Choose Buds On for a clip and an open canal
Buds On is the option to consider if you do not want an earbud sitting in the ear opening and specifically want an around-ear clip. Samsung says its design work used varied ear-shape data and simulations, a wider contact area, and adjusted band elasticity. Those are design choices, not proof that the clip will be comfortable or stable for every person.

The open canal may suit outdoor listening when you want some awareness of ambient sound. Open designs can still mask sounds, particularly at higher playback volumes, so they do not guarantee awareness or safety.
Choose Buds3 for an angled earbud and documented ANC
Buds3 is the more natural fit for someone comfortable with an earbud resting at the ear who wants Samsung’s listed ANC and Adaptive EQ/ANC. Samsung says the angled shape draws on 3D ear data and is intended to minimize ear-canal pressure, but neither that claim nor the design establishes how it will feel in an individual ear. ANC also does not mean the same passive isolation as a sealed in-ear model.

The two products emphasize different things. Buds On’s announced features include TwinBoost speakers, automatic volume adjustment, and Audio Leakage Reduction; Samsung says leakage reduction is intended to make public listening more discreet, but publishes no independent measurement in the announcement. Buds3’s feature set includes ANC and high-resolution codec support, but its highest-resolution playback is limited to specified compatible Galaxy devices and software. Galaxy AI functions can have additional requirements, so do not assume every feature works identically with any Bluetooth phone.
