How the camera systems differ
Samsung: two dedicated telephoto lenses
The S24 Ultra’s listed 3x and 5x optical telephoto cameras provide two dedicated telephoto options alongside the main and ultrawide cameras. Samsung also advertises optical-quality 2x and 10x zoom modes, but those should not be mistaken for additional optical lenses.
vivo: high-resolution telephoto and optional extender
vivo’s EU listing specifies a 200MP ZEISS telephoto, plus 50MP main and ultrawide cameras. It also names an optional ZEISS 2.35x telephoto extender and a Professional Imaging Grip Kit. The extender requires a relevant camera-app mode and OTA update, according to vivo’s EU page; check regional compatibility before buying the accessory.
#1 Best Overall
- 6.8″ Dynamic AMOLED 2X QHD+ display with a 1–120 Hz adaptive refresh rate and up to ~2600 nits peak brightness — delivering a bright, sharp screen with smooth scrolling and great outdoor visibility.
Megapixel counts and lens specifications alone do not establish which phone takes better photographs. The official material cited here does not provide independent head-to-head camera results. Choose based on the focal lengths and accessories you expect to use, then consult region- and software-specific reviews if image quality is the deciding factor.
Display, performance and battery: what the specifications do—and do not—tell you
The listed displays are close in diagonal size: 6.8 inches for Samsung and 6.78 inches for vivo’s EU model. Samsung specifies QHD+ resolution and a 1–120 Hz refresh rate; vivo’s EU page describes an 8T LTPO 120 Hz panel and ZEISS Natural Color Solution. Those manufacturer descriptions do not establish a direct winner for brightness, color accuracy or outdoor visibility.

- 6.8″ Dynamic AMOLED 2X QHD+ display with a 1–120 Hz adaptive refresh rate and up to ~2600 nits peak brightness — delivering a bright, sharp screen with smooth scrolling and great outdoor visibility.
The phones use different flagship platforms: Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy in Samsung’s launch material and MediaTek Dimensity 9500 in vivo’s specifications. Without comparable independent benchmarks, the processor names alone do not support a reliable speed ranking.

Usage, software, network conditions and regional configuration affect endurance. Price difference: the available figure is a historical UK launch price
Samsung Newsroom U.K. reported these S24 Ultra recommended prices at launch on 17 January 2024:
| Storage | UK launch RRP |
|---|---|
| 256GB | £1,249 |
| 512GB | £1,349 |
| 1TB | £1,549 |
These are 2024 UK launch prices, not today’s retailer prices. The sources used here do not establish a matched current UK price for the vivo X300 Pro, so a current difference cannot be calculated from them. For a fair comparison, check same-date prices in your country for the same storage capacity, and distinguish a retailer’s sale price from its list price. Use Samsung Newsroom U.K.’s launch announcement for the historical figures.

Which phone fits your priorities?
- Consider the S24 Ultra if its 3x and 5x dedicated optical telephoto coverage, Samsung’s listed display resolution, or a specific local price and storage offer matter most to you.
- Consider the X300 Pro if vivo’s listed 200MP ZEISS telephoto and optional extender system suit your photography plans, or if its local price and availability compare favorably for the configuration you want.
- Compare locally before choosing if price is decisive: the S24 Ultra numbers above are historical UK launch RRPs, while vivo configurations and availability vary by market.
Neither phone can be called the proven winner for speed, camera quality or battery life on the manufacturer specifications alone. Samsung’s launch material dates from 2024; it describes launch-era product information and should not be read as a statement of the S24 Ultra’s current software version.
