Samsung has announced Galaxy Buds On, its first clip-on, open-ear model in the Galaxy Buds range. South Korea is the first confirmed market, with launch coverage reporting a 27 October 2026 release at KRW 299,000. No UK release date or UK price has been announced in the cited coverage, so British buyers will have to wait for confirmation rather than rely on a guessed conversion.
When will Samsung Galaxy Buds On be available in the UK?
There is no confirmed UK release date or UK retail price in the launch coverage published on 1 October 2026. Seoul Economic Daily reports that the buds will launch in South Korea on 27 October 2026 for KRW 299,000, and says wider-market availability will follow without giving a specific date or regional price. TechRadar also reports no specific international date. TechRadar’s launch report and Seoul Economic Daily’s report therefore establish a Korean launch, not a UK one.

What are Galaxy Buds On?
Unlike conventional in-ear earbuds, Galaxy Buds On clip around the outside of the ear without sealing or plugging the ear canal. That open-ear arrangement is designed to let nearby sounds remain audible while audio is playing, which may appeal to people who want more awareness of their surroundings during everyday listening or outdoor activity. It does not guarantee that a wearer will hear hazards or be safe in every situation.

Launch coverage says Samsung analyzed different ear shapes and adjusted the position of the speaker and battery. It also describes a wider contact area intended to distribute pressure. These are design aims, not independent findings about comfort, fit across different ears or security during exercise.
Reported features and what remains untested
Samsung’s reported feature set combines audio, call and hands-free controls. The launch reports list TwinBoost speakers, automatic volume adjustment and Audio Leakage Reduction. Seoul Economic Daily also reports three microphones and a bone-conduction vibration sensor intended to help identify the wearer’s voice during calls.

These reports do not establish how Galaxy Buds On sound, how effectively they limit leakage, how clearly calls come through, how comfortable they feel over long sessions, or how securely they stay in place. Nor do they establish real-world battery life or durability. Those questions require product testing rather than inference from the design or feature list.
Why clip-on earbuds are attracting attention
Omdia’s shipment estimates for Q2 2026 show open wireless stereo (OWS) shipments rising 12% year over year to 11.1 million units. Clip-on products accounted for 61% of those OWS shipments, while conventional true wireless stereo shipments declined 2%. Across the wider true wireless stereo category, shipments fell 0.7% year over year to 82.1 million units. Omdia’s 17 September 2026 release attributes the shift toward open-ear designs to changing demand and identifies comfort, audio and call quality, and fit for particular uses as competitive factors.

These are industry shipment estimates, not consumer survey results or retail sell-through figures. They show that clip-on OWS is a prominent and growing part of the market; they do not predict whether Galaxy Buds On will be successful or suit a particular listener.
