How the displays and cameras differ
Both phones list a 120Hz OLED-class display, but panel names and resolutions alone do not establish equal brightness, colour, viewing quality or outdoor readability. POCO’s larger stated diagonal is 6.77 inches; Samsung lists 16.91cm across the full rectangle, with a smaller measurement accounting for rounded corners.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteThe clearest rear-camera hardware distinction is the M36’s 8MP ultrawide camera and listed OIS, features not listed for the M8. The M8 instead has a 50MP main camera and a 2MP depth camera. That gives Samsung a more varied set of listed rear-camera options, but it does not prove better photos or video. Both manufacturers list 4K recording at 30fps from the rear camera.

POCO lists a 20MP front camera, versus Samsung’s 13MP. More megapixels do not by themselves establish better selfies; image processing, optics and conditions matter too.
Battery, charging and portability
POCO lists a typical 5,520mAh battery, 520mAh more than Samsung’s 5,000mAh typical capacity. The M8 also lists 45W wired charging and up to 18W wired reverse charging. These specifications do not establish which phone lasts longer in everyday use: capacity is not runtime, and comparable battery testing is not available here.

These are not equivalent storage configurations, so compare the exact variant being sold in India before judging value or quoting a price.

Samsung states that M36 security updates are valid until 31 December 2031. The cited official POCO page does not provide a directly comparable support end date, so buyers who prioritize a documented security-support period should verify POCO’s current India commitment rather than assume it matches Samsung’s.

Which one should you buy?
- Consider the Galaxy M36 if an ultrawide rear camera, listed OIS, microSD expansion up to 2TB on the cited India model, or Samsung’s stated security-update period through 31 December 2031 matters most.
- Consider the POCO M8 if you prefer the lighter listed weight, a larger stated battery, 45W wired charging, wired reverse charging, or a higher-resolution front-camera specification.
- Compare exact India offers before deciding. The cited POCO page is for Singapore, and the available third-party price figures do not match a verified RAM/storage pair. Confirm the local SKU, warranty, charger and seller terms.
Neither the listed processor details nor the battery capacities are enough to declare a performance or battery-life winner. Choose by the hardware and support details that match your priorities, not by treating one specification as proof of overall superiority.
