Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteThe Samsung Galaxy S24 5G is the more compact choice, with a 6.2-inch display; the OnePlus 13R is substantially larger at 6.78 inches and lists a 6,000 mAh battery, a 1–120 Hz display and detailed performance hardware for its North American model. Neither is universally better: the right pick depends on how much you value a smaller phone, a larger screen, camera needs, software preferences and the prices available where you live.
Samsung Galaxy S24 5G vs OnePlus 13R: key specs
This comparison uses Samsung’s US product material and the OnePlus North American specifications. OnePlus says product details may change, and configurations can differ by country. The available official specifications are not equally detailed for both phones, so the table includes only supported comparisons rather than filling gaps with assumptions.

Which phone is better for your priorities?
Choose the Galaxy S24 if a smaller display matters most
At 6.2 inches, the Galaxy S24 has the smaller display of these two phones. That makes it the clearest option to investigate if you prefer a more compact screen. Display diagonal alone does not establish overall handset dimensions or how comfortable either phone feels in your hand.
Choose the OnePlus 13R if you want a larger, high-refresh display
OnePlus lists a 6.78-inch panel with 2780 × 1264 resolution, 450 ppi and dynamic refresh from 1 to 120 Hz. Those figures establish the listed size and display specifications, not a measured advantage in brightness, color, outdoor visibility or overall image quality.

Consider the OnePlus 13R for its listed hardware configuration
The North American OnePlus 13R specification page names a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, 12 GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 256 GB of UFS 4.0 storage. Those are specific to the configuration listed on that regional page. A like-for-like processor and memory comparison with the Galaxy S24 requires specifications for the S24 variant sold in your country.
Use camera priorities, not camera counts, to decide
The OnePlus 13R has a listed 50 MP main camera with optical image stabilization, a 50 MP 2× optical telephoto camera and an 8 MP ultrawide camera. These specifications describe its hardware; megapixels and lens count do not establish which phone produces better photos. The available information does not include matched camera testing, so choose based on side-by-side sample photos and the types of shots you take.
Battery capacity and charging: what the numbers tell you
OnePlus lists the 13R’s battery at 6,000 mAh typical capacity and 5,860 mAh rated capacity. Its North American specifications list 55W SUPERVOOC charging and say charging can reach up to 80W with certain named OnePlus adapters. The 80W figure should not be treated as the included charging speed or as a guarantee that every adapter supports it.

Battery capacity alone cannot tell you how long a phone lasts in real use. The available sources do not provide controlled, comparable battery-life tests for these two phones, so they do not establish a battery-life winner.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What is the price difference?
The available price figures do not establish a current, like-for-like price gap. When Samsung’s US buying guide was retrieved on 2026-10-07, it displayed a “From $549.99” price. Separately, Samsung’s US MSRP sheet effective May 2024 listed $859.99 for an unlocked Galaxy S24 with 8 GB RAM and 256 GB storage. These are different price contexts and dates, not a current matched comparison. The official sources reviewed did not establish a comparable current US price for the OnePlus 13R.
For a meaningful comparison, check both phones in the same country and on the same day. Match storage capacity, new or used condition and seller, and account for promotions, trade-in requirements or carrier conditions that affect the displayed price. Samsung’s listed “from” price is not a universal price or a guarantee of what you will pay.

Software positioning and regional limits
OnePlus lists OxygenOS 15 based on Android 15 for the 13R. Samsung’s cited launch announcement framed the Galaxy S24 series around Galaxy AI; that is Samsung’s launch positioning, not a head-to-head assessment of software features. Samsung executive TM Roh described the launch as “our initial step toward a new era of AI phones” in the Galaxy S24 worldwide availability announcement. OnePlus’s January 7, 2025 North American launch announcement described the 13R as designed for users seeking flagship-level performance and AI at a more affordable price point; this is company positioning, not an independently verified value judgment (OnePlus launch announcement).
Do not assume the North American OnePlus processor, memory, price, charging details or other specifications apply worldwide. For either phone, confirm the exact country-specific model, configuration and available software features before buying.
