Choose Galaxy Buds Core if you value the newer Bluetooth 5.4 specification, the IP54 rating listed for Colombia, lighter listed weights, or longer rated playback with noise cancellation turned off. Choose Galaxy Buds FE if its slightly higher ANC-on playback rating matters more or you specifically prefer the FE model. Samsung’s published specifications do not establish a winner for sound quality, microphone performance, fit, or comfort, so those should not be inferred from the model names or battery figures.

The comparison below uses Samsung Colombia’s table, last updated October 7, 2025, plus Samsung India product-page dates and a Samsung US FE specification sheet. Samsung says options and availability can vary by country, model and software version. Confirm the exact regional SKU before buying.

Galaxy Buds FE vs. Galaxy Buds Core at a glance

These are both budget-oriented Samsung true-wireless earbuds with active noise cancellation (ANC) and ambient sound listed in Samsung’s Colombia comparison. The main specification differences are battery ratings under different ANC conditions, Bluetooth version, stated protection, listed capacities and weight.

Bluetooth 5.4 5.2 Core has the newer version in Samsung’s comparison.
Protection listed in Colombia IP54 Blank Do not assume the blank means no protection.
FE protection on Samsung US sheet Not stated IPX2 Regional documentation differs; check your local SKU.
Earbud weight 5.3 g each 5.6 g each Core is lighter on the published figures.
Charging-case weight 31.2 g 40 g Core’s listed case is lighter.
Launch date shown on Samsung India page June 27, 2025 October 4, 2023 India page dates are not universal release dates.

Every battery number in this table is an “up to” figure from Samsung, not a controlled head-to-head test. Samsung notes that actual playback varies with use and conditions.

Which model should you buy?

Buy Galaxy Buds Core for battery life with ANC off

If you normally leave ANC disabled, Core has the stronger published endurance figure: up to 35 hours total compared with up to 30 hours for FE. That is a five-hour difference in the rated maximum. It is useful for long commutes, travel or infrequent charging, but it does not guarantee five additional hours in your routine. Volume, codec behavior, calls, ambient mode and other conditions affect actual use.

Buy Galaxy Buds FE for the highest listed ANC-on maximum

With ANC enabled, Samsung lists up to 21 hours total for FE and up to 20 hours for Core. FE therefore leads by one rated hour in this specific condition. The margin is small and is not an independent laboratory result, so it should be a deciding factor only if you keep ANC on most of the time and the prices are otherwise close.

Buy Core for the listed IP54 rating and newer Bluetooth

Samsung’s Colombia comparison lists Core with Bluetooth 5.4 and an IP54 rating. FE is listed with Bluetooth 5.2, and its protection cell is blank in that table. The newer Bluetooth number does not by itself prove better range, sound or battery life in your phone-and-earbud combination, but it is the newer specification.

Protection is a regional documentation issue. A Samsung US FE specification sheet lists IPX2, while the Colombian comparison leaves the FE field blank. That is not evidence that FE has no protection, nor does it make the Colombian Core entry universal. Check the rating printed for the exact model sold in your country and follow Samsung’s care guidance. Neither listing should be treated as permission to submerge the earbuds.

Buy Core if low listed weight matters

Samsung lists each Core earbud at 5.3 grams and each FE earbud at 5.6 grams. It lists the Core case at 31.2 grams and the FE case at 40 grams. Core is therefore lighter on paper for both the earbuds and case. Weight alone cannot predict whether a particular ear shape finds one model more comfortable, and no independent fit test is established by these specifications.

Buy FE if you prefer that model or its design

A one-hour ANC-on advantage is not enough to outweigh personal preferences. If you have used FE successfully, prefer its controls or accessories, or find it at a better verified local price, FE can be the sensible choice. Samsung’s India page describes FE as having silicone wingtips and uses the wording “Designed for all-day comfort … for a pressure-free fit.” That is Samsung’s product-page description, not independent evidence that FE will fit every ear.

Battery life: how to read the ratings

ANC on

Core’s listed total is up to 20 hours; FE’s is up to 21 hours. “Total” generally refers to listening using the earbuds with the charging case contributing additional charges, while “up to” identifies a maximum under Samsung’s stated test conditions. The figures should be compared within Samsung’s own table, not treated as a promise for calls, high volume or mixed use.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

ANC off

Core’s up-to-35-hour rating is five hours above FE’s up-to-30-hour rating. Because the ranking reverses when ANC is enabled, there is no single battery-life winner for every listener. Decide which mode reflects your normal day, then treat the relevant number as a planning estimate rather than a guaranteed runtime.

Capacity is not the same as runtime

Samsung lists typical capacities of 65 mAh for each Core earbud and 500 mAh for its case. FE is listed at 60 mAh per earbud and 479 mAh for its case. Core’s capacities are larger, yet FE has the higher ANC-on total rating. That illustrates why cell capacity alone cannot establish efficiency or real-world endurance.

What to check before purchase

  • Confirm whether the retailer’s product is the same regional model as the Samsung page you consulted.
  • Check whether the quoted battery number includes the case and whether it assumes ANC on or off.
  • Expect shorter results during calls, at high volume or in demanding wireless conditions.
  • Do not compare a promotional retailer claim with Samsung’s maximum rating unless the test conditions are the same.

ANC and ambient sound: what the specifications do and do not tell you

Samsung lists both ANC and ambient sound for Core and FE. That establishes feature availability, not equal effectiveness. The published comparison does not provide attenuation measurements, a controlled noise test or a ranking of how natural ambient mode sounds.

For commuting and travel

Either model has the listed ANC feature, so the decision can be based on the battery mode you use, local price and the exact regional SKU. Do not assume Core’s newer Bluetooth version automatically cancels more noise.

For conversations and awareness

Both models list ambient sound. Use it when you need to hear surroundings, but verify the behavior and controls on your phone after pairing. The specification table does not establish whether one model sounds more natural or switches modes faster.

Bluetooth 5.4 versus 5.2

Core uses Bluetooth 5.4 in Samsung’s Colombia comparison; FE uses Bluetooth 5.2. Core therefore has the newer listed Bluetooth generation. That is a specification advantage, not a complete connectivity verdict. Real behavior also depends on the phone, operating-system support, interference, firmware and the Bluetooth features implemented by both devices.

If your phone supports both models, do not buy Core solely expecting a guaranteed increase in range or audio quality. If you are choosing between otherwise similar offers and value newer published connectivity hardware, Core is the straightforward pick.

Water and dust protection: avoid the regional trap

Core is shown as IP54 in Samsung Colombia’s table. The same table leaves FE’s protection field blank, while Samsung’s US FE specification sheet lists IPX2. The discrepancy means a general statement such as “FE has no rating” would be inaccurate.

IP codes describe specific test protection, not waterproofing for swimming or showering. Before exposing either model to sweat, rain or moisture, read the documentation supplied with your regional SKU. If the retailer listing and the manufacturer page disagree, use the exact model number and local Samsung documentation to resolve the difference.

Weight, capacity and physical trade-offs

Component Core FE Published difference
One earbud 5.3 g 5.6 g FE is 0.3 g heavier per earbud.
Charging case 31.2 g 40 g FE case is 8.8 g heavier.
Typical earbud capacity 65 mAh 60 mAh Core is listed higher.
Typical case capacity 500 mAh 479 mAh Core is listed higher.

These are manufacturer specifications, not comfort measurements. Ear-tip size, wing or fin shape, ear anatomy and how securely you insert the buds can matter more than fractions of a gram. Samsung’s published pages contain no independent listening, call-quality, fit or comfort test, so neither model can be declared the ergonomic winner from these numbers.

Sound, microphones and call quality

Samsung’s Colombia page lists a one-way speaker and six microphones for both Core and FE. That tells you the hardware count and speaker arrangement shown on the page, but it does not establish that they sound identical or that one delivers clearer calls.

No controlled frequency-response, loudness, wind-noise, speech-isolation or listening comparison is provided. If sound signature, voice calls or secure fit is your primary criterion, arrange a returnable purchase where possible, check local user reviews for your phone and ear shape, and avoid treating Bluetooth version, weight or battery capacity as a proxy for audio quality.

Launch dates and availability

Samsung India’s product pages show FE’s launch date as October 4, 2023 and Core’s as June 27, 2025. Those are India-specific page dates, not universal worldwide release dates. Samsung’s Colombia comparison applies to products purchased in Colombia and warns that options and availability vary by region, model, software version and country.

Core’s newer India page date does not guarantee that every market received it later, and FE’s older date does not mean every retailer is selling an outdated hardware revision. Match the model number, warranty region and included accessories before ordering.

Price and regional SKU checks

The available Samsung pages do not establish a current comparative price or retailer stock position. Earbud pricing changes by country, promotions, storage-bundle offers and seller. Do not choose a model from an old price snapshot or assume that an imported listing has the same protection rating, warranty or firmware support as a local unit.

  1. Open the retailer’s full product title and model number.
  2. Compare that model number with the Samsung page for your country.
  3. Verify the stated protection rating rather than copying the rating from another region.
  4. Check warranty coverage, return terms and whether the seller is authorized in your market.
  5. Compare the final delivered price, not only the headline discount.

A practical decision framework

Choose Core when most of these statements are true

  • You usually disable ANC and want the higher listed total maximum of up to 35 hours.
  • You want the newer Bluetooth 5.4 specification.
  • The local Samsung documentation lists the IP54 rating and that protection matters to you.
  • You prefer the lighter published earbud and case weights.
  • The verified local price is competitive with FE.

Choose FE when most of these statements are true

  • You keep ANC enabled and value its one-hour-higher listed maximum of up to 21 hours.
  • You already know the FE shape fits you or you prefer its design.
  • Your local documentation confirms the protection rating you require.
  • You find a materially better current price from a trustworthy seller.
  • You do not need Core’s newer Bluetooth specification or lighter listed case.

Pause before buying either model when these are your priorities

  • You need a proven winner for sound quality, calls or fit; these sources do not provide that evidence.
  • You need a universal water-resistance claim; regional documentation differs.
  • You are comparing imported and local listings without checking model numbers and warranty.

What the specifications cannot answer

A specification sheet cannot tell you how well ANC handles a particular aircraft cabin, how securely a wingtip holds during exercise, whether a microphone suppresses wind, or whether the earbuds’ sound suits your music. Those questions require controlled testing or personal use. Samsung’s pages provide no head-to-head listening or fit study for Core and FE.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

That limitation matters because the numerical differences are modest in some areas. FE’s one-hour ANC-on advantage and Core’s five-hour ANC-off advantage describe different modes. Core’s lower listed weight does not prove greater comfort. Bluetooth 5.4 does not prove better audio. Treat the numbers as selection filters, then use a return policy or hands-on trial for subjective priorities.

Bottom line: Core for the broader specification edge, FE for a specific preference

For most buyers making a specification-based choice, Galaxy Buds Core has the broader paper advantage: Bluetooth 5.4, an IP54 entry in Samsung Colombia’s table, lighter listed weights and up to 35 hours with ANC off. Galaxy Buds FE remains reasonable if you prioritize its up-to-21-hour ANC-on rating, already prefer its fit or find a better verified local deal. Neither should be declared superior for sound, calls or comfort from these pages alone, and every protection and availability claim should be checked against the SKU sold in your country.
