In India, OPPO’s F31 5G offers the larger stated battery and faster maximum charging, while Samsung’s Galaxy M36 5G costs less at the listed launch prices and has the longer published software-update commitment. The better fit depends on whether battery capacity, charging, camera features, or long-term updates matter most—and on today’s local prices, which may differ from launch pricing.

Which phone makes more sense for your priorities?
Choose the M36 if long-term updates and camera stabilization matter more
- Samsung published the stronger explicit update commitment in the reviewed announcements: six Android upgrade generations and six years of security updates, compared with OPPO’s listed two OS years and three security years.
- Samsung explicitly identifies OIS on the M36’s 50MP rear camera. OPPO lists a 50MP main camera, but the reviewed base F31 specification page does not state OIS.
- The M36’s listed 8GB/128GB launch price was INR 5,000 below the same-capacity F31 configuration.
Choose the F31 if battery capacity and maximum charging rate lead
- OPPO lists a 7,000mAh typical battery and up to 80W SUPERVOOC charging, against Samsung’s 5,000mAh typical battery and 25W charging.
- The F31 has a 16MP front camera on its specification page, compared with the M36’s announced 13MP front camera. Megapixel counts alone do not establish which camera takes better pictures.
- The larger battery capacity does not by itself prove longer real-world battery life; usage, settings, network conditions, and testing affect runtime.
How to compare the displays and performance fairly
Both manufacturers specify FHD-class displays with refresh rates up to 120Hz. Samsung’s launch announcement names a Super AMOLED panel for the M36; the reviewed base F31 specification page gives its resolution and refresh rate but does not identify panel technology. These specifications do not establish which screen is brighter outdoors or looks better in person.
The processor names—Exynos 1380 and Dimensity 6300—also are not a reliable stand-alone ranking of everyday speed or sustained gaming performance. The available manufacturer specifications do not provide a comparable independent benchmark, battery-runtime test, or camera test for these two phones. Avoid treating either device’s hardware figures as proof of measured superiority.

What to verify before buying
- Compare the exact RAM and storage variant; the entry-price gap compares 6GB RAM on Samsung with 8GB on OPPO.
- Check the price currently offered in your area rather than relying on 2025 launch pricing.
- Confirm whether a charger is included and that any adapter supports the charging mode you expect. Samsung says its approximately 25W charger is sold separately; OPPO lists multiple supported charging standards.
- For a case or screen protector, verify the exact handset model and fit rather than assuming accessories for another model in a series will work.
Samsung said M36 availability would begin on 12 July 2025 through Samsung.com, Amazon, and selected retail stores. OPPO named its E-store, Flipkart, Amazon, and offline stores for the F31 series, with the base F31 sale scheduled for 27 September 2025. Those were launch-channel details, not confirmation of current stock.
