The Galaxy M56 and Nothing Phone (3a) both offer 120Hz AMOLED-class displays and 5,000mAh batteries, but they take different approaches to cameras, charging and long-term software support. A reliable current price difference cannot be stated from the available figures: Samsung’s prices are launch offers from April 2025, while the Nothing price is a retailer snapshot dated 4 October 2026.
India price difference: compare live prices for the same storage
Samsung’s 17 April 2025 India launch announcement listed introductory prices for the Galaxy M56 5G, each including a ₹3,000 instant bank discount. These are historical offer prices, not verified current prices. Gadgets 360 listed the Nothing Phone (3a) at ₹24,999 at Amazon India on 4 October 2026; that dated retailer snapshot may change.

Which phone’s cameras suit you?
Choose based on the extra lens you will use
The clearest hardware distinction is the third rear camera. The Galaxy M56 has a macro camera for close-up subjects; the Phone (3a) has a telephoto camera for zoomed-in framing. Both list a 50MP OIS main camera and an 8MP ultra-wide. The listed resolutions do not establish which phone takes better photos: megapixel counts alone do not determine image quality.
Consider video and selfie specifications
Samsung specifically describes HDR and 4K 30fps 10-bit HDR recording for the M56’s 12MP front camera. The Nothing front camera is listed as 32MP by a secondary India specification page. These are different kinds of evidence and do not, on their own, establish which camera performs better in real use.

Size, charging and software support
Weight and dimensions
On the listed specifications, the M56 is 180g and 7.2mm thick, while the Phone (3a) is 201g and 8.35mm thick. The Nothing measurements come from a secondary India listing; regional specifications can vary. Dimensions alone cannot establish which handset will feel more comfortable in your hand.

Charging
Nothing lists 50W charging and Samsung lists 45W for the M56. Samsung says its 45W charger is sold separately, so account for the cost of a compatible charger if you need one. The listed wattage figures are not a direct measure of real-world charging time.

Software update commitment
Samsung’s India launch announcement promises six Android-generation upgrades and six years of security updates; that is a manufacturer commitment, not a statement that every update has already arrived. Nothing’s accessed product page identifies Nothing OS 3 but does not state a region-specific update commitment in the available text. Buyers who place a high priority on a documented update duration have a clearer commitment from Samsung in these sources.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Which should you buy?
- Consider the Galaxy M56 if Samsung’s stated update commitment matters to you, you prefer a lighter and thinner listed design, or you would use a macro camera. Include a separately sold charger in your budget if needed.
- Consider the Nothing Phone (3a) if a telephoto camera better matches how you take photos, or its listed 50W charging and display specifications suit your priorities.
- Let current value decide only after checking the same RAM and storage tier at checkout. The available historical Samsung offer and dated Nothing listing do not prove a current price advantage for either phone.
Both use 4nm processors, but no directly comparable independent benchmark is established here. Chipset names alone are not enough to conclude which phone is faster.
