Galaxy S25: a conventional 6.2-inch phone
Samsung lists the S25 with a 6.2-inch full-rectangle Dynamic AMOLED 2X display, FHD+ resolution of 2340 × 1080 and a refresh rate of up to 120 Hz. It weighs 162 g. Its single-screen design is the more straightforward choice if you want a lighter phone for everyday use without unfolding it.

Galaxy Z Fold8: two screens, with a larger one inside
The Fold8 has a 6.5-inch cover display for use while closed and a 7.6-inch main display when unfolded. At Samsung’s listed 201 g, it is 39 g heavier than the S25. The extra room is useful if you expect to read, watch video or work across multiple apps on the inner screen. If you would mostly use it closed like an ordinary phone, that extra screen area may not justify the price and weight.

Samsung lists the S25 battery as rated capacity and the Fold8 battery as typical capacity, so those figures are not directly comparable battery-life measurements. The Fold8’s “up to 26 hours” video-playback figure is a manufacturer claim, not a controlled head-to-head test; actual playback varies with network, settings, file format, brightness, battery condition and other factors. Cameras: S25 has a dedicated telephoto lens
The S25’s rear camera setup includes a 10 MP telephoto camera with 3× optical zoom, alongside 50 MP wide and 12 MP ultrawide cameras. Samsung lists the Fold8 with a 50 MP wide and 50 MP ultrawide rear camera. If a dedicated telephoto camera and optical zoom are important to you, the listed hardware gives the S25 a specific advantage to consider. Megapixel counts alone do not establish which phone takes better photos; this comparison does not include independent camera testing.

Fold8 limitations to check before buying

Choose the Galaxy S25 if
- You prefer a lighter, conventional phone rather than a foldable.
- You want the S25’s dedicated 3× optical telephoto camera.
- You would rather pay substantially less than the Fold8’s listed US price.
Choose the Galaxy Z Fold8 if
- You expect to use the unfolded 7.6-inch screen regularly for reading, watching video or multitasking.
- The book-style foldable design matters more to you than minimizing weight and cost.
- You are comfortable with its higher listed price and its lack of S Pen and FlexMode support.
