration and telephoto framing options, or its 256GB base storage—and the price works for you.
- Compare current offers before deciding if price is the deciding factor. Use the same date, market, storage capacity, and purchase conditions for both phones.
Samsung Electronics’ mobile-business president TM Roh described the Galaxy S25 series at launch as “a fundamental shift in how we interact with our phones.” That is Samsung’s launch positioning, not an independent assessment of the phone or a comparison with the iPhone.
