It does not support Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE), so it cannot pair, charge, trigger Air actions or provide location tracking. Samsung promises seven generations of Android/One UI operating-system upgrades and seven years of security updates from the phone’s global launch. The US specification sheet lists a 6.9-inch QHD+ display, adaptive refresh up to 120 Hz, Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy and a four-camera rear system.
What is the Galaxy S25 Ultra?
The Galaxy S25 Ultra is the top model in Samsung’s S25 series. Samsung Electronics America’s US business specification sheet, marked as current on January 22, 2025, lists a 6.9-inch QHD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with adaptive refresh up to 120 Hz, Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy platform and a rear camera system led by a 200-megapixel wide camera.

Its defining hardware difference is the integrated S Pen. The stylus slides into the phone and is ready for writing and drawing without the pairing process used by Bluetooth accessories. That convenience is paired with an important limitation: the S25 Ultra’s included pen has no Bluetooth Low Energy radio.

Write, draw and annotate
The pen remains a precise input device for handwritten notes, sketches, artwork, document annotations and other touchscreen tasks. Pressure-sensitive drawing and the narrow pen tip make it useful when a finger is too imprecise, while handwriting-to-text can turn notes into editable text where supported by the software.

- Stunning 6.9″ Dynamic AMOLED 2X QHD+ display with adaptive 1–120 Hz refresh rate, ultra‑bright up to ~2600 nits, HDR support, “Vision Booster,” and adaptive color tone — giving vivid colours, great outdoor visibility, and super‑smooth scrolling.
- Powerful internals: it runs on the new Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy (3 nm) chip, with 12 GB (or in some markets up to 16 GB) RAM and up to 1 TB UFS 4.0 storage — offering significantly improved CPU/GPU/NPU performance, especially for AI tasks, gaming, and heavy multitasking.
- Advanced quad‑camera system: 200 MP wide main sensor, plus a 50 MP ultrawide, a 50 MP periscope telephoto (5× optical zoom), and a 10 MP telephoto (3× optical zoom) — giving flexibility from ultra‑wide through detailed telephoto shots, and strong performance in varied lighting.
- 5,000 mAh battery with 45 W fast wired charging, wireless charging (Qi2) and reverse wireless charging — balancing long battery life with flexible charging options.
- Durable, premium build: Titanium‑frame body, protected by Corning Gorilla Armor 2 glass, with IP68 dust/water resistance, ultrasonic in‑display fingerprint sensor, modern connectivity (5G, Wi‑Fi 7, Bluetooth, UWB, USB‑C), and long‑term software support (Android 15 / One UI 7, promised 7 major OS/security updates).
Use screen-off memos
Screen-off memos let you remove the pen and write on the display before opening a full note-taking app. This is intended for quick capture of a phone number, reminder or diagram. The memo feature does not depend on Bluetooth; it is part of the phone’s integrated S Pen experience.
Open Air Command and on-screen tools
Air Command opens a menu of compatible S Pen tools. Samsung’s US support page identifies AI Select, Translate and Magnify among the available tools, along with Air View and handwriting-to-text. AI Select can act on selected on-screen content, Translate can assist with text, and Magnify enlarges a region for easier viewing. The exact tools and behavior can vary with software and app support.
To change the pen’s available options, open Settings → Advanced features → S Pen. This is where Samsung exposes S Pen settings rather than a Bluetooth-pairing screen, because the included pen does not use BLE.
Does the S25 Ultra S Pen need to be charged?
No. Samsung says the included S Pen does not support BLE pairing or charging. It has no rechargeable battery for remote functions, so there is no charging routine, battery indicator or charging failure to troubleshoot. Store the pen in its silo when it is not in use; the phone’s slot keeps it with the device.
This is different from older S Pens that used a battery to provide remote-control features. Writing, drawing, screen-off memos and the on-screen tools listed above continue to work because they do not require a Bluetooth connection.
Does the Galaxy S25 Ultra S Pen have Bluetooth?
No. The included S25 Ultra S Pen has no Bluetooth Low Energy support. Samsung US Support describes the limitation as including “pairing, charging, or remote features like Air actions,” which use gestures and movements to control the phone. Location tracking is not supported either.

Functions that are not available
- Bluetooth or BLE pairing with the phone.
- Charging the pen inside the handset.
- Air actions, such as gesture-based remote control of compatible apps.
- Finding or locating the pen through a location feature.
Samsung Germany’s FAQ also explains that this model change removes S Pen actions, unlocking with the S Pen and “keep S Pen connected” behavior. That page discusses the limitation even when an S Pen Pro is considered; it should not be read as a guarantee that an S Pen Pro’s other capabilities work with the S25 Ultra. Compatibility depends on the exact pen and phone combination.
What still works without Bluetooth?
Direct pen input, drawing, handwriting, screen-off memos, Air Command, AI Select, Translate, Magnify and Air View remain the practical uses. In other words, the S Pen is a digitizer stylus, not a wireless remote for the S25 Ultra.
How long will the Galaxy S25 Ultra get software updates?
Samsung’s support commitment is seven generations of operating-system upgrades and seven years of security updates from the global launch date. The duration is stated in Samsung’s Galaxy S25 Ultra Product Environmental Report; the report’s publication date is not stated in the reviewed material.
Samsung’s S25 specification sheet lists the launch software baseline as Android 15 with One UI 7.0 and summarizes the policy as “7 years of OS and security updates.” The two statements describe different things: Android 15 and One UI 7.0 identify the software supplied at the documented baseline, while seven generations and seven years describe the promised support period.
What the promise does—and does not—tell you
- It commits Samsung to seven OS generations, not merely seven calendar years of feature updates.
- It commits to seven years of security updates measured from global launch.
- It does not identify the exact Android or One UI version installed in every country at a later date.
- Release timing can differ by market, carrier and model variant.
The reviewed Samsung materials do not establish the current One UI version or security-patch level for October 13, 2026. Do not infer a current rollout from the launch software. For a live status check, use Samsung’s update information for your region and carrier, or the Software update section on your own phone.
What are the Galaxy S25 Ultra’s key specifications?
The following figures come from Samsung Electronics America’s US business specification sheet, whose information date is January 22, 2025. They are manufacturer-published specifications, not independent performance measurements.

How capable is the camera system?
The rear array combines four cameras rather than asking one sensor to cover every view. Samsung lists a 200 MP wide camera with autofocus and optical image stabilization, a 50 MP ultra-wide with autofocus and optical image stabilization, and 10 MP and 50 MP telephoto cameras with the same listed autofocus and stabilization features.
The resolution numbers describe the sensors’ published pixel counts, not guaranteed image quality in every scene. Lighting, processing, subject movement and the selected lens affect the final photograph. The specification sheet does not constitute an independent camera test, so it cannot establish comparative rankings, battery impact or low-light performance.
How large and smooth is the display?
The US sheet specifies a 6.9-inch QHD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X display and adaptive refresh up to 120 Hz. The large diagonal gives the S Pen more room for handwriting and drawing, while the adaptive behavior can use a high refresh rate for supported scrolling and animation without forcing 120 Hz in every situation.
“Up to 120 Hz” is a ceiling, not a promise that every app or frame runs at that rate. Actual refresh behavior is controlled by the phone’s software and the content on screen.
Is the Galaxy S25 Ultra waterproof?
Samsung’s environmental report gives the phone an IP68 water-resistance and dust-protection rating. IP68 is a standardized protection rating under specified laboratory conditions; it is not an unconditional promise against water damage.
Avoid treating the rating as permission for every liquid, depth, temperature or duration. Water resistance can also be affected by wear, impact, repairs or an improperly closed opening. If the phone becomes wet, follow Samsung’s drying and service guidance rather than deliberately testing the rating.

How does the Ultra differ from the Galaxy S25 and S25+?
Samsung’s US S25-series sheet distinguishes the models by display, camera hardware and S Pen availability. The Ultra is the only model in that sheet listed with an S Pen. Its display is the 6.9-inch QHD+ panel described above; the S25 and S25+ are listed with smaller displays, but the reviewed material does not provide their exact diagonal and resolution figures here.

Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What should you know about a replacement S Pen?
If the original pen is lost or damaged, look for a replacement identified for the Galaxy S25 Ultra. Samsung support identifies the model family as EJ-PS938, and Samsung Germany’s FAQ discusses a spare/replacement pen. Verify the exact regional SKU and phone compatibility before ordering.
A replacement for the S25 Ultra should be judged by fit and writing compatibility, not by a generic “S Pen” label. The model’s Bluetooth limitation remains: a compatible S25 Ultra pen does not gain charging, pairing or Air actions.
Do you need a case or screen protector?
A case and screen protector are sensible protection choices for a large phone with an integrated stylus and an expansive display. Samsung’s FAQ points readers toward S25-series cases and screen protectors, but accessory fit is model-specific. Confirm that a product listing names the Galaxy S25 Ultra rather than only “Galaxy S25 series,” and check clearance for the pen silo, cameras and display edges.

Common S Pen problems and the right diagnosis
The pen will not trigger Air actions
This is expected on the S25 Ultra, not a fault. The included pen has no BLE and therefore cannot provide gesture-based remote control.
The phone does not show a pen battery level
There is no battery to charge or report for the included pen. Use it as a direct stylus and return it to the silo for storage.
Screen-off memo or handwriting is unavailable
Confirm that you are using the S Pen designed for the S25 Ultra, then check Settings → Advanced features → S Pen for the relevant options. App support can also determine whether handwriting-to-text or an Air Command tool appears.
A replacement pen does not work
Check the exact model and regional SKU. A pen made for another Galaxy device may have a similar shape or name but different compatibility. The S25 Ultra’s lack of BLE does not make every older or “Pro” pen interchangeable.
Which Galaxy S25 Ultra facts are confirmed, and which require a live check?
Samsung’s published materials confirm the S Pen’s writing tools and Bluetooth limitation, the January 22, 2025 US hardware specifications, the IP68 rating and the seven-generation/seven-year support commitment. They do not establish the exact software version or security patch available in every market on October 13, 2026. Treat a current-version statement as regional and time-sensitive, and verify it through Samsung or the carrier serving your device.
