Where the specifications differ
Screen size and resolution
The S25 Ultra has the larger listed screen and higher resolution: Samsung specifies a 6.9-inch QHD+ panel, while Xiaomi lists a 6.59-inch 1.5K panel. Both are specified at up to 120Hz. Manufacturer measurements can account for rounded corners differently, and brightness figures should not be treated as directly comparable test results unless the measurement methods and conditions match.
Processor and memory
The phones use different processor platforms: Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy in Samsung’s model and MediaTek Dimensity 8500-Ultra in Xiaomi’s. Both cited configurations have 12GB of RAM. Component names alone do not establish which phone will feel faster or sustain performance better in a particular workload.

Camera systems and zoom
Samsung lists four rear cameras, including separate 3x and 5x optical telephoto cameras. Xiaomi promotes a Leica 5x periscope telephoto, but the cited official specification excerpt does not expose all of that camera’s sensor details. Those hardware descriptions show different camera coverage; they do not establish which phone takes better photos without comparable testing.

Xiaomi lists a 6,500mAh typical battery and 67W wired charging, compared with Samsung’s 5,000mAh typical battery. These are manufacturer specifications, not a measured battery-life comparison or guaranteed charging time; actual results depend on use and conditions.

Choose by priorities, not a spec-sheet winner
- Consider the Xiaomi 17T if the lower cited UK price, lighter and smaller body, larger stated battery capacity, or 67W charging specification matters most to you.
- Consider the Galaxy S25 Ultra if you want the larger, higher-resolution listed display, two specified optical telephoto focal lengths, or a 1TB storage option.
These are differences in listed hardware and dated UK price references, not an overall performance or camera verdict. The cited sources do not provide a controlled head-to-head comparison of camera quality, speed or battery life.
What to check before buying
- Compare the same storage size and current price in your country; the figures above are UK references, not universal prices.
- Check the local model’s network bands and warranty. Xiaomi notes that network-band support varies by region.
- Check what is included in the box: Samsung UK says a travel adapter is not included, and Xiaomi Global says a power adapter is not included.
- Remember that Xiaomi says usable RAM and storage are lower than the total listed because system software occupies some space.
Samsung announced general availability for the S25 series from 7 February 2025. Its cited UK prices are launch RRPs rather than guaranteed present-day offers. Samsung’s worldwide availability announcement gives the launch timing. For a current Samsung UK listing, see the Galaxy S25 Ultra buy page; availability and pricing can change.
