Both a Samsung Galaxy Book and a Chromebook can connect to a Samsung Galaxy phone. Choose a Chromebook if you want ChromeOS and Google-account continuity alongside Samsung’s documented Phone Hub, Quick Share, and Samsung Notes options. Choose a Galaxy Book if you want Windows with Samsung’s Phone Link and connected-device features, including call continuity on eligible devices. The better fit depends on the task and the exact phone, laptop, software, and region—not just the brand names.
What can you do with your Samsung phone on each laptop?
| Task | Chromebook | Galaxy Book |
|---|---|---|
| Open or interact with phone apps | Samsung says Phone Hub on the Galaxy Chromebook Plus can stream supported phone apps from notifications or the Recent Apps list. This does not mean every phone app can be mirrored or used this way. Samsung Chromebook Plus instructions | Phone Link connects a Samsung Galaxy phone to a Windows PC, but the phone content and app features available depend on the devices and feature. Samsung Connected Experience |
| Share files | Samsung documents Quick Share between a Galaxy phone and Chromebook in its Chromebook setup guide. Samsung Chromebook Plus instructions | Quick Share is available for supported Galaxy phones and Galaxy Books or other supported Windows PCs, subject to software and wireless requirements. Samsung Quick Share requirements |
| Sync Samsung Notes | Samsung’s guide describes syncing Samsung Notes through Samsung Cloud and a Samsung account. Samsung Chromebook Plus instructions | Samsung lists Notes among its cross-device connected features; account, network, and device support apply. Samsung Connected Experience |
| Notifications and messages | Phone Hub exposes supported phone features, and Samsung describes launching supported phone apps from notifications. The precise controls depend on the phone and Chromebook. Samsung Chromebook Plus instructions | Phone Link connects a Galaxy phone and Windows PC. Setup and available features depend on device and account eligibility. Samsung Connected Experience |
| Calls between devices | The Samsung Chromebook guide does not establish a comparable call-continuity feature. That is not proof that calls are impossible by every other method. | Samsung documents Call on other devices for eligible Samsung devices paired to the same account and meeting software requirements. Samsung Connected Experience |
| Browser and Google account continuity | Samsung’s setup guide describes signing in with a Google account and syncing Chrome data. Samsung Chromebook Plus instructions | The reviewed Samsung pages describe Windows and Samsung integrations, not an equivalent Chrome sync workflow. Windows can still use Google services, but the cited sources do not establish a like-for-like ChromeOS setup. |
When a Chromebook makes more sense
You want Phone Hub and supported phone-app streaming
Samsung’s instructions for the Galaxy Chromebook Plus describe connecting an Android phone, enabling Phone Hub, and streaming supported phone apps through notifications or Recent Apps. If this is the phone interaction you care about most, check that the specific Chromebook you are considering supports the needed Phone Hub functions; the guide is for the Galaxy Chromebook Plus, not a guarantee for every Chromebook.

You use Chrome and Google services every day
The Chromebook setup flow uses a Google account and can sync Chrome data. That makes it a natural fit if you want browser continuity and Android app access in the ChromeOS environment, in addition to the Samsung features described above.

When a Galaxy Book makes more sense
You want Windows with Samsung phone integration
A Galaxy Book combines Windows workflows with Samsung’s documented Phone Link and connected-device features. Phone Link requires account setup, and the feature set depends on the phone and PC. Samsung’s connected-experience page lists eligible software and account conditions, with availability varying by device, region, and rollout: Samsung Connected Experience.
You may use call continuity
Samsung’s Call on other devices feature can be a deciding convenience if both your phone and Galaxy Book qualify and are paired to the same Samsung account. Check eligibility for the exact devices rather than assuming the feature comes with every Galaxy phone and Book.

You need a particular Windows desktop application
If work or study depends on a Windows application, that requirement may matter more than phone integration. The Samsung feature pages do not compare specific desktop software, so check the application’s requirements and the laptop model separately.
Check compatibility before choosing
- Match the feature to the device: Phone Hub app streaming is described for Galaxy Chromebook Plus; do not assume every Chromebook supports the same workflow.
- Check Quick Share requirements: Samsung’s US page lists Android 10 and One UI 2.1 or later for Galaxy phones and tablets, plus supported PC requirements, including Windows and Intel Bluetooth/Wi-Fi driver requirements. Hardware restrictions can apply, so confirm the current requirements for your region and exact laptop at Samsung Quick Share.
- Check accounts and sync: Chromebook setup uses a Google account for Chrome data; Samsung Notes sync uses Samsung Cloud and a Samsung account. Phone Link and call continuity have their own account and pairing requirements.
- Check software, market, and rollout: Features can vary with phone and laptop model, operating-system and app versions, country, and connectivity. Samsung’s connected-device features are not guaranteed to be available identically everywhere.
- Do not rely on legacy Galaxy Book examples as a current model list: Samsung’s Ireland support article mentions older Book Flex and Book Ion products when explaining DeX over USB and Phone Link. Treat it as background, not a recommendation of current laptop models: Samsung Ireland connection guide.
How to decide for your own setup
- Name the main task. Decide whether you care most about phone-app access, notifications and messages, file sharing, Samsung Notes, calls, or Chrome and Google account continuity.
- Check the exact laptop and phone. Compare their model names and software versions with Samsung’s relevant support pages, especially for Phone Hub, Quick Share, Phone Link, and Call on other devices.
- Confirm accounts and connectivity. Make sure you can use the required Google or Samsung account and that the devices meet wireless, software, and pairing requirements.
- Weigh non-phone needs separately. Compare required desktop apps and hardware on their own merits; phone integration alone cannot establish which laptop is better for your work.
Samsung’s official pages describe feature behavior and requirements, not a measured head-to-head comparison. They do not establish which platform is faster, more reliable, has better battery life, or offers better value.
