Samsung announced the Galaxy S24 FE on September 26, 2024, and began retail sales on October 3. In the United States, its 128GB launch price was $649.99—$50 more than the equivalent Galaxy S23 FE. The increase bought a larger display, bigger battery, newer processing platform, Galaxy AI features and a seven-year support commitment, but the S24 FE remains a heavier, less powerful and less camera-focused alternative to Samsung’s standard S-series phones.
Galaxy S24 FE price and availability
US launch pricing was $649.99 for 128GB and $709.99 for 256GB. The Galaxy S23 FE launched at $599.99 and $659.99 for the same capacities, so Samsung raised both equivalent tiers by $50. That is approximately an 8.3% increase for 128GB and 7.6% for 256GB, based on Samsung’s October 2024 US MSRP list (Samsung MSRP PDF).
In the UK, Samsung listed launch prices of £649 for 128GB and £699 for 256GB (Samsung Newsroom UK). Colours and exact configurations vary by market; US options included Blue, Mint, Graphite and Gray, while some markets offered additional colours.
Those figures are launch MSRPs, not a promise of what the phone costs today. Samsung’s US product page has shown the S24 FE from $649.99 before eligible trade-in, while promotions, carrier deals, remaining inventory and trade-in credits can change the checkout price (Samsung US). What the extra $50 pays for
The S24 FE is not merely an S23 FE with a new name. Samsung enlarged the phone’s Dynamic AMOLED 2X panel from 6.4 inches to 6.7 inches, increased typical battery capacity from 4,500mAh to 4,700mAh and moved to the Exynos 2400e platform. It also adds Samsung’s Galaxy AI suite and ProVisual Engine processing, while promising seven generations of Android/One UI upgrades and seven years of security updates from the global launch.
The software promise is a major part of the value for owners who keep a phone for years. Feature availability can differ by region, carrier, model and software version; some Galaxy AI functions may require a Samsung account, internet access or compatible applications. A long support window also does not guarantee that every future feature will work identically on this hardware.

- The Galaxy S24 FE packs a large 6.7‑inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with adaptive 120 Hz refresh rate, enhanced brightness and a “Vision Booster” mode — ideal for clear, bright visuals even outdoors.
How it compares with the Galaxy S23 FE
The practical upgrades are the larger 6.7-inch screen, 200mAh battery increase, newer Exynos platform, Galaxy AI integration and substantially longer stated software support. The 50MP main camera remains, joined by a 12MP ultrawide and 8MP 3x telephoto. Storage remains 128GB or 256GB with 8GB RAM.

The S24 FE therefore makes the most sense for someone choosing between similarly discounted units who values screen size and longevity. An S23 FE at a steep discount can still be the better bargain if those benefits are not important.
Galaxy S24 FE versus the standard Galaxy S24
The standard Galaxy S24 is the more compact and premium device. It offers flagship-class hardware in a smaller body, which makes it preferable for one-handed use, portability, demanding games and users who prioritise camera hardware and sustained performance. TechRadar found the S24 FE responsive for everyday work and AI tasks but noted that its processor is slightly weaker than the standard S24’s (TechRadar review).

The FE counters with a 6.7-inch screen and larger battery at a lower launch price. It is the better fit when reading, video, navigation and battery endurance matter more than a light, compact design. Do not treat it as a full flagship: the cost savings show up in processing headroom, materials and camera capability.
Camera: useful versatility, not Ultra-level imaging
A genuine 3x optical telephoto is a notable advantage over many phones in this price range. The 50MP main sensor, 12MP ultrawide and 10MP selfie camera cover everyday shooting, portraits and moderate-distance subjects.
Samsung’s ProVisual Engine and Galaxy AI can assist with scene processing, zoom detail and generative editing. Those are computational features, not larger or more capable sensors. AI edits can be convenient, but generated detail may look artificial or alter objects in ways you did not intend. Samsung’s marketing claims should not be read as evidence that the S24 FE matches the higher-end S24 models in low light, zoom flexibility or overall image quality. Independent testing remains the better guide for camera expectations.

The 4,700mAh cell is larger than both the S23 FE’s 4,500mAh battery and the standard S24’s battery. TechRadar reported more than a day under heavy mixed use in its testing, but endurance varies with brightness, gaming, cellular reception, refresh-rate settings and AI features (TechRadar review).
Charging is less impressive. Wired charging tops out at 25W, so this is not a fast-charging specialist. A compatible charger is required to reach that rate, and Samsung’s charger-inclusion policy can vary by market and retail package. Check the box contents before purchase; owners of a suitable USB-C Power Delivery charger may not need another one.
Where the S24 FE fits—and where it does not
Choose it when
- You want a large Samsung display for less than a flagship phone.
- Battery capacity and a real 3x telephoto matter more than compact dimensions.
- You use Galaxy AI, Samsung’s ecosystem or accessories such as Galaxy Watch and Buds.
- You intend to keep the phone for several years and value the seven-year support commitment.
- You find it meaningfully below its launch MSRP.
Choose another phone when
- You need a small, light handset or the strongest sustained gaming performance.
- You want Samsung’s best cameras, especially for low light and long-range zoom.
- 25W charging is too slow for your routine.
- A newer Galaxy FE or standard S-series model is only slightly more expensive.
- You need expandable storage; verify the exact regional model, because the listed capacities are 128GB and 256GB.
Verdict: a better launch package, but discount-sensitive
At its original $649.99 US price, the Galaxy S24 FE justified much of its $50 increase with a larger screen, bigger battery, newer platform and unusually long update promise. It is a strong choice for a large-screen Samsung buyer who plans to keep the phone and does not need flagship-level performance or cameras.
