The Samsung Galaxy S24 is a strong fit for people who want a premium Android phone that stays genuinely compact: it combines a bright, high-refresh-rate display, three useful rear cameras and a long original software-support commitment in a smaller body than the S24+ or Ultra. It is not automatically the right choice for everyone. Processor configuration varies by region, battery capacity alone does not predict daily runtime, and Samsung’s current support information conflicts with its launch promise.
What the Galaxy S24 gets right
The standard S24’s defining advantage is its size. Samsung’s India listing gives it dimensions of 147.0 × 70.6 × 7.6 mm and a weight of 167 g, making it the compact member of the S24 family. That smaller footprint is easier to manage than the larger S24+ and Ultra, though anyone who prioritizes a spacious screen may prefer one of those models. These measurements and specifications refer to Samsung’s India listing, and regional configurations can differ. Samsung India Galaxy S24 specifications

The 6.2-inch display is a Dynamic AMOLED 2X panel with FHD+ resolution of 2340 × 1080 and a refresh rate of up to 120 Hz. Samsung lists the screen as 6.0 inches when measured accounting for rounded corners. The combination gives the phone a sharp, smooth display without requiring the larger body of its siblings. How useful are the cameras?
The rear system pairs a 50 MP main camera with a 12 MP ultrawide and a 10 MP telephoto camera. The telephoto offers 3x optical zoom, giving the S24 a genuine lens option for moderately distant subjects rather than relying only on a crop from the main camera. It adds practical framing flexibility for portraits, performances and travel details, but it is not equivalent to the Ultra’s longer-range camera system. Samsung India Galaxy S24 specifications

Reviewers describe the familiar main, ultrawide and 3x telephoto arrangement as versatile for many everyday situations. Android Authority characterizes the phone as a solid upgrade for people moving from substantially older models, while Tom’s Guide notes that the camera hardware changed little from the previous generation. Those are reviewers’ assessments, not a guarantee of results in every lighting or usage condition. Android Authority’s review and Tom’s Guide’s review
Performance depends on which regional model you buy
Samsung lists two processor variants for the S24: Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy and Exynos 2400 for Galaxy. Which one you get depends on market, so a review of one version does not establish how the other performs or how efficiently it uses power. Check the exact model sold in your region before applying performance impressions from a review elsewhere. Samsung UK’s S24 family comparison

Samsung lists a typical battery capacity of 4,000 mAh for the India version. That figure describes capacity, not how many hours the phone will last: screen brightness, network conditions, processor variant, apps and usage patterns all affect endurance. The available review evidence does not establish one standardized runtime that applies to all users, so use battery tests only when they identify the reviewer’s method and the exact model tested. What Samsung has promised about software support
At launch, Samsung announced that the S24 series would receive seven generations of OS upgrades and seven years of security updates. That is a substantial original commitment for buyers who want to keep a phone for years. Samsung Newsroom Singapore’s January 2024 announcement
There is an unresolved discrepancy in Samsung’s own materials: a Samsung Gulf support page updated June 30, 2026, states four OS-update years and five security-update years, which conflicts with the launch announcement and Samsung’s Galaxy S24 environmental report. The exact current schedule is therefore not consistent across these official sources. Update availability also varies by region, carrier and build; a notice for one device model does not establish worldwide rollout status. Samsung Gulf support information

How does the S24 compare with the S24+ and Ultra?
The S24 is the family’s compact option, with less screen area than its larger siblings. Choose it if manageable size and lighter weight matter more than a larger display. The S24+ and Ultra are the alternatives for readers who prefer more room; the Ultra also has a longer-range camera system than the S24’s 3x telephoto. Is the Galaxy S24 still worth buying?
It remains a compelling choice if you want a compact flagship with a smooth, sharp display and a useful mix of main, ultrawide and optical-zoom cameras. The strongest case is for someone replacing a substantially older phone who values size and intends to keep the device for years, while verifying the support schedule against Samsung’s conflicting official information.
