The Galaxy S21’s SIM tray is on the phone’s top edge. It is a SIM tray, not an SD-card slot: don’t try to put a memory card in it. If you meant the SIM tray, use the ejector pin in the tray’s small hole, taking care not to confuse it with the nearby microphone opening.
Where to find the Galaxy S21 SIM tray
Look along the phone’s top edge for the outline of the tray and its small eject hole. Samsung’s instructions place the SIM tray on the top of the device. How to remove the tray safely
- Hold the phone so you can see its top edge, then locate the SIM tray outline and the hole in the tray.
- Insert the SIM ejector pin straight into the tray’s hole, perpendicular to the edge. Do not press into the nearby microphone opening.
- Ease the tray out gently. Use a nano-SIM and make sure it sits securely in the tray before reinserting it. Samsung cautions against reinserting a wet tray. See Samsung’s Galaxy S21 Series handling guidance.
Is the SIM tray an SD-card slot?
No. The tray described in Samsung’s instructions is for SIM cards; they do not establish that a microSD card can be inserted there. Don’t force an SD card into the SIM tray. The available Samsung material here does not settle whether a particular Galaxy S21 model supports microSD storage, so check the specifications for your exact model and region before buying a memory card.

Samsung says supported configurations can use up to two nano-SIMs. Its UK guide describes two-sided tray variants marked SIM 1 and SIM 2. eSIM is also available where supported by the carrier; physical-SIM and eSIM availability can vary by model, region, and network. Check Samsung’s instructions and your carrier’s compatibility details for your device.
