Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra alternatives: the best phones to consider in 2026

The strongest alternatives to the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra are the Google Pixel 10 Pro XL and OnePlus 13 for Android users, plus Apple’s iPhone 18 Pro Max if you are willing to move to iOS. There is no evidence-based universal winner here: choose by operating system, camera priorities, screen and handling, battery-test methodology, and the price and storage configuration available in your country.

Which Galaxy S25 Ultra alternative fits you?

Start with the decision that changes the rest of the experience: whether you want to stay with Android or switch to Apple’s iOS. The Google Pixel 10 Pro XL and OnePlus 13 are credible Android comparison candidates. The iPhone 18 Pro Max is a current-generation cross-platform option announced by Apple on September 9, 2026, with availability from September 18, 2026. The Galaxy S25 Ultra remains the reference phone for this comparison; the available evidence does not establish whether Samsung has released a newer Ultra model, so this guide does not call it Samsung’s latest phone.

If your priority is… Start with… What is established
Keeping Android and comparing premium large phones Google Pixel 10 Pro XL It appears beside the Galaxy S25 Ultra and iPhone 17 Pro Max in AT&T’s comparison tool. That establishes relevance, not superiority or current stock.
Keeping Android while considering another flagship design OnePlus 13 It appears in a four-phone comparison with the Pixel 10 Pro XL, iPhone 17 Pro Max and Galaxy S25 Ultra. The comparison does not provide a tested winner.
Moving to iOS and buying a newly announced large Pro phone iPhone 18 Pro Max Apple lists a 6.9-inch display, A20 Pro, iOS 27, a 48MP main camera with variable aperture and a next-generation vapor chamber.
Keeping Samsung’s software, accessories and S Pen habits Galaxy S25 Ultra It is the reference product in the cited comparisons. Check Samsung’s regional product page before purchase because a current successor was not verified here.

The table deliberately separates established facts from buying guidance. Neither the AT&T page nor the Gadgets 360 comparison is a controlled camera, performance or battery test, and the available material does not support declaring one of these phones “best overall.”

What phones are genuine alternatives?

Google Pixel 10 Pro XL

The Pixel 10 Pro XL belongs on an Android shortlist because AT&T compares it directly with the Galaxy S25 Ultra and iPhone 17 Pro Max. Use that page to inspect the selected display fields and other entries it actually lists: AT&T’s Google Pixel 10 Pro XL vs Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra vs Apple iPhone 17 Pro Max comparison. The page’s inclusion does not establish that the Pixel has better cameras, longer battery life or faster performance, and it does not verify inventory in your market.

For a buyer leaving Samsung, the practical question is whether Google’s Android implementation, update behavior, camera processing and available accessories suit you better than Samsung’s. Confirm the exact regional model, storage, modem bands, warranty and current price before ordering. The cited material does not provide a verified current specification sheet for the Pixel 10 Pro XL.

OnePlus 13

OnePlus 13 is another Android candidate rather than a proven winner. Gadgets 360 lists it alongside the Pixel 10 Pro XL, iPhone 17 Pro Max and Galaxy S25 Ultra in its comparison page: Gadgets 360’s four-phone comparison. That makes it relevant for a deeper shortlist, but it does not constitute independent testing.

Consider it when Android continuity matters but you are open to a different manufacturer’s hardware, charging approach, software interface and accessory ecosystem. Verify the regional configuration and support terms directly with the manufacturer or an authorized seller; no current official OnePlus specification page or universally applicable price was established in the supplied sources.

Apple iPhone 18 Pro Max

The iPhone 18 Pro Max is the clearest cross-platform alternative because Apple has formally announced it. Apple’s September 9, 2026 announcement documents the A20 Pro chip, iOS 27, a 48MP main camera with variable aperture and a next-generation vapor chamber: Apple Newsroom announcement. Availability began September 18, 2026.

Apple lists a U.S. starting price of $1,299. That is launch information for the United States, not a worldwide street price, and trade-in or carrier offers vary by eligibility and value. The same announcement says eSIM-only iPhone 18 Pro Max models offer up to 45 hours of video playback. “Up to” is Apple’s manufacturer figure for that specific configuration, not an independent battery-test result.

Staying with Android

Both the Pixel 10 Pro XL and OnePlus 13 keep you in Android, so your existing Google account, purchased apps and familiar navigation can remain part of the move. Samsung-specific habits still need checking: settings organization, cloud services, accessory compatibility, stylus workflows and any Samsung-only features may not transfer one-for-one. Export or sync important data before changing phones, and check that banking, work, authentication and wearable apps support the model and Android version you intend to buy.

Android alternatives can also differ by country. A model sold in one region may have different cellular bands, eSIM support, storage choices, warranty coverage or bundled accessories elsewhere. Treat an online listing as incomplete until it states the exact model number and market.

Switching to iOS

The iPhone 18 Pro Max requires a more deliberate ecosystem decision. App purchases, subscriptions, messaging habits, cloud storage, watches, tablets, earbuds, car integration and accessories may work differently after a switch. Make a checklist of services you use every week rather than assuming an equivalent exists or that your existing purchase transfers.

Apple’s launch material identifies the iPhone 18 Pro Max as eSIM-only in the configuration associated with its 45-hour playback claim. Confirm your carrier’s eSIM activation process and international roaming support before buying, particularly if you depend on a physical SIM while traveling.

Check the ecosystem cost, not just the handset price

  • List paid apps, subscriptions and cloud plans tied to your current platform.
  • Check whether your smartwatch, fitness tracker, car system and earbuds support the destination platform.
  • Confirm your carrier supports the phone’s SIM format and the bands used in your country.
  • Budget for a case, screen protection, charger or cable if your existing accessories are incompatible.
  • Review trade-in terms separately from the advertised handset price; promotional values can depend on condition, plan and activation.

Camera choice: match the phone to how you shoot

Camera hardware alone cannot identify a winner. The available sources establish Apple’s 48MP main camera with variable aperture on the iPhone 18 Pro Max, but they do not provide side-by-side samples or a controlled comparison with the Galaxy S25 Ultra, Pixel 10 Pro XL or OnePlus 13. Do not treat a megapixel count, lens list or manufacturer wording as proof that one phone takes better pictures.

If you shoot still photos

Decide which subjects dominate your camera roll: people indoors, moving children, landscapes, documents, food or night scenes. Ask whether you prefer a natural-looking file for editing or a ready-to-share image produced by the phone’s processing. Then find a retailer with a return window and test the exact tasks you care about. Use identical framing, lighting and storage settings, and inspect both the full image and a crop before judging detail.

If zoom matters

“Zoom” is not one use case. A portrait from several metres away, a distant sign and a moon shot stress different parts of the system. Compare the focal lengths and optical paths listed for the exact regional model, then test at the magnifications you actually use. The cited comparison pages do not establish a standardized zoom ranking.

If video matters

Check stabilization while walking, microphone quality in wind, exposure changes between lenses, focus transitions, storage requirements and the editing apps you use. A phone can be excellent for stills yet awkward for your video workflow. No independent head-to-head video test is established by the supplied sources, so keep any conclusion tied to your own trial or a clearly identified test method.

What Apple’s camera claim means

Apple says the iPhone 18 Pro Max has a 48MP main camera with variable aperture. This describes hardware and a manufacturer specification; it does not quantify dynamic range, low-light noise, autofocus reliability or video quality. Apple senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing Greg Joswiak described the launch as a major advance in camera, performance, battery and intelligence, but that statement is promotional and should be read as Apple’s position, not an independent assessment.

Display size and handling: a large screen is not automatically comfortable

Apple lists a 6.9-inch display for the iPhone 18 Pro Max in its technical specifications: Apple’s iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max technical specifications. AT&T’s comparison page supplies selected display information for the Pixel 10 Pro XL and the reference phones. Those entries can help you narrow a shortlist, but diagonal size alone does not establish brightness, refresh behavior, color accuracy, outdoor readability or comfort.

Measure the way you hold the phone

  • Try one-handed typing with the phone in a case, not just without one.
  • Check whether your thumb can reach the top controls without shifting your grip.
  • Read a long article and watch a video for 15 minutes; weight distribution matters as much as diagonal size.
  • Test the camera grip and shutter reach, especially if you frequently shoot landscape photos.
  • Confirm pocket, car-mount and wireless-charging fit with your case installed.

A larger panel may be useful for maps, documents, games and split-screen work, while a narrower or lighter design may be easier for calls and commuting. The right choice depends on your hands and routine, not a single number.

Battery claims: compare like with like

Battery figures are meaningful only when the test method, software, network conditions and configuration are comparable. Apple’s “up to 45 hours of video playback” for eSIM-only iPhone 18 Pro Max models is a manufacturer estimate. It should not be placed in the same ranking as an independent web-browsing loop, mixed-use test or another brand’s playback claim.

How to evaluate an independent test

  1. Identify the publication, test date and phone software version.
  2. Check whether brightness, refresh rate, cellular connection and audio volume were standardized.
  3. Confirm the storage, SIM/eSIM state and battery-health condition of the tested unit.
  4. Compare the same workload across phones; a video loop and a camera endurance test answer different questions.
  5. Use at least two consistent runs or sources before treating a small difference as meaningful.

No independent, controlled head-to-head battery statistic was established for these four phones in the available material. Until you have a consistent test, use battery capacity and charging claims as clues rather than a ranking, and give more weight to your own mobile-network experience and return policy.

Price, storage and charging details to verify

What is established for iPhone 18 Pro Max

Item Published detail Qualification
U.S. starting price $1,299 Apple launch information from September 2026; taxes, storage beyond the base configuration, carrier terms and regional prices differ.
Storage 256GB to 2TB Apple technical specifications; confirm the configuration and local availability before ordering.
Wireless charging MagSafe and Qi2 up to 25W Apple’s published maximum; charger, case, temperature and accessory compatibility affect real charging.
Video playback Up to 45 hours Apple manufacturer figure for eSIM-only iPhone 18 Pro Max models, not an independent test.

What is not established for every alternative

Comparable current prices, storage ranges, charging limits and official regional specification pages for the Pixel 10 Pro XL, OnePlus 13 and Galaxy S25 Ultra were not verified in the cited material. Do not fill those cells with launch prices from another country or with a retailer’s temporary offer. Before publishing or buying, open the manufacturer’s page for your region and record the exact model, storage, warranty, network compatibility, charging standard and return terms.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Calculate the real purchase cost

  • Start with the price of the storage tier you actually need, not the headline entry price.
  • Add sales tax, delivery, an appropriate case and any charger or cable required.
  • Subtract only the trade-in value you can document for your device’s condition.
  • Separate a carrier bill credit from an instant discount; credits may require a plan and a fixed term.
  • Check whether the seller is authorized and how warranty service works in your country.

A practical comparison process before you buy

  1. Set your platform boundary. Decide whether Android is mandatory or whether iOS is acceptable. This removes the largest source of buyer’s remorse.
  2. Write three camera tests. For example: indoor people photos, distant subjects and stabilized walking video. Use those tests consistently.
  3. Record the exact display and size. Note the diagonal, dimensions, weight and case fit from the regional specification pages, not an international listing.
  4. Check battery evidence. Prefer a consistent independent test. Keep Apple’s 45-hour figure labeled as a manufacturer estimate for eSIM-only models.
  5. Price the same storage tier. Include tax, accessories, trade-in conditions and carrier obligations.
  6. Verify connectivity. Confirm 4G/5G bands, eSIM or physical-SIM support, Wi-Fi features and roaming compatibility with your carrier.
  7. Check support. Read the local warranty, repair route, spare-parts policy and return window before payment.
  8. Buy where you can return. A short hands-on trial is the most reliable way to resolve comfort, camera and network questions that the published comparisons cannot answer.

Which alternative should you choose?

Choose the Pixel 10 Pro XL when Android continuity is your priority

Make the Pixel your first comparison when you want a large Android phone and prefer Google’s software approach. The evidence supports its inclusion beside the Galaxy S25 Ultra, but not a claim that it beats Samsung in cameras, performance or endurance. Confirm local stock and specifications before committing.

Choose the OnePlus 13 when you want another Android design to evaluate

Put OnePlus 13 on the shortlist if you are open to a different Android manufacturer and want to compare its hardware, software and charging experience directly with Samsung’s. Treat its presence in a multi-phone comparison as a starting point for inspection, not a benchmark result.

Choose the iPhone 18 Pro Max when iOS and Apple’s large Pro format fit your life

The iPhone 18 Pro Max is the best-defined cross-platform option in this set: Apple has announced it, published its key specifications, set a U.S. launch price of $1,299 and listed availability from September 18, 2026. It is a sensible choice if your apps, accessories and services already fit iOS, or if you explicitly want to change ecosystems. Verify eSIM support, local pricing and storage before purchase.

Stay with the Galaxy S25 Ultra when Samsung-specific habits outweigh experimentation

If your daily workflow depends on Samsung’s interface, accessories, services or stylus-centered features, switching brands may cost more time than it saves. Compare the alternatives only after identifying the specific limitation you want to fix, such as camera behavior, software preference, size or price.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Bottom line for 2026 buyers

The Pixel 10 Pro XL and OnePlus 13 are credible Android alternatives to investigate, while Apple’s iPhone 18 Pro Max is the documented current-generation option for readers willing to move to iOS. The evidence does not support a single overall winner or a battery, camera or performance ranking. Make the decision with the exact regional model in front of you, a consistent camera and battery test, and a complete calculation of storage, accessories, trade-in terms and carrier requirements.

Product prices and availability are accurate as of the date/time indicated and are subject to change. Any price and availability information displayed on Amazon at the time of purchase will apply.
