The Galaxy S24 is the smaller, lighter phone on the manufacturers’ own figures, and it carries the stronger documented software commitment. The OPPO Reno15 Pro Mini has the larger battery, the higher listed wired charging, three high-resolution rear cameras and a larger front camera. On price, the launch figures put the Reno15 Pro Mini about ₹20,000 below the S24 at 256GB, but those figures were announced two years apart and do not describe today’s market.

This comparison uses India-market specifications and launch prices published by Samsung and OPPO, checked against the OPPO India store page as it appeared on 7 October 2026. No hands-on testing was carried out, so every figure below describes what each company publishes, not how the phones perform in use.

Size and handling

Every dimension and the weight in the table favour the Galaxy S24 for pocketability. The Reno15 Pro Mini is a compact model within OPPO’s Reno15 range, but the name does not make it smaller than the S24. Its listed thickness varies by color, which matters if you prefer a slim case-free profile. For one-hand use, the S24 is the easier phone to live with; the gap is small in millimetres but noticeable in weight over a full day.

Display

The two makers measure their screens differently. Samsung gives a 6.2-inch class figure for the full rectangle and notes that the visible area is 6.0 inches once rounded corners are excluded. OPPO gives its figure in centimetres, 16.05 cm, which works out to roughly 6.3 inches under its own convention. Treat a direct inch comparison as approximate.

The OPPO panel has the higher pixel count and a stated density of 460 ppi. Samsung’s specification source does not state a pixel density for the S24. Both screens list a maximum refresh rate of 120Hz; that is a ceiling, and neither source explains how often each phone runs at the top rate.

  • International Model – Global Connectivity – Plug & Play with an active SIM on AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile, and most U.S. carriers. New activations are only supported on T-Mobile, AT&T & Verizon in the U.S., as some carriers may not recognize International IMEI's as Compatible. (No U.S. manufacturer warranty; Seller Return policy applies.)

Cameras

The two rear systems are built differently. Samsung uses three modules with a 3x optical telephoto. OPPO uses three high-resolution modules, with optical stabilisation on the wide and telephoto lenses, and claims up to 3.5x optical zoom for video. The OPPO’s front camera is also considerably higher in resolution.

High-megapixel sensors are commonly output at lower default resolutions, so the headline pixel counts say little about the photos you will actually take. No independent side-by-side camera test of these two exact phones was identified in the sources behind this comparison, so low-light performance, colour rendering and motion capture remain unsettled. If zoom is your priority, compare the focal-length coverage and sample images yourself rather than relying on the optical-zoom claims alone.

Rank #3
SAMSUNG Galaxy S23 5G, US Version, 128GB, Phantom Black - Unlocked (Renewed)
  • Galaxy S23 sports a 6.1-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X flat display with adaptive 48–120 Hz refresh rate, HDR10+, and a peak brightness high enough for strong outdoor visibility — giving you vibrant, crisp visuals and smooth motion while staying compact.

Battery and charging

OPPO’s battery is larger on both of its published capacity figures, and its wired charging ceiling is higher. Neither capacity figure is a runtime measurement, and battery life cannot be inferred linearly from milliamp-hours, because screen, processor and software all change the outcome.

The 80W figure applies only with a compatible charger and conditions that support it. A generic USB-C charger will not deliver it. The Samsung specification source used here does not state a wired charging figure, so charging speed cannot be compared directly. Samsung’s up to 28 hours of video playback is a manufacturer claim measured under its own conditions and is not a matched comparison against OPPO.

Rank #4
Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra 5G, 256GB, Titanium Violet - Unlocked (Renewed)
  • 6.8″ Dynamic AMOLED 2X QHD+ display with a 1–120 Hz adaptive refresh rate and up to ~2600 nits peak brightness — delivering a bright, sharp screen with smooth scrolling and great outdoor visibility.

Software support

Samsung’s India launch announcement commits the S24 series to seven generations of OS upgrades and seven years of security updates. That is the strongest documented support promise in this comparison, and it is the reason to prefer the S24 if you plan to keep a phone for several years. Samsung’s launch material frames the S24 as an early step toward AI-focused phones; that is company framing rather than an independent assessment.

The OPPO specification page lists ColorOS 16.0 but does not state an equivalent support period. Do not read a support length into the version number. If update duration matters to you, ask OPPO India directly before buying.

Connectivity, payments and what is in the box

The Galaxy S24 supports NFC, which matters if you use a phone for contactless payments. The Reno15 Pro Mini’s India specification page lists no NFC, so check the exact model if that feature is essential. The OPPO page lists Wi-Fi 6, which the Samsung source does not state.

The box contents differ. OPPO’s India page says a charger is included. Samsung says the S24 does not include a travel adapter, so budget for one if you do not already own a suitable charger.

Price difference: what the numbers do and do not show

Launch prices

Configuration Galaxy S24 5G (launch, January 2024) Reno15 Pro Mini 5G (launch, January 2026) Difference at launch prices
256GB ₹79,999 (8GB RAM) ₹59,999 (12GB RAM) ₹20,000 lower for OPPO
512GB ₹89,999 (8GB RAM) ₹64,999 (12GB RAM) ₹25,000 lower for OPPO

The OPPO model carries 4GB more RAM at each storage tier. That is a real specification difference, so the gap is not a like-for-like price gap.

The current store offer

On 7 October 2026, OPPO’s India store page showed the Reno15 Pro Mini from ₹59,999, with ₹64,999 struck through. Store offers change, and this is one retailer’s page, not a survey of the market.

Why these figures are not a fair current comparison

  • The S24 and Reno15 Pro Mini launched two years apart, so their announced prices reflect different points in time.
  • The S24 launch prices are historical. A live S24 price was not verified for this article, so do not assume the 2024 figure reflects what you would pay today.
  • Bank discounts, exchange bonuses, seller, warranty and the included accessories can shift the effective price of either phone by more than the difference between list prices.

Where to buy

OPPO’s India launch announcement says Reno15 series sales began on 13 January 2026 through Amazon, Flipkart, mainline retail outlets and OPPO’s e-store. Samsung’s January 2024 announcement covered launch prices and prebooking. Neither source confirms current stock or the seller offering the lowest price on any given day, so check listings directly before you commit.

Which phone fits which buyer

  • Choose the Galaxy S24 if you want the smaller, lighter phone, value a documented seven-year update commitment, need NFC, and are content with a 3x optical telephoto as your zoom option.
  • Choose the Reno15 Pro Mini if battery capacity and the highest listed wired charging matter most, you want three high-resolution rear cameras and a larger selfie camera, and you do not need NFC.

Before you buy

  • Confirm the exact variant, RAM and storage, and that the listing is for the India model if you are buying in India.
  • Compare same-day prices across sellers, including bank offers, exchange values and warranty terms, rather than relying on launch figures.
  • If you rely on phone-based contactless payments, confirm NFC on the specific model before purchase.
  • Check the charging section before budgeting for a charger; the Reno15 Pro Mini’s maximum wired speed requires a compatible charger.
  • If update length is a deciding factor for the OPPO, confirm its support policy with OPPO India before buying.
