The Samsung Galaxy M17e 5G is the stronger fit if you need 5G, a 120 Hz screen, expandable storage, or Samsung’s published six-year security-update commitment. The realme P4 Lite (4G) has the larger stated battery and 15 W charging, but it does not support 5G. The available prices are not like-for-like: Samsung’s figures are launch prices, while realme’s ₹16,499 figure is a sale listing whose exact variant is not established.

Price difference: why the published figures do not show a fair current gap
Samsung announced launch prices of ₹13,999 for the 4 GB/128 GB Galaxy M17e 5G and ₹15,499 for the 6 GB/128 GB version. The announcement said sales would begin on 20 March 2026 through Samsung.com, Amazon, and selected retailers. These are launch prices, not verified current offers. realme’s India sale page listed the P4 Lite at ₹16,499 as observed on 4 October 2026. That is a promotional listing, and the available price information does not establish which RAM/storage variant it applies to. (realme India sale page)
Because one figure is a launch price and the other a sale listing with an unspecified variant, subtracting them would not give a reliable like-for-like price difference. Samsung’s product page showed “Not for sale” when accessed, so it does not establish a current checkout price. Compare same-day prices for the exact variants, and treat bank or exchange discounts separately from the listed price.

Which phone should you buy?
Choose the Galaxy M17e 5G if connectivity and long-term support matter
- You need 5G; the P4 Lite covered here is a 4G phone.
- You prefer a display with a higher listed refresh rate: up to 120 Hz versus realme’s up to 90 Hz.
- You want microSD expansion or Samsung’s stated six generations of OS upgrades and six years of security updates from first global launch.
- You value the higher-resolution camera hardware on paper. The 50 MP main-camera specification does not, by itself, establish better photographs than the realme camera.
Consider the realme P4 Lite (4G) if battery capacity and charging are priorities
- Its listed typical battery capacity is 6300 mAh, compared with Samsung’s 6000 mAh; capacity alone does not establish real-world battery life.
- It lists 15 W VOOC charging and 6 W reverse wired charging.
- Its display is slightly larger by diagonal measurement, at 6.74 inches versus 6.7 inches.
- realme lists a protective case and screen-protection film in the box contents.
Do not confuse the P4 Lite 4G with the P4 Lite 5G
The comparison above uses the 4G model on realme India’s specifications page. The distinct realme P4 Lite 5G is listed with a 7000 mAh battery, 144 Hz display, Dimensity 6300, IP64 rating, and Android 16-based software. Those are not specifications of the P4 Lite 4G.
