The Galaxy M17 5G is the lower-cost, expandable-storage option; the Nothing Phone (4b) offers a faster-refresh display and a larger battery in its India configuration. A recent 91mobiles listing snapshot put the cited versions ₹9,801 apart, but the phones have different RAM capacities and the prices are not guaranteed checkout prices. The better choice depends on whether the Nothing’s screen and battery advantages matter more to you than the M17’s lower listed price, microSD support and Samsung’s stated update plan.
Price difference: the Nothing costs more in the cited snapshot
A recent 91mobiles comparison-page snapshot showed the Samsung Galaxy M17 5G at ₹21,999 on Amazon and the Nothing Phone (4b) at ₹31,800 on Amazon, a difference of ₹9,801. These are marketplace listing prices reported by 91mobiles, not confirmed live checkout prices. Check the retailer, stock, offers and exact variant before buying; prices can change.

The configurations are not identical: Samsung’s cited model has 6GB RAM and 128GB storage, while Nothing India lists 8GB RAM and 128GB storage. Both have 128GB onboard storage, but the extra RAM on the Nothing means this is not a strictly like-for-like comparison. The price snapshot does not establish what either model costs in an otherwise matched RAM configuration.

Display measurements follow each maker’s stated convention, so the small diagonal difference should not decide the purchase on its own. Nothing’s 120Hz adaptive refresh rate is higher on paper than Samsung’s 90Hz, which can make scrolling and supported animations look smoother; this specification alone does not establish overall display quality.

What the display and battery differences mean
Refresh rate
Both phones use Super AMOLED panels. The Phone (4b)’s adaptive 120Hz specification gives it the advantage for refresh rate, while the M17’s 90Hz display is still above a standard 60Hz refresh rate. Actual smoothness also depends on the content and software, and no measured head-to-head display test is established by the cited specifications.
Battery capacity and charging
Nothing India lists a 6,000mAh battery for the Phone (4b); its general product page gives a different 5,200mAh figure. For an India purchase, use the India-specific 6,000mAh listing, not the general-page number. Samsung lists 5,000mAh for the M17. Capacity is not the same as measured battery life: no comparable endurance test is available here. Nothing’s claim of reaching 50% in under 30 minutes is a manufacturer claim, not an independent charging result.

Camera hardware does not settle photo quality
The M17 has three listed rear cameras, including a dedicated 5MP ultrawide and 2MP macro alongside its OIS-equipped 50MP main camera. Nothing lists an OIS-equipped 50MP main camera and a 119-degree ultrawide, as well as 4K video. Its listed front camera is 16MP versus 13MP on the Samsung.

Megapixel counts do not establish detail, color, low-light results or video stabilization, and no verified head-to-head camera test is available in the cited material. Choose between them on camera features only if the particular modes you need are confirmed in the manufacturers’ current specifications.

Storage, durability and regional details
Storage expansion
The M17 supports microSD cards up to 2TB, but the card shares a hybrid SIM slot, so using it can affect SIM-card setup. The cited Nothing product material does not establish whether the Phone (4b) supports expandable storage; that is not proof that expansion is impossible. If you rely on a memory card, confirm Nothing’s current India specifications before choosing it.
Water and dust resistance
Samsung lists IP54 and Gorilla Glass Victus for the M17; Nothing lists IP64 for the Phone (4b). The IP ratings describe different levels of dust protection, while neither rating should be treated as permission to immerse a phone in water. They also do not, by themselves, establish warranty coverage for liquid or dust damage.

NFC availability in India
Nothing’s support information says NFC is unavailable on the Phone (4b) in India. If you need NFC for a contactless payment or other local use, verify that requirement against the specific Indian model rather than assuming the feature is included because it may be available in another region.

For Nothing, 91mobiles lists three OS updates and six years of security updates. That duration is a secondary-source listing and was not corroborated by a dedicated official Nothing support policy in the available product information. If update longevity is a deciding factor, check Nothing’s current official support terms for the Indian model before purchase.
Which phone should you choose?
Choose the Galaxy M17 5G if
- You want the lower listed price in the cited snapshot and are comfortable checking the live offer yourself.
- You need microSD expansion and can work with the hybrid SIM arrangement.
- You value Samsung’s published OS-upgrade plan and its dated India security listing.
Choose the Nothing Phone (4b) if
- You prioritize a 120Hz adaptive display and a larger battery capacity in the India listing.
- You want stereo sound or Nothing OS, as specified in the product material.
- The verified price for your chosen configuration makes its additional features worth paying for.
This is a specification-based choice, not a measured verdict on performance, battery endurance or camera quality. The comparison listing does not provide a verified Phone (4b) benchmark or review result, so chipset names alone should not be used to claim that one is faster.
