Which is better for display and camera?
Display
Both panels refresh at up to 90 Hz, so scrolling smoothness should be similar on paper. The visible difference is the panel itself: the M17’s FHD+ Super AMOLED is a clear step up from the M06’s HD+ PLS LCD in text sharpness and contrast. The M06’s screen is slightly larger, but that is unlikely to offset the resolution gap.
Cameras
The M17 lists a 50 MP main camera with OIS, plus 5 MP and 2 MP sensors, and a 13 MP front camera. The M06 lists a 50 MP main camera with a 2 MP secondary sensor and an 8 MP front camera, with no OIS. OIS helps with handheld shake in video and low light. Megapixel counts alone do not predict image quality, and no side-by-side image tests are cited here. Samsung’s M06 page lists 1080p/30 fps video; the M17 page captured here does not state a recording rate clearly, so no video comparison is made.

Performance, memory and storage
Samsung lists the same CPU clock speeds (2.4 GHz and 2.0 GHz, octa-core) for both, but the chips differ: Dimensity 6300 in the M06 and Exynos 1330 in the M17. Identical clock figures across different chip families say little about speed, and no independent benchmark was available for this comparison, so neither phone is declared faster.
The M06 page explicitly lists microSD expansion up to 1.5 TB. The M17 page reviewed does not, so confirm the exact variant and SIM/storage setup before assuming you can expand storage.

Battery, charging and audio
Both phones carry a 5,000 mAh (typical) battery and support 25 W charging, with the charger sold separately. Budget for a compatible charger and check package contents before buying. Real battery life will depend on network, display use and settings, not capacity alone.

The M17 specifications reviewed list no such jack, so you would need a USB-C adapter or wireless earphones.

Durability and software updates
The M17 lists IP54 dust and splash protection and Gorilla Glass Victus. Samsung cautions that resistance can diminish with wear and does not advise use at the beach or pool. The M06’s reviewed page shows no IP rating.
For updates, the M17 advertises six generations of OS upgrades and six years of security updates, which Samsung describes as current plans rather than a commitment. The M06’s page shows a security update period through March 31, 2030. The M17’s plan is the longer one, with Samsung’s caveat attached.

What is the price difference?
No verified, like-for-like current price for both phones is available, so no specific saving is claimed. Third-party listings show prices that vary by RAM/storage configuration and change often, which makes them unreliable as a current gap. The M17 is the newer phone and has the stronger specifications, so expect it to be priced above the M06 at the same configuration, but confirm that yourself.

To compare properly:
- Pick the same RAM/storage tier on both (the Samsung pages cover 6 GB/128 GB).
- Check Samsung India and one major retailer on the same day.
- Note whether the figure is list price or a promotional price, and whether bank or exchange offers are included.
- Add the cost of a 25 W charger if you do not already own one.
Which should you choose?
- Choose the M17 5G if you care about screen quality, steadier photos and video, water and dust resistance, or long-term software support. Its extra cost is likely to be worth it if the gap is modest.
- Choose the M06 5G if you want a headphone jack or microSD expansion, or if its live price is clearly lower and you can accept the HD+ LCD and the lack of OIS and an IP rating.
