If your Galaxy S25 Ultra is losing charge faster than expected, start with Settings > Battery > View details and find what is using power before changing settings. A recent setup, busy app, software issue, weak signal or 5G use can all contribute; fast drain by itself does not prove the battery is faulty. Menu labels can vary by One UI version, carrier and region.
Check what is using battery first
Open Settings, tap Battery, then look for View details or the battery usage graph. Samsung’s US guidance uses the View details path, but the wording and screen can differ by device software version. Review the apps and services near the top and ask whether their activity matches what you did during that period.

A high-usage app is not automatically malfunctioning: navigation, video, gaming, camera use and other active tasks can consume substantial power. If an app is unexpectedly high despite little use, update it, limit its background activity, or temporarily uninstall it to see whether the pattern changes.
Consider recent changes and network conditions
New setup, restore or software update
Battery use can rise while a phone is being set up or optimizing after a change. If the S25 Ultra was recently restored, updated or loaded with new apps, check its usage again after normal activity has settled rather than diagnosing the battery from one unusual day. Also check Settings > Software update for available updates.

Weak signal and 5G
Unstable cellular coverage can increase power use as the phone maintains a connection. Samsung UK support, in guidance updated 8 May 2023, notes that “5G networks may drain the battery faster”; actual battery life also depends on network environment and use. Where coverage is weak and your carrier allows it, try LTE for a day and compare with a similar day of use. The option may not be available in every region or plan.
Reduce background activity without missing important updates
Review Settings > Battery > Background usage limits. Put only apps you rarely use into Sleeping or Deep sleeping. Deep sleeping apps work only when you open them, so notifications, syncing or other background updates may not arrive until then. Keep messaging, navigation, health and other time-sensitive apps out of Deep sleeping if you rely on their updates.

Samsung’s Battery and device care screen may also offer Optimize now, which can close background apps and manage abnormal battery use. Treat this as a way to address unnecessary activity, not as proof that the battery itself is damaged.

- Adaptive brightness: Let the screen adjust to ambient light, or lower brightness manually when the display is brighter than you need.
- Screen timeout: Choose a shorter time before the display turns off when idle.
- Power saving mode: Use it when you need to prioritize battery life, keeping in mind that some features or background activity may be limited.
- Light performance profile: Consider this option if extending battery life matters more than peak performance; it involves a performance trade-off.
Change one option, then compare battery use over similar periods and with similar phone activity. Samsung does not promise a specific amount of extra battery life from these settings, and several simultaneous changes make it harder to identify what helped.

Check battery condition and get service if needed
Battery capacity gradually declines through repeated charging and discharging. Samsung Ireland support describes the battery as a consumable component and says lost capacity cannot be restored. That does not mean every fast-drain episode signals wear: first review app, software and network causes.
- Open the Samsung Members app.
- Go to Support and open Phone diagnostics (labels may vary by app version).
- Run the battery test and review its status.
- If the result flags a problem, or unusual drain continues after the checks above, contact Samsung support or an authorized service provider in your market.
Do not open the phone or rely on an unverified replacement battery. Regional support options and diagnostic labels can vary.
Ignore battery-drain warning pop-ups
Samsung warns that some third-party apps use fake fast-drain alerts to persuade people to install additional apps. Do not install a “battery fix” app from a pop-up. Use the phone’s built-in Battery and device care features and Samsung Members diagnostics instead.
