Announced in South Korea on October 1, 2026, they sit around the ear instead of sealing the ear canal, so Samsung is positioning them for listening while remaining more aware of nearby sounds. Their Korean release is scheduled for October 27; international dates have not been announced in the available sources.
How Galaxy Buds On are worn—and what open-ear listening means
Rather than fitting inside the ear canal, Galaxy Buds On clip around the ear and leave the canal open. Samsung says it analyzed different ear shapes and used simulations to optimize the placement of the speaker and battery. Those are manufacturer descriptions of the design process, not independent findings about comfort or fit.

The format is intended for situations such as walking or running outdoors, when a listener may want music without shutting out nearby sounds. Open ears can make environmental sounds easier to hear than sealed in-ear earbuds, but they do not guarantee that a wearer will notice every hazard or make outdoor activity safe. Keep attention on traffic and surroundings, and follow local safety rules.

Open-ear trade-offs to keep in mind
Leaving the ear canal open changes the listening experience as well as the fit. Android Central identifies bass reproduction and sound leakage as design challenges for open-ear earbuds, and reports Samsung’s use of TwinBoost speakers and Audio Leakage Reduction to address them. No independent listening tests are established in the available coverage, so sound quality, bass performance, leak control and comfort remain unverified.
When comparing these with traditional in-ear Galaxy Buds or other clip-on earbuds, consider what matters most to you: environmental awareness or a more immersive, sealed fit; how securely and comfortably the clip sits; the balance of bass and leakage; and whether the reported battery life and software features suit your devices and habits.

South Korea launch, price and international availability
Samsung’s Korean announcement identifies October 27, 2026 as the release date in South Korea. Android Central reports a South Korean price of KRW 299,000. That price is regional and should not be treated as a US-dollar or other-market price.

Android Central says a broader rollout is planned, but the available sources do not give dates or regional pricing outside South Korea. They also do not establish a live Amazon listing. Check Samsung’s local product page or an authorized local retailer for current availability rather than assuming the earbuds are already sold in your country.

What the open-ear market figures do—and do not—show
Android Central attributes three category figures to market research firm Omdia: open-ear earbud sales grew 12% in the year to Q2 2026, the overall wireless-earbud market declined 2% over the same period, and clip-on designs represented 61% of open-ear sales. These are secondary-reported figures; the original Omdia publication is not established in the available sources, so they should not be treated as independently verified market data.
