What separates these phones
These are both large 5G phones positioned below their manufacturers’ most expensive flagships, but they emphasize different kinds of value. OnePlus puts flagship-level silicon, generous memory and a very large battery into a single 256GB configuration. Samsung allocates more of the budget to its software platform, wireless charging and a long support commitment, while offering three storage tiers.

The hardware gap is clearest on paper. The OnePlus 13R uses Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 256GB of UFS 4.0 storage. The Galaxy S25 FE uses Samsung’s Exynos 2400 with 8GB of RAM and 128GB, 256GB or 512GB storage options. Neither specification guarantees a particular day-to-day experience, but the memory and storage configuration gives the 13R more headroom for demanding games and multitasking.

Performance and gaming
OnePlus 13R: more headroom for sustained workloads
The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 is the 13R’s principal value advantage. Paired with 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM, it is designed for intensive games, emulation, video work and keeping many large apps in memory. Its 256GB UFS 4.0 storage is also a faster class of flash storage than the Galaxy specification identifies, which can help with large game installs and file transfers.

OnePlus does not provide a cross-device benchmark for these phones, so the specification should not be converted into a guaranteed frame-rate or battery-runtime claim. Game performance still depends on the title, graphics settings, thermal behavior, software updates and ambient temperature. Nevertheless, buyers who regularly play demanding 3D games are choosing the more performance-oriented configuration when they select the 13R.
Galaxy S25 FE: fine for routine use, less convincing under heavy load
The S25 FE’s Exynos 2400 and 8GB of RAM are sufficient for messaging, web browsing, streaming, office apps and ordinary photography. TechRadar’s 2025 review found daily use acceptable but described performance under heavy loads as below average. That matters if you record long 4K clips, switch repeatedly between demanding apps or play graphics-heavy games for extended sessions.
Eight gigabytes of RAM is not automatically inadequate, but it leaves less margin for future software and large games than the 13R’s 12GB. The S25 FE can still be the sensible choice for a buyer whose workload is mostly communication, photography and media, particularly if Samsung’s interface and support policy are more important than maximum speed.

- Choose the OnePlus 13R if stable performance in demanding games and faster app loading are central to your purchase.
- Choose the S25 FE if you play casually and would rather have Samsung’s software, wireless charging and longer documented update commitment.
- Do not treat either phone’s processor name as a substitute for a review of the games you actually play; no published laboratory comparison of these exact retail variants is available.
Battery life and charging
Capacity advantage: OnePlus 13R
The OnePlus 13R has a 6,000mAh single-cell battery. That is 1,100mAh more capacity than the Galaxy S25 FE’s 4,900mAh battery, a difference of roughly 22 percent on the stated capacities. Capacity is not the same as endurance: display brightness, cellular signal, processor load, camera use and software tuning all affect results. Still, the 13R starts with a substantial reserve that favors long gaming sessions, navigation and heavy mobile-data use.
No controlled, side-by-side battery test is provided for these two retail models. You should therefore treat the larger battery as a hardware advantage rather than a promise that it will last a specific number of hours longer.
Galaxy S25 FE: a full day for moderate use, with wireless options
TechRadar’s reviewer reported that the S25 FE generally lasted a full day, with approximately five to six hours of screen-on time in that reviewer’s use. Heavy camera work or gaming reduced endurance. Those figures describe one reviewer’s usage, not a standardized laboratory result, so they should be used as a reference point rather than a guarantee.
Samsung specifies up to 45W wired charging, fast wireless charging and Wireless PowerShare. Wireless charging is the feature the OnePlus specification does not list, and it can be valuable if you already use a charging pad or want to top up without plugging in. Wireless PowerShare lets the phone share power with compatible accessories, although Samsung does not state a charging rate.

OnePlus 13R: faster wired charging, with regional limits
North American versions of the 13R support 55W SUPERVOOC charging. OnePlus describes up to 80W charging with optional compatible adapters in markets where that rate is supported. The regional distinction is important: an 80W claim should not be applied to a North American phone, and the adapter may be an additional purchase. Confirm the phone variant, included charger and local electrical standard before comparing charging times.
| Charging detail | Galaxy S25 FE | OnePlus 13R |
|---|---|---|
| Battery capacity | 4,900mAh | 6,000mAh single cell |
| Wired charging | Up to 45W | 55W SUPERVOOC in North America |
| Other stated wired rate | Not stated | Up to 80W with optional compatible adapters where supported |
| Wireless charging | Fast wireless charging; Wireless PowerShare | Not listed by OnePlus |
Camera comparison: focal lengths matter more than megapixels
Rear-camera hardware
| Camera | Galaxy S25 FE | OnePlus 13R |
|---|---|---|
| Main | 50MP | 50MP Sony LYT-700 with optical image stabilization |
| Ultrawide | 12MP | 8MP |
| Telephoto | 8MP | 50MP 2× optical telephoto |
| Front camera | Not stated by Samsung | 16MP |
The Galaxy’s 12MP ultrawide has a higher stated resolution than the OnePlus’s 8MP ultrawide. The 13R counters with a 50MP 2× optical telephoto, while Samsung lists an 8MP telephoto. If you frequently photograph people, pets or details from a short distance, the OnePlus telephoto specification is the more ambitious one. If landscapes, architecture and group shots are your priority, the Samsung ultrawide’s higher resolution may be useful.
Samsung’s main, ultrawide and telephoto combination is designed to cover the common 0.5×, 1× and zoom perspectives. OnePlus provides a similar three-camera arrangement but puts more hardware into the 2× lens. Neither set of numbers settles image quality. Color processing, HDR behavior, autofocus, night mode and video stabilization can change the result, and no controlled camera shootout between the phones is available.
How to choose for your photography
- Pick the S25 FE if you value Samsung’s camera processing and want a higher-resolution ultrawide on paper.
- Pick the 13R if a stronger 2× optical telephoto is more useful than maximum ultrawide resolution.
- Do not buy either phone solely because both have a 50MP main camera; the sensor, lens, stabilization and processing are different.
Displays and physical design
| Specification | Galaxy S25 FE | OnePlus 13R |
|---|---|---|
| Screen size | 6.7 inches | 6.78 inches |
| Panel and refresh rate | Dynamic LTPO AMOLED 2X, 120Hz | LTPO 4.1, 1–120Hz |
| Resolution | Not stated by Samsung | 2780 × 1264 |
| 13R dimensions and weight | Not stated by Samsung | 161.72 × 75.77 × 8.02mm; 206g |
Both phones use high-refresh-rate LTPO AMOLED panels, so both can deliver smooth scrolling while reducing refresh rate when a static image is on screen. The 13R is slightly larger and explicitly specifies a 1–120Hz range and 2780 × 1264 resolution. The S25 FE uses a 6.7-inch 120Hz Dynamic LTPO AMOLED 2X display. Brightness figures are not provided for either phone, so claims that one is brighter outdoors would go beyond the available evidence.
A 6.78-inch display makes the OnePlus marginally more spacious for games and video, while the 6.7-inch Samsung is only slightly smaller. At 206g, the 13R’s listed weight is substantial; Samsung does not state the S25 FE’s weight, so a direct weight comparison cannot be made here.
Software, updates and ecosystem
Galaxy S25 FE: the clearer long-term commitment
TechRadar reports that the S25 FE launches with Android 16 and One UI 8 and is promised up to seven major Android upgrades, alongside seven years of security updates. That is the strongest documented longevity claim in this comparison. It can reduce the need to replace the phone simply because software support has ended, particularly for buyers who keep a phone for five years or more.
Samsung’s One UI and Galaxy ecosystem are also a deciding factor for existing Samsung users. If you already rely on Galaxy devices or prefer Samsung’s interface, settings and account integration, the S25 FE may save friction that a faster processor does not address.

OnePlus 13R: verify the policy for your region
OnePlus identifies OxygenOS 15 based on Android 15. It does not state a comparable number of future Android versions or security-update years. OnePlus support policies can vary by model and market, so verify the current policy for the exact 13R variant before purchase rather than assuming it matches Samsung’s seven-year commitment.

This difference is central to value. A 13R that costs substantially less today may still be the better deal for a two- or three-year owner. A buyer planning to keep the phone well beyond that period should assign a real monetary value to Samsung’s documented support window.

TechRadar lists the Galaxy S25 FE’s 2025 US launch prices at $649 for 128GB, $699 for 256GB and $799 for 512GB. The corresponding UK prices were £649, £699 and £799; Australian prices were AU$1,099, AU$1,199 and AU$1,399. These are launch prices, not guaranteed current prices, and promotions can change the ranking quickly.
| Storage | Galaxy S25 FE US launch price | Galaxy S25 FE UK launch price | Galaxy S25 FE Australia launch price | OnePlus 13R |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 128GB | $649 | £649 | AU$1,099 | Not offered by OnePlus |

| 512GB | $799 | £799 | AU$1,399 | Not offered by OnePlus |
The fairest comparison is the Galaxy S25 FE 256GB against the OnePlus 13R 256GB. Do not compare the 128GB Samsung price with a 256GB OnePlus and call the difference a discount: storage is part of what you are buying. Also check whether the local OnePlus package includes its high-wattage charger and whether the Samsung price is a temporary launch or trade-in promotion.
Which phone is better value for different buyers?
| Buyer profile | Recommended phone | Reasoning |
|---|---|---|
| Competitive or graphics-heavy gamer | OnePlus 13R | Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, 12GB RAM, 6,000mAh battery and 55W North American charging address the biggest gaming constraints. |
| Heavy multitasker who keeps many apps open | OnePlus 13R | Its 12GB LPDDR5X memory provides more headroom than the S25 FE’s 8GB. |
| Wireless-charging household | Galaxy S25 FE | Samsung specifies wireless charging and Wireless PowerShare. |
| Long-term owner | Galaxy S25 FE | The seven-year Android and security-update commitment is documented for its Android 16/One UI 8 launch. |
| Frequent zoom photographer | OnePlus 13R | Its 50MP 2× optical telephoto is the more substantial zoom camera on paper. |
| Frequent ultrawide photographer | Galaxy S25 FE | Its ultrawide is specified at 12MP versus 8MP on the 13R. |
| Existing Galaxy user | Galaxy S25 FE | One UI and the Galaxy ecosystem may be worth more than the 13R’s faster hardware. |
| Best deal after a large local discount | Either | Recalculate using the same storage tier and include charger, warranty and trade-in conditions. |
A practical buying checklist
- Match storage first. Compare the Galaxy S25 FE 256GB with the OnePlus 13R 256GB, or account explicitly for the S25 FE’s additional storage.
- Check the exact regional model. Confirm 5G bands, warranty region and the charging rate available in your country.
- Price the charger. The OnePlus’s advertised 80W rate may require an optional compatible adapter, while North American units are specified at 55W. Samsung’s 45W wired rate also depends on a suitable charger.
- Decide how long you will keep it. For a planned five-year ownership period, Samsung’s update promise has tangible value. For a shorter cycle, the 13R’s performance and battery may matter more.
- Identify your camera focal length. Choose Samsung for the higher-resolution ultrawide specification or OnePlus for the 50MP 2× telephoto.
- Recheck the final price on purchase day. Samsung’s launch prices and promotions are volatile, and the current OnePlus price must be checked locally.
Important limitations when comparing specifications
- No published cross-device benchmark or controlled battery laboratory comparison between these exact retail variants is available, so do not assign a precise performance or runtime percentage to either phone.
- Camera megapixel counts describe hardware resolution, not final image quality. Processing and software updates can change results.
- Charging rates are regional. The 13R’s 55W North American figure and optional-adapter 80W figure are not interchangeable.
- The S25 FE prices above are 2025 launch prices. Taxes, promotions, storage bundles and trade-in offers can make current prices very different.
- OnePlus identifies OxygenOS 15 based on Android 15 but does not state a support duration; verify the current regional policy.
Final verdict
When the Galaxy S25 FE 256GB and OnePlus 13R 256GB cost about the same, buy the OnePlus 13R for the better hardware value: Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 performance, 12GB RAM, UFS 4.0 storage, a 6,000mAh battery and fast wired charging. Buy the Galaxy S25 FE when wireless charging, Samsung’s ecosystem, its camera-processing style or seven years of documented Android and security updates matter more than peak performance.
There is no universal winner at every price. Compare the same storage tier in your country on the day you buy, include the cost of a compatible charger and decide whether long software support or maximum hardware capacity is the benefit you will use most.
