Samsung Galaxy A57 Stuck in a Boot Loop: Troubleshooting Steps That Protect Your Data

If your Samsung Galaxy A57 repeatedly restarts, freezes on the Samsung logo, or never reaches the lock screen, start with reversible checks: inspect for damage or moisture, disconnect questionable accessories, charge it with a Samsung-certified charger and cable, and hold the Side key and Volume Down together for more than seven seconds. If it stays on, update its software and test Safe mode before considering any reset. A factory data reset erases the phone and should be the final practical step, after backup and non-destructive recovery attempts.

A boot loop can be caused by an exhausted battery, an incompatible accessory, a recently installed app, corrupted software, or hardware damage. The sequence below is designed to narrow those possibilities while preserving your photos, messages, authenticator data, and other personal content for as long as possible.

What “stuck in a boot loop” means on a Galaxy A57

A boot loop is a repeated restart cycle in which the phone begins to power on, shows the Samsung logo or startup animation, then reboots instead of reaching the lock screen. Some failures look slightly different: the screen may remain on the Samsung logo, the phone may go black and start again, or it may restart only when a charger is connected. In each case, the useful dividing line is whether the A57 can complete startup and remain usable.

The wording people use—“Samsung Galaxy A57 stuck in a boot loop,” “stuck on the Samsung logo,” “Galaxy A57 won’t start,” “force restart Galaxy A57,” and “Galaxy A57 Safe mode”—describes the same decision problem: find out whether power, an accessory, a third-party app, software, or hardware is preventing a normal start, without wiping data prematurely.

  • 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.

There is no reliable model-specific boot-loop incidence or failure-rate figure to use for the A57. Treat the symptom, not an assumed percentage or a single presumed cause.

Do these checks before pressing buttons repeatedly

Inspect for impact, bent contacts, or liquid

Remove the case and look over the display, frame, rear panel, and USB-C port. Cracks, a bent connector, green or white corrosion, unusual heat, or a phone that was recently dropped are important clues. If the A57 may have been exposed to water or another liquid, do not connect a charger or accessory while it is wet. Let it dry completely and arrange professional inspection when impact or liquid damage is suspected. Repeatedly powering a wet device can turn a recoverable charging problem into board damage.

Disconnect accessories and remove pressure from the controls

Unplug USB devices, headphones, hubs, and adapters. Temporarily remove non-genuine cases, screen protectors, or other accessories that could press the Side or Volume keys or interfere with the touchscreen. Samsung notes that non-genuine accessories can affect device functionality and touch behavior. Test the phone in its bare configuration before blaming the operating system.

Do not confuse a flat battery with a software failure

Connect a Samsung-certified charger and cable directly to a known-good wall outlet. If the battery is fully drained, the A57 may show no charging icon immediately; leave it connected and charging rather than assuming that silence means the charger failed. If possible, repeat the test with a known-good spare charger and cable. A change in behavior between two compatible charging setups is useful evidence about the power path, not a reason to reset the phone.

Use the first reversible recovery: a force restart

With accessories disconnected and the phone connected to a safe charger if the battery may be empty, press and hold the Side key and Volume Down together for more than seven seconds. Keep both buttons held until the device restarts. This is a forced reboot of a frozen phone; it is not a factory reset and is intended to leave user data intact.

  1. Hold the Side key and Volume Down at the same time.
  2. Continue for longer than seven seconds, even if the screen briefly changes.
  3. Release the buttons when the A57 restarts.
  4. Leave it alone long enough to attempt a complete startup rather than immediately repeating the key combination.

If the phone reaches the lock screen, unlock it and back up important data before doing anything more invasive. If it returns to the logo or restarts again, proceed to software and Safe mode checks rather than performing repeated forced restarts indefinitely.

If the A57 stays on: update before investigating apps

A phone that can remain at the home screen for several minutes gives you a chance to install a pending system fix. Menu names vary by software version, but the normal route is Settings > Software update > Download and install. Keep the phone on a stable Wi-Fi connection and connected to reliable power while the update is downloaded and installed. Do not interrupt an installation by removing the cable or holding the keys unless the screen is genuinely frozen.

The Samsung firmware record accessed on October 16, 2026 lists the A57 5G model SM-A576B with build A576BXXU6BZIE, Android 17, One UI 9, a release date of October 12, 2026, and a security patch level of September 5, 2026. Those details apply to that model and record, not automatically to every regional A57. Before following model-specific advice, open Settings > About phone when possible and verify the model number and installed software. Firmware releases, labels, and service options can differ by country and can change over time.

If an update completes and the phone remains stable, use it normally for a while before removing anything. If the loop returns immediately after a particular app was installed or updated, Safe mode is the next diagnostic step.

Use Safe mode to separate app failures from system or hardware faults

Safe mode starts Android with only core applications. It does not erase personal data. Its value is diagnostic: if the looping stops in Safe mode, a third-party app is a plausible trigger; if the looping continues with third-party apps disabled, an app is less likely and Samsung says hardware becomes more likely.

Enter Safe mode when the phone can show the power menu

  1. Open the power menu from the phone’s on-screen controls.
  2. Touch and hold Power off until the Safe mode option appears.
  3. Confirm Safe mode and allow the A57 to restart.
  4. Look for the Safe mode label on the screen and test whether the phone remains running.

Exact labels can vary with One UI versions. If the phone cannot stay on long enough to display the power menu, do not keep trying this route; use the force-restart and charging checks already described, then seek service if the loop persists.

If Safe mode stops the loop

Do not immediately remove a large group of apps. Think about what changed shortly before the problem began: a newly installed app, an update, a keyboard, launcher, security utility, accessibility tool, or app that runs at startup. Uninstall the most recently added or changed app first, restart normally, and test. If the problem remains, repeat with the next likely app. Removing one item at a time preserves a useful cause-and-effect trail and avoids deleting unrelated data.

Some apps store information only locally. Before uninstalling an app, use its own export or backup feature if the phone is stable enough to do so. Once the suspected app is removed, leave the phone in normal mode long enough to confirm that the boot loop does not return.

If Safe mode does not stop the loop

A loop that continues while only core applications are active is not explained well by an ordinary third-party app. Combined with repeated crashes during charging, a damaged port, impact, or liquid exposure, it is a reason to stop experimenting and arrange Samsung support or an authorized service-center inspection. Repeating a factory reset will not repair a damaged connector, battery, or mainboard.

  • A software update repeatedly fails or the phone shows a new error after installation.

Tell the technician exactly what happened before the loop started, which charger and cable were used, whether the device was dropped or wet, and whether Safe mode changed the behavior. Those details are more useful than simply reporting that it “won’t start.”

Factory reset: the last resort and what it removes

A factory data reset removes personal data and content from the phone. Samsung’s guidance is explicit: “Before performing a factory reset, be sure to back up your personal data, so you don’t lose it all.” Treat the reset as destructive even when the phone appears to be suffering from software corruption.

Back up while the phone is still usable

  • Copy photos, videos, documents, and downloads to a computer or another secure destination.
  • Confirm that contacts, calendars, messages, and app-specific records have synchronized or been exported.
  • Save recovery codes for authentication apps and verify that you can sign in again after the reset.
  • Record the model number and any information a service representative may need.

Do not assume that an app’s cloud account contains every locally stored file. Check the actual backup or export before erasing the device.

Prepare removable storage and account access

If an encrypted microSD card is installed, decrypt it before resetting so its contents remain accessible afterward. Have the Samsung account credentials and any other account passwords available. After a reset, Android’s theft-protection checks can require the previously used account, and the setup process needs a network connection.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Start the reset only when the trade-off is acceptable

When the phone is stable enough to use Settings, the path is generally Settings > General management > Reset > Factory data reset; labels can differ by One UI release. Read the list of accounts and content that will be removed, connect to reliable power, and confirm only after the backup is verified. The A57 will restart and must be configured from the beginning.

If the phone cannot remain on long enough to complete a reset, do not improvise with repeated key combinations or unofficial firmware. Ask Samsung support for the correct recovery procedure for the verified model and region. A reset performed without a backup cannot recover erased personal files.

Common mistakes that make a boot loop harder to diagnose

Resetting before testing Safe mode

A reset erases evidence about which app or change caused the problem. Safe mode is reversible and can identify an app-related trigger without deleting the rest of the phone.

Charging a wet phone

Even if the display is dark, a liquid-damaged port can short or corrode when power is applied. Dry the device fully and obtain professional inspection when exposure is suspected.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Using an unverified cable or adapter as the only test

A questionable accessory can create intermittent charging and restart symptoms. Use a Samsung-certified charger and cable, then repeat with a known-good compatible set if necessary.

Removing many apps at once

Bulk uninstalling makes it impossible to identify the trigger and may remove data you still need. Change one likely variable, restart, and test.

Assuming the newest firmware applies everywhere

The SM-A576B firmware details listed above are tied to one model record and date. Check your own model and software because regional releases and menu names differ.

A data-preserving decision path

  1. Inspect the phone and port; if it is wet or visibly damaged, stop and arrange inspection.
  2. Remove non-genuine cases and accessories, then connect a Samsung-certified charger and cable.
  3. Hold Side key plus Volume Down for more than seven seconds to force-restart without erasing data.
  4. If it reaches the interface, back up important content and install any available software update.
  5. Start Safe mode and remove recently added apps one at a time only if Safe mode stops the looping.
  6. If the phone loops in Safe mode, crashes while charging, or shows physical damage, use Samsung support or an authorized service center.
  7. Perform a factory data reset only after backup, microSD decryption, account preparation, and all practical non-destructive steps.
