The Galaxy S25 FE is worth buying if you want a large, high-refresh Samsung display, current Samsung software and Galaxy AI tools, and a lower price than the S25+. It is a weaker choice if you need top-tier gaming or sustained heavy-workload performance, strong long-range zoom, or 256GB of storage as a baseline. Samsung announced the phone on September 4, 2025, so every price and battery figure below is tied to its launch period and should be checked against your local store today.
What Samsung announced
Samsung’s launch announcement, published by Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. on September 4, 2025, lists One UI 8, Galaxy AI tools such as Generative Edit and Instant Slow-mo, a 12MP front camera, a 4,900mAh battery and 45W wired charging support. These are manufacturer specifications and feature claims. They are not independent performance results.

The strongest reasons to buy
A large, high-refresh screen
The 6.7-inch panel with adaptive 120Hz refresh is the phone’s most visible advantage. SamMobile reports peak brightness of up to 1,900 nits. That figure is a review measurement of the panel’s peak output, not everyday brightness, and it is lower than the higher-end S25 models reach.

A more premium build than the S24 FE
SamMobile describes the S25 FE as thinner and lighter than the S24 FE, with a Gorilla Glass Victus+ back, a frosted finish and an IP68 rating. Confirm the IP68 and glass details against the regional product page for your market, since reviewers report them rather than a single global specification sheet.
Current Samsung software and update support
The phone launched with Android 16 and One UI 8. Samsung’s UK product listing describes seven OS and security upgrades, and SamMobile’s review reports seven generations of Android and One UI upgrades. Both are secondary to Samsung’s own policy. Before you rely on a specific support length, check Samsung’s regional support page, because update terms can differ by country.
Fast wired charging and a larger battery than the S24 FE
The phone supports 45W wired charging, and its 4,900mAh capacity is larger than the 4,700mAh cited for the S24 FE. Samsung says the battery and a vapor chamber more than 10% larger than before “offer smooth, responsive performance with 45W wired charging support ensuring users can stay creative, entertained and connected while on the go.” That is a manufacturer claim. A larger battery does not by itself guarantee longer runtime, as the battery section explains.

A useful rear camera set with a stronger front camera
Having main, ultrawide and a dedicated 3x telephoto gives you framing options that many mid-range phones lack. Tom’s Guide found the dedicated 3x camera held more detail than Google’s Pixel 10 digital zoom in its own comparison. The front camera rises to 12MP. The telephoto limitation is covered below, but the main and ultrawide cameras should not be judged by it.
Lower launch price than the S25+
Tom’s Guide and TechRadar both reported a US launch price of $649 for the 128GB/8GB model, below the S25+ launch level they compared it against. That price is historical. Current pricing depends on your country, promotions and any later price changes.
The compromises to weigh
Exynos 2400 under heavy load
The Exynos 2400 handles everyday apps without trouble. TechRadar reports limitations under demanding games, heavy multi-app workloads and AI processing compared with the Snapdragon-based S25 models. Tom’s Guide’s benchmark results against the S24 FE were mixed, so the S25 FE is not slower in every test. The gap appears mainly in sustained or demanding tasks.

128GB base storage and 8GB RAM
The base configuration may feel tight if you store large video libraries or run many apps at once. SamMobile’s reviewer said they wished for 256GB storage and 12GB RAM. TechRadar reported that the 256GB model cost an additional $50, £50 or €50 in applicable markets at launch.
The 8MP telephoto camera
The 3x telephoto sensor is 8MP, which is less detail than some premium alternatives offer. Reviews note that detail weakens at longer zoom and against competitors. If you shoot a lot of distant subjects, that is the camera where the S25 FE is clearly the weaker option.
A display that is not top-spec across the S25 line
Peak brightness is lower than in the higher-end S25 models, and the bezels are larger than on the S25+, according to SamMobile and TechRadar. The screen is still large and smooth, but it is not the brightest panel in the Samsung range.

- 6.7‑inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X QHD+ display (3120 × 1440) with adaptive 1‑120 Hz refresh rate, HDR support, and up to ~2600 nits peak brightness — providing a large, sharp, and very bright screen.
A large phone
At 6.7 inches, this is not a compact handset. If one-handed use is a priority, compare the phone’s dimensions and weight in your local listing before you buy.
Battery: what the tests show
Battery results differ by test method and by how the phone is used, so no single runtime is guaranteed.
- Tom’s Guide recorded 9 hours 46 minutes on its adaptive-display drain test, and reported needing a recharge on some workdays in its daily use.
- TechRadar described a typical full day in its own use, with less remaining under heavy camera or gaming workloads.
These are reviewer-specific results, not controlled head-to-head measurements. If endurance matters most, compare reviews that use the same test method, and expect shorter runtime with gaming, continuous camera use or high brightness.

The S25 FE against the S25+ and the S24 FE
| Factor | What you get | What you give up |
|---|---|---|
| Display | 6.7-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X, adaptive 120Hz, up to 1,900 nits peak (SamMobile) | Lower peak brightness than higher-end S25 models; larger bezels than the S25+ |
| Processor | Exynos 2400 for everyday tasks | Weaker results in demanding games, heavy workloads and AI processing than Snapdragon-based S25 models (TechRadar) |
| Memory and storage | 8GB RAM and 128GB storage in the base configuration | Reviewer preferred 12GB RAM and 256GB storage |
| Telephoto | Dedicated 3x optical camera | 8MP sensor with less detail at longer zoom than premium alternatives |
| Battery and charging | 4,900mAh battery, 45W wired charging (Samsung) | Endurance varies by test: 9 hours 46 minutes in Tom’s Guide’s drain test; a full day in TechRadar’s use |
| Launch price (128GB/8GB) | $649 US; £649 UK; AU$1,099 Australia (Tom’s Guide, TechRadar, 2025) | Historical launch prices only; current local prices not stated in these sources |
Compared with the S24 FE, the S25 FE gains a larger battery, 45W wired charging, and a slimmer, lighter body. Compared with the S25+, the trade is price and bezel-free size against peak brightness, processor headroom and telephoto detail.
Who should buy it, and who should look elsewhere
- Buy it if you want a large 120Hz AMOLED screen, Samsung’s software and AI features, and a lower price than the S25+.
- Buy it if you mostly shoot everyday photos and do not need long-range zoom detail.
- Look elsewhere if you play demanding games for long sessions or run heavy multitasking.
- Look elsewhere if you regularly zoom far with the camera or need top peak brightness outdoors.
- Consider the 256GB model or external storage if you store large media libraries, and check the price difference in your market.
Before buying, check the current local price and storage tier, confirm whether a successor has launched in your market, and read the regional Samsung page for the exact update policy. A 45W USB-C charger is not guaranteed to be in every box, so check the package contents for your country.
A protective case is worth considering for a large, glass-backed phone. Confirm the case fits the Galaxy S25 FE model before ordering.
Reviewers and Samsung have described the phone in similar terms, and the trade-offs are consistent across them: the S25 FE offers a large, modern Samsung phone at a lower launch price, with clear limits in heavy performance, telephoto detail and base storage.
Use the table and the sections above to decide whether those limits matter for how you use the phone.
