The Samsung Galaxy S24+ 5G is the S24 family’s large-screen middle option: it pairs a sharp 6.7-inch QHD+ display, adaptive 120Hz refresh and a long software-support commitment with a less ambitious camera system than the S24 Ultra. It makes the most sense if you want a spacious flagship phone but do not need the Ultra’s longer optical zoom. Before buying, check the exact regional model and current local price: chipset, network features, and value can vary.

What the Galaxy S24+ offers

Samsung announced the Galaxy S24 family on January 17, 2024. The Plus sits between the standard S24 and S24 Ultra in size and capability. Its main distinction from the standard S24 is a larger, higher-resolution screen; its main compromise against the Ultra is a less extensive camera setup.

Feature Galaxy S24+
Display 6.7-inch QHD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X, adaptive 1–120Hz; Samsung’s measurement accounting for rounded corners is 6.5 inches.
Rear cameras 50MP main with optical image stabilization, 12MP ultra-wide, and 10MP telephoto with 3x optical zoom.
Front camera 12MP.
Battery 4,900mAh typical capacity; 4,755mAh rated minimum.
Memory and storage 12GB RAM and 256GB or 512GB UFS 4.0 configurations listed in the reviewed configurations; availability varies by market.
Operating system at launch Android 14 with One UI 6.1.
Durability IP68 rating; aluminum frame and Gorilla Glass Victus 2 listed by GSMArena.

Samsung’s global announcement lists 5G and Wi-Fi 6E for the S24+. Samsung’s US newsroom materials list Wi-Fi 7, so connectivity details should be checked for the market and model you are buying. Carrier bands and 5G availability also depend on your provider.

How good is the screen and everyday experience?

The Plus’s 6.7-inch QHD+ panel is its strongest reason to choose it over the standard S24. Samsung specifies adaptive refresh from 1Hz to 120Hz, allowing smoother scrolling and animation while adapting refresh to displayed content. If you prefer a compact phone, the larger screen is also the trade-off: the Sub6 variant weighs about 196g, and Samsung notes that weight can vary by market.

#1 Best Overall
Samsung Galaxy S24+ Plus 5G, US Version, 256GB, Onyx Black - Unlocked (Renewed)
  • 6.7″ Dynamic AMOLED 2X, QHD+ display with 1–120 Hz adaptive refresh and a peak brightness of ~2,600 nits — giving a noticeably sharper, brighter screen than the base S24.

Samsung announced Galaxy AI features including Live Translate, Note Assist, Chat Assist and Circle to Search. Their availability and behavior are software-dependent; whether they are useful depends on your language, apps and workflow.

How do the cameras compare?

The rear system covers everyday wide, ultra-wide and 3x telephoto shooting. The main camera is 50MP with OIS, but the telephoto is a 10MP unit with 3x optical zoom. GSMArena’s reviewer assessed the zoom camera as an area that could be better; that is the reviewer’s judgment, not a guarantee of how every owner will rate it.

  • 6.7″ Dynamic AMOLED 2X, QHD+ display with 1–120 Hz adaptive refresh and a peak brightness of ~2,600 nits — giving a noticeably sharper, brighter screen than the base S24.

The S24 Ultra is the more appropriate family member to examine if distant subjects are a priority: TechRadar’s comparison lists a 200MP main camera and 5x periscope hardware for the Ultra, versus the Plus’s 50MP main and 3x telephoto. Those specifications do not, by themselves, establish which phone takes better pictures in every situation.

Battery and charging: what to expect

Samsung lists a 4,900mAh typical battery and supports wired charging up to 45W. Battery life depends on network conditions, settings and use, so capacity alone does not establish how long a particular person will go between charges.

Samsung says the phone can reach up to 65% in around 30 minutes using a 45W adapter and 5A USB-C cable, with services, features and the screen off in its internal lab conditions. This is not a guaranteed everyday charging time. Samsung sells the adapter and cable separately and recommends its 45W adapter and a 5A cable.

Software support and durability

Updates

Samsung commits to seven generations of OS upgrades and seven years of security updates. Timing and availability vary by device model and market. As one specific example rather than a universal rollout statement, Samsung’s update log for model SM-S926B lists Android 16 and the 2026-09-05 security patch in an update released on 2026-09-30.

Water and dust resistance

IP68 is based on a laboratory test, not a promise that the phone is permanently waterproof. Samsung specifies submersion in up to 1.5 metres of freshwater for up to 30 minutes and advises against beach or pool use. Resistance can diminish with wear.

Galaxy S24 vs S24+ vs S24 Ultra

Model What sets it apart Best fit
Galaxy S24 6.2-inch FHD+ display, compared with the Plus’s 6.7-inch QHD+ panel. Someone prioritizing a smaller phone and willing to give up the Plus’s larger, higher-resolution screen.
Galaxy S24+ 6.7-inch QHD+ display and 3x optical telephoto; it occupies the middle ground in size and camera reach. Someone who wants a large, sharp screen without the Ultra’s more elaborate zoom hardware.
Galaxy S24 Ultra TechRadar lists a 200MP main camera and 5x periscope hardware in its comparison; it also occupies the larger, higher-end position in the family. Someone for whom longer optical zoom and the Ultra’s camera hardware justify considering that model.

These are family-level distinctions, not a current price comparison: street prices and stock change by region and seller.

Pros and cons

Pros

  • Large QHD+ adaptive 120Hz display, with a clear resolution advantage over the standard S24’s FHD+ screen.
  • 12GB RAM and up to 512GB storage in listed configurations, with availability depending on market.
  • Seven generations of OS upgrades and seven years of security updates promised by Samsung.
  • Versatile rear-camera coverage for standard, ultra-wide and 3x optical-zoom shots.
  • IP68 freshwater resistance under Samsung’s stated laboratory conditions.

Cons

  • The 10MP telephoto camera and 3x optical zoom offer less long-range reach than the Ultra’s camera hardware.
  • The 6.7-inch size and roughly 196g Sub6-variant weight may be unwieldy for people who prefer compact phones.
  • Chipset and connectivity differ by market, so one regional review or model listing may not describe another.
  • Getting Samsung’s stated maximum wired charging rate requires a separately sold adapter and appropriate 5A cable.
  • Whether it is good value depends on the price of the exact model, storage and condition available locally.

Which regional S24+ are you buying?

The chipset is not the same worldwide. GSMArena identifies Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 models in the US, Canada and China, and Exynos 2400 models internationally; its review unit was an Exynos model. Do not apply that review’s variant-specific findings automatically to every S24+. Check the model number, supported carrier bands, Wi-Fi specification and local storage options before purchase.

For context on pricing, TechRadar cited a base launch price of $999, £999 or AU$1,699. Those are historical launch figures, not current quotes. Compare today’s local offers while checking the storage capacity, new or refurbished condition, warranty, regional model and whether charging accessories are included.

Verdict: should you buy the Galaxy S24+?

The Galaxy S24+ is a strong fit for someone who wants a large, high-resolution display, flagship-level specifications and extended software support, but does not need the S24 Ultra’s longer zoom reach. The standard S24 is worth considering if the Plus feels too large; the Ultra merits a look if camera zoom is a priority. Make the final call using the exact regional model and current price rather than the original launch price or results from a different chipset variant.
