The Samsung Galaxy Buds4 are worth considering if you want open-fit earbuds and use a Galaxy phone, but their fit is the key risk: TechRadar’s full review found they slipped during walks, while an earlier hands-on test was more positive. Their open design also limits how much you can expect from noise cancellation. Choose them for the fit style and Samsung features—not on the assumption they will stay secure or deliver long ANC-on listening.
What are the Galaxy Buds4, and what makes them different?
Samsung announced the Galaxy Buds4 series in February 2026. The standard Buds4 use an open-fit design, while the Buds4 Pro sit in the ear canal with ear tips. That is the most consequential difference for many buyers: open-fit earbuds leave the ear canal unobstructed, whereas a canal-fit model may feel more secure and block more outside sound, depending on your ears and preferences.

Samsung describes the series as having a blade-style design, pinch controls and adaptive sound features. Its regional Buds4 materials list an 11 mm wide-range speaker. These are manufacturer descriptions, not independent proof of fit or audio performance. Samsung also says its design process used data from “hundreds of millions of global ear data points” and “over 10,000 simulations”; those figures describe Samsung’s process, not a guarantee that the earbuds will suit every ear. Do Galaxy Buds4 stay in your ears?
The available fit impressions conflict, so there is no reliable basis for promising that the Buds4 will stay put for you. In TechRadar’s full review, the reviewer reported that the buds slipped during walks and shifted away from their intended position. The same reviewer said movement-related slippage affected listening and bass. This is one person’s experience, not a controlled multi-user test.
In an earlier hands-on article, TechRadar writer Hamish Hector described the standard Buds4 fit more favorably during initial testing, while finding the Buds4 Pro more secure. That was an early impression, not a longer-term fit study. Read the early hands-on account.

If you are between sizes or have had trouble with open-fit earbuds before, treat a return policy as part of the purchase decision. Comfort and stability depend on ear shape and movement; neither Samsung’s design work nor one reviewer’s experience can predict your individual fit.
How good is Galaxy Buds4 noise cancellation?
TechRadar’s reviewer judged the Buds4’s active noise cancellation (ANC) marginal in practical use, noting the open-fit design as part of the context. Because the buds do not seal the ear canal with tips, outside sound can remain more noticeable than with a well-fitting canal-style earbud. ANC cannot make the two fit designs equivalent.

- Active Noise Cancellation (ANC): Blocks out unwanted background noise so you can focus on music, calls, or podcasts
- True Wireless Convenience: Enjoy tangle-free Bluetooth connectivity for seamless listening on the go.
- Intuitive Touch Controls: Easily manage calls, adjust volume, and control playback without reaching for your phone.
- Call Features: With enhanced Super Wideband (SWB) microphones and AI-based noise reduction, the Buds 4 Pro improve call clarity by filtering out surrounding noise and reconstructing lost voice bits, ensuring clear and uninterrupted communication even in noisy environments.Water & Sweat Resistance: These earbuds are IPX7-rated for water resistance, making them more suitable for workouts and outdoor use in varying weather conditions.
- International Model without Domestic Warranty: The Galaxy Buds 4 Pro SM-R640 are an International Version and do not include a local warranty. Optimized for Android, particularly Samsung Galaxy devices, they offer advanced features such as Active Noise Cancellation (ANC), 360 Audio, Hi-Fi sound, and real-time AI-based audio enhancements. While fully compatible with iOS devices via Bluetooth, certain features like ANC customization and 360 Audio are exclusive to Galaxy Android devices.
The Buds4 may suit listening where awareness of your surroundings is useful, but they are a less compelling choice if your priority is reducing noise on a commute or in a busy setting. The evidence here is one reviewer’s assessment rather than a standardized noise-reduction measurement.
How long does the Galaxy Buds4 battery last?
Battery figures depend on ANC use and the test conditions. TechRadar’s review specification table lists six hours with ANC off and up to 30 hours with the case. Its battery section separately reports Samsung’s stated five hours with ANC on. Do not interpret the table’s six-hour figure as an ANC-on claim.

In TechRadar’s own listening test, with ANC and SSC enabled, the reviewer said the earbuds barely reached three hours. That is a reviewer-specific result, not a prediction for every listener; settings and usage can affect runtime. If you expect lengthy ANC-on sessions, the gap between Samsung’s stated figure and that test is worth weighing.

- Choose Buds4 if you prefer an open fit and are comfortable accepting the uncertainty around stability, ANC and ANC-on runtime.
- Consider Buds4 Pro if you specifically want a canal-fit design with ear tips. The earlier hands-on impression found the Pro more secure, but that does not establish that it will fit every buyer better.
- Compare current regional prices before deciding; the launch-price difference alone does not show whether the Pro is worth the extra cost for your needs.
Do Galaxy Buds4 features work with non-Samsung phones?
They can be used across device types, but feature availability is not identical. Samsung’s compatibility chart, dated February 19, 2026, separates Galaxy devices, other Android devices used with the Wear app, and other Bluetooth devices such as iOS devices, PCs and game consoles. It lists basic audio, calls and ANC across those categories, while 24-bit/96-kHz Hi-Fi audio and 360 Audio are listed for Galaxy devices rather than the other categories.
Samsung says head gestures require a Galaxy device running One UI 8.5 or later. The chart also cautions that some Galaxy-device compatibility varies by model. Check Samsung’s device feature chart for your exact phone and operating-system version rather than assuming every Samsung handset supports every feature.
Are the Samsung Galaxy Buds4 worth buying?
The Buds4 make the most sense for someone who prefers open-fit earbuds, values Samsung-connected features and can try them with a return option. Their strongest concern is not a spec-sheet omission but the uncertainty of real-world fit: one full reviewer found movement could dislodge them, while an earlier hands-on writer had a better initial fit impression. Add the reviewer’s reservations about practical ANC and ANC-on battery life, and they are a cautious rather than automatic recommendation.
If a secure seal and noise reduction matter more than an open fit, compare the Buds4 Pro’s canal-fit design—but do not assume it will suit your ears without trying it. Check current local pricing and feature support for your phone before buying.
