Specifications are not a substitute for a controlled head-to-head test. The same stated processor clock speed does not establish equal real-world performance, and maximum charging wattage does not tell you how long a full charge will take. Which screen is better for you?
The M17 has the higher-resolution panel and uses Super AMOLED. Its 1080 × 2340 resolution gives it a clearer specification advantage for fine text and detailed images than the T5 Lite’s 720 × 1600 LCD. The vivo panel is slightly larger diagonally and refreshes at up to 120 Hz, compared with 90 Hz on Samsung. That higher refresh rate may make supported motion look smoother, while the Samsung panel prioritizes resolution and panel type. Which matters more depends on what you notice and use.

Samsung lists optical image stabilization (OIS) for the M17’s 50 MP main camera, alongside 5 MP ultrawide and 2 MP macro cameras. OIS can help counter small movements while taking photos or video, but it does not guarantee a better image in every situation. The T5 Lite’s official product page promotes a 50 MP main rear camera; the extra 0.08 MP auxiliary-camera figure appears in the third-party comparison, not the official vivo specification cited here. Samsung also lists a 13 MP front camera against vivo’s 5 MP. These resolution and feature differences do not establish comparative image quality without equivalent testing.

Battery and charging: vivo has the larger published figures
vivo specifies a 6,500 mAh typical battery and separately gives a 6,355 mAh rated capacity. Samsung lists 5,000 mAh. The T5 Lite also specifies up to 44 W FlashCharge, compared with 25 W wired charging for the M17. vivo says charging power varies with scenario and conditions; actual charging time for either phone depends on the charger, conditions and use. Capacity and maximum wattage alone cannot establish everyday battery life or a guaranteed charging time.
Software support: Samsung states the longer commitment
Samsung advertises six generations of operating-system upgrades and six years of security updates for the M17; its product page lists security updates through 30 September 2031. The 91mobiles comparison lists Android 16, two years of OS upgrades and four years of security updates for the T5 Lite. That vivo duration is attributed to the comparison listing because it was not confirmed on the official vivo page reviewed. Check the manufacturer’s current support information for the device and region before buying.

On 7 October 2026, 91mobiles displayed Amazon India listing prices of ₹21,999 for the Galaxy M17 5G and ₹21,290 for the vivo T5 Lite 5G—a ₹709 difference, with Samsung higher. This is a dated third-party marketplace snapshot, not an official price or a guaranteed checkout total. Seller, stock, offer and memory/storage configuration can affect the listing. Samsung’s 13 October 2025 launch announcement gave historical prices of ₹12,499 for 4 GB/128 GB, ₹13,999 for 6 GB/128 GB and ₹15,499 for 8 GB/128 GB. The release described the base price as inclusive of a special launch offer. These are launch figures, not current prices.

Choose the Samsung Galaxy M17 5G if
- You prefer a higher-resolution Super AMOLED display over a higher refresh rate.
- You value OIS on the main camera and the listed ultrawide and macro cameras.
- The longer software-support commitment stated by Samsung is important to you.
Choose the vivo T5 Lite 5G if
- You prioritize a larger published battery capacity and higher maximum wired-charging power.
