That is a ₹12,500 difference, but it compares Samsung’s announced launch price with vivo’s store price on that date—not two prices checked on the same basis. The T5x lists a sharper screen, larger battery, faster charging and higher-resolution front camera; the M17e offers microSD expansion and a stated six years of security updates.

Because the figures have different price bases and dates, check both sellers’ live prices before buying.

Which phone has the better display?
Both manufacturers list an LCD with a refresh rate of up to 120Hz. The clearest specification difference is resolution: vivo lists 2344 × 1080 for the T5x, while Samsung lists 720 × 1600 for the M17e. The T5x therefore has the higher listed resolution. vivo also specifies 1200-nit HBM; no directly comparable brightness figure is established for the M17e in the cited specifications.
Which has the better battery and charging?
vivo lists a 7200mAh battery and maximum 44W charging when using its standard charger. Samsung lists 6000mAh typical capacity for the M17e, but the reviewed Samsung sources do not establish its charging wattage. These capacity and power figures do not predict how long either phone lasts in a particular person’s use or how long it takes to charge: those outcomes require comparable testing.

How do the cameras compare?
The T5x lists a 50MP Sony IMX852 main rear camera, a 2MP bokeh camera and a 32MP front camera. The M17e lists 50MP and 2MP rear cameras and an 8MP front camera; no optical image stabilisation is listed for it. The T5x has the higher front-camera resolution on paper, but megapixel counts and sensor names alone do not establish which phone takes better photos or selfies.

Software updates
Samsung states that the M17e will receive six OS upgrades and six years of security updates. The reviewed vivo T5x specifications page identifies Android 16 and OriginOS 6 but does not state an equivalent update duration. That difference is about what the cited manufacturer pages commit to; it does not by itself assess update delivery in practice.

Storage expansion
The M17e supports microSD cards up to 2TB and has a hybrid SIM/microSD slot, so using a memory card may affect how the SIM slot is used. vivo lists three T5x configurations up to 8GB/256GB and says ROM expansion is not supported.
Water resistance and weight
vivo gives the T5x an IP68/IP69 rating and cautions that resistance is not permanent and that the device is not a professional waterproof phone. It weighs 219g. Samsung describes the M17e as dust- and water-resistant, but the cited Samsung sources do not establish an IP code for a direct rating comparison; its listed weight is 199g.

Which should you buy?
- Choose the Galaxy M17e 5G if the lower cited price, microSD expansion or Samsung’s stated update duration matters most. Confirm its current price, since ₹15,499 is the announced launch price for the 6GB/128GB model.
- Consider the vivo T5x 5G if you prioritise the higher listed display resolution, larger stated battery, 44W charging or higher-resolution front camera and are comfortable with the cited higher store price.
Both phones are India-market models, and their published 5G bands differ. Check the bands supported by your carrier in your location against the phone’s listed bands before buying. The available specifications do not establish an overall performance, endurance or camera winner: the chipset listings are not a substitute for a common benchmark, and no independent comparative testing is established here.
