On most Samsung Galaxy phones, open Settings > Connections > Mobile Networks, then switch Data Roaming on or off. If the switch is unavailable, turn on Mobile data at Settings > Connections > Data usage > Mobile data. Check with your mobile provider before enabling roaming: access and possible charges depend on your provider and plan.
Where is the roaming setting on a Samsung phone?
- Open the Settings app.
- Tap Connections.
- Tap Mobile Networks.
- Switch Data Roaming on or off.
The exact labels and availability can vary by carrier, Galaxy model, software version, and region. If you cannot find the option, search Settings for “Data roaming” or consult the Samsung support page for your device.

What does Data Roaming do?
Samsung defines data roaming as using a mobile network not owned by your provider to send and receive data. This often happens when you travel abroad, but roaming describes the relationship between networks—not only crossing an international border. Your provider may charge extra, and it must allow roaming for your device and plan. Check its terms before switching the setting on.

Why is Data Roaming greyed out?
Samsung advises checking whether Mobile data is enabled. Open Settings > Connections > Data usage > Mobile data and turn it on, then return to Settings > Connections > Mobile Networks and check Data Roaming again.
