The vivo S2 5G has the larger, higher-resolution display, a higher-capacity battery and faster listed charging; the Samsung Galaxy M36 5G offers stated optical image stabilization, an ultrawide rear camera and longer vendor-promised software support. Which is better for you depends on those priorities—and on the live price of the exact variant in India. The available prices below come from different dates, so they are not a current like-for-like price comparison.

Display specifications for the M36 in this comparison are from 91mobiles rather than the retrieved Samsung launch announcement. The two vendors describe software upgrades differently: Samsung specifies Android upgrade generations, while vivo says OS update generations. Those are the manufacturers’ commitments, not independent guarantees of update timing.

Which phone has the better display?
On the listed specifications, vivo S2 has a larger screen and more pixels: 6.83 inches at 2800×1260, compared with the M36’s 6.7 inches at 1080×2340. Both are listed at up to 120Hz, and the M36 panel is described as Super AMOLED by 91mobiles while vivo calls the S2 panel AMOLED. The S2 is the clearer fit if screen size and resolution top your list. Resolution and panel labels alone do not establish which screen looks better in person.
Performance: what the processor information can—and cannot—tell you
vivo identifies the S2’s processor as the Dimensity 7360-Turbo, an octa-core chip built on a 4nm process. 91mobiles lists the Galaxy M36 with Samsung’s Exynos 1380. The available information does not provide a consistent, independently tested basis for declaring one phone faster in everyday use. Benchmark scores published by 91mobiles are third-party test snapshots, not a guarantee of performance across apps, settings or software versions.

Camera differences: stabilization, ultrawide and selfies
Samsung highlights optical image stabilization (OIS) on the M36’s 50MP triple rear camera. 91mobiles describes that rear setup as a 50MP main camera, an 8MP ultrawide and a 2MP depth camera. vivo lists a 50MP main camera and 2MP secondary rear camera for the S2, plus a 32MP front camera.
- Choose the M36 on paper if OIS or an ultrawide camera is more useful to you. These are specified features, not proof of better image quality.
- Consider the S2 if the listed 32MP selfie camera matters more. A higher megapixel count by itself does not establish sharper or more natural-looking selfies.
No independent camera testing is available here, so the specifications cannot settle differences in image processing, low-light results or video quality.

Battery capacity and charging: the listed advantage goes to vivo
Samsung specifies a 5000mAh battery with 25W charging for the M36. vivo lists 7050mAh and 44W charging for the S2. Those figures make the S2 the higher-capacity and higher-wattage option on paper, but they do not predict real-world battery life or a specific charging time: usage, software, charger and other conditions matter.

vivo also advertises up to 33 hours of video playback, 43.7 hours of local music playback, 49 hours of 5G calling and 12.6 hours of Free Fire gaming. These are vivo’s claims, not independent test results, and should not be treated as directly comparable with an independently measured endurance figure for the M36.

Software support and physical protection
Samsung says the Galaxy M36 will receive six generations of Android upgrades and six years of security updates; it ships with One UI 7. vivo says the S2 will receive three generations of OS updates and five years of security updates. The wording is not identical, so compare each commitment as stated by its manufacturer rather than treating the upgrade-generation counts as interchangeable.
Samsung also highlights Corning Gorilla Glass Victus+ protection. The cited vivo specification passage does not state a comparable glass-protection claim; that absence is not evidence that the phone has no screen protection.

India prices and availability: compare the same variant on the same date
Samsung’s India announcement on June 30, 2025 gave introductory prices for the Galaxy M36 and said sales would begin July 12, 2025 through Samsung.com, Amazon and selected retailers. The vivo India store showed a selected S2 8GB+128GB option at ₹42,999 when checked on October 7, 2026. These are different snapshots: the Samsung figures are historical launch pricing, while the vivo figure is a store listing at the stated research date. They do not establish today’s price gap.

For a purchase decision, check the current listing for each phone and match RAM/storage, seller, bank offers and any exchange discount before comparing totals. A 91mobiles comparison page also reports ₹21,999 for the M36 and ₹41,999 for the S2, but that third-party snapshot has different timing and listing conditions; it is not a substitute for checking a current retailer price.
