Which phone has the better camera hardware?
The M17 has the clearest hardware advantage for handheld shooting: Samsung lists OIS on its 50MP main rear camera, while its F16 specification page says the F16 rear camera has no OIS. OIS can help steady the camera against hand movement, but that specification alone does not establish that the M17 takes better photos overall. The phones both have a stated 13MP front camera; Samsung describes the rear cameras as triple-camera systems, with ultra-wide and macro cameras specified for the M17.
Which has better durability?
Samsung specifies IP54 dust and splash resistance and Gorilla Glass Victus for the M17. The cited F16 sources do not state an IP rating or a cover-glass grade, so they do not establish equivalent protection—or prove that the F16 has none. Buyers for whom those documented protections matter have a clearer specification-based reason to choose the M17.

Processors
The F16 uses MediaTek Dimensity 6300, while the M17 uses Samsung Exynos 1330 (6nm). No comparable independent benchmark is established here, so the chip names alone are not enough to conclude which phone is faster in everyday use, gaming or sustained workloads.

Updates
Samsung promises six generations of Android or OS upgrades and six years of security updates for each model. The M17 launched with Android 15 and One UI 7. The broad promise does not by itself provide a model-by-model release timetable, and Samsung’s software plans can change.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Which should you choose?
Choose the Galaxy M17 5G if
- You want OIS on the main rear camera for added handheld stabilization.
- You value the M17’s stated IP54 rating and Gorilla Glass Victus.
- The M17’s current price is close enough to the F16’s for those features to be worth the difference to you.
Choose the Galaxy F16 5G if
- It is currently less expensive at the same RAM/storage tier and you prefer to save the difference.
- You want the shared headline features: 6.7-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED display, 5,000mAh battery, 25W charging support and the stated update commitment.
- You do not need the M17’s specifically listed OIS and durability features.
For either model, compare current same-tier prices rather than relying on the launch-price gap. The specifications available here support a feature-based choice, not a definitive overall winner on speed, battery endurance or image quality.
