The right Galaxy S23 Ultra case depends on what you need most: a documented drop-test claim, a slimmer transparent look, extra grip, or a way to carry cards and accessories. Samsung’s Rugged Gadget Case is the clearest choice in this material for a maker-published drop-test specification; Spigen’s Ultra Hybrid is a transparent alternative with maker-described raised edges and camera protection. Neither manufacturer’s claims guarantee how a case will perform in every real-world drop.
Start by checking the exact phone model
Choose a listing that explicitly names the Galaxy S23 Ultra. A case advertised for the Galaxy S23 series may cover several models, but the smaller Galaxy S23 and other variants are not interchangeable with the Ultra. Check the listing’s model name and, where available, its product or model number before ordering. Also verify that the case leaves the Ultra’s buttons and camera array accessible.

Samsung identifies eight case styles for the Galaxy S23 series: Clear Case, Silicone Case, Leather Case, Smart View Wallet Case, Silicone Grip Case, Frame Case, Clear Gadget Case and Rugged Gadget Case. Availability can vary by region. Samsung’s UK listing identifies the S23 Ultra Rugged Gadget Case as model EF-RS918CBEGWW.
For a maker-documented drop-test claim: Samsung Rugged Gadget Case
Samsung’s UK product page reports that the Rugged Gadget Case passed a MIL-STD-810G Transit Drop test from 1.5 meters onto steel under the test’s stated temperature and humidity conditions. That is a manufacturer-reported test result, not a promise that the case or phone will survive every drop, surface, angle or pattern of use.

- Compatible with Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra (Only - Not Compatible with Galaxy S23/S23+)
- Multi-layer defense: solid inner shell and soft outer cover (No Built in Screen Protector)
- OtterArmor Defense protects your OtterBox case from many common bacteria
- Case Only: "Belt Clip Holster not included"
Samsung’s US Newsroom described the case as “drop-tested to meet military-grade standards” and its footnote specifies a different standard label: MIL-STD-810H Transit Drop, 1.5 meters onto steel, at 15°C to 35°C and 0–80% relative humidity. The two sources use different standard designations—810G on the UK product page and 810H in the Newsroom footnote—so they should not be treated as one identical specification. Samsung also notes that performance can vary with actual use and other factors. Read Samsung Newsroom’s S23 accessories description and test footnote.
The Rugged Gadget Case is also designed around interchangeable accessories: Samsung describes a ring grip or card holder that can be fitted to the back. These features may suit someone who values a secure hold or a simple carrying option more than the least possible bulk. Samsung does not publish an independent comparison showing how its protection ranks against other cases.

For a clear look: compare Samsung Clear styles and Spigen Ultra Hybrid
If you want the phone’s finish to remain visible, Samsung’s Clear Case is one option in its S23 range. Samsung says of its transparent case, “This transparent case will let you show off your phone’s unique color.” Confirm that the exact clear-case listing is for the S23 Ultra, since Samsung’s range includes multiple S23 models.

Spigen’s Ultra Hybrid is another transparent-style option listed for the Galaxy S23 series. Spigen describes raised bezels, a camera guard and wireless-charging compatibility. Those are the maker’s feature claims, not independent test findings. Check that the specific Ultra Hybrid variant is for the S23 Ultra, rather than another S23 model. See Spigen’s Ultra Hybrid product listing.

For grip, cards or a carry option: match the feature to your routine
Samsung’s case range includes styles with different handling and storage features. Its support page describes options with card slots, straps, and attachable stands or straps; the Rugged Gadget Case page specifies an interchangeable ring grip or card holder. These accessories can make a phone easier to hold or carry, but the feature set depends on the case and accessory combination. Check what is included in the particular regional listing rather than assuming every style has every add-on.
- Grip: Look for a ring or grip feature if you often hold the phone one-handed.
- Cards: Choose a wallet-style case or compatible card-holder accessory if carrying a card with the phone matters more than keeping the back bare.
- Hands-free support or carrying: Check for a stand or strap option and confirm whether it is built in, included, or separately attachable.
Samsung’s accessory descriptions are available on its Galaxy S23 accessories support page. They describe product features, not a controlled comparison of grip strength or drop protection.

For extra screen coverage, check the protector and case together
Samsung lists a screen protector for the S23 series as an added screen-protection accessory. Treat it as an optional companion, not a replacement for a case. Before buying, check that the film listing specifically fits the S23 Ultra and that it works with the case you selected; a general S23-series label alone does not establish compatibility with every Ultra case.

How to choose between the documented options
- Prioritize a published drop-test specification: Consider Samsung’s Rugged Gadget Case and read the test standard and conditions attached to the source you are relying on.
- Prioritize a transparent back: Compare Samsung’s Clear Case with Spigen’s Ultra Hybrid, verifying the exact S23 Ultra fit in either listing.
- Prioritize grip or carrying features: Check Samsung’s Rugged Gadget and other accessory-compatible case styles for the specific ring, card holder, strap or stand you want.
- Prioritize a low-bulk feel: Compare the actual dimensions and design of the exact listings. The available product descriptions do not establish a controlled bulk comparison.
For any case, inspect the camera and display edge coverage, button access, material, included accessories and local availability. The cited product pages do not establish current prices or stock across markets, and there is no independent head-to-head protection result here that supports declaring one case universally best.
