Its value is less certain: reviewers found it competent, but questioned its launch-price appeal and pointed to camera-zoom and performance trade-offs. Whether it is worth buying depends on its current price where you live and whether Samsung’s software and support matter more to you than zoom or speed.
What is the Galaxy A57 5G, and when did it launch?
Samsung announced the Galaxy A57 5G on March 25, 2026. Samsung’s U.S. announcement said availability there began April 9, 2026, with a starting launch price of $549.99. That figure is a U.S. launch price, not a verified current offer; prices and configurations differ by market and retailer. Samsung Newsroom U.S.

The A57 sits in Samsung’s Galaxy A series. Its appeal is a familiar combination of a large display, mainstream cameras, water-and-dust-resistance rating and extended support, rather than a standout feature that clearly leads its class.
What do you get for the price?
Samsung’s U.S. announcement lists a 6.7-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED+ display with refresh rates up to 120Hz, a 50MP main camera with optical image stabilization (OIS), a 12MP ultrawide, a 5MP macro camera and a 12MP front camera. The phone measures 161.5 × 76.8 × 6.9 mm and weighs 179 g, according to the same announcement. Samsung Newsroom U.S.

Display and design
The large AMOLED panel and up-to-120Hz refresh rate are among the A57’s clearest strengths on paper. TechRadar praised the screen and slim, light design in its April 23, 2026 review. A high refresh rate can make scrolling and compatible animations look smoother, though it does not by itself establish how the phone performs in demanding games. TechRadar

Durability and software
Samsung specifies an IP68 rating for water and dust resistance. This is a rated resistance specification, not a claim that the phone is waterproof. Samsung also promises up to six OS upgrades and six years of security updates. These are manufacturer commitments; future update delivery has not been independently verified in advance. The U.S. announcement lists Android 16 with One UI 8.5. Samsung Global Newsroom Samsung UK
How good are the cameras?
The rear setup covers standard, ultrawide and close-up photography, but there is no dedicated telephoto camera. Samsung lists OIS on the 50MP main camera and describes features including Nightography; these are manufacturer specifications and feature descriptions, not independent image-quality findings. In its April 18, 2026 camera comparison, Tom’s Guide found crisp detail from the main camera, while noting brighter, sometimes washed-out color. It described ultrawide results as mixed and said the selfie camera could overexpose. In that comparison, the missing telephoto lens limited zoom against the Nothing Phone 4a Pro. Those observations reflect Tom’s Guide’s sample and comparison, not a guarantee for every scene or unit. Tom’s Guide
How long does the battery last, and how fast does it charge?
Samsung UK specifies a typical 5,000mAh battery and advertises charging to up to 60% in 30 minutes with compatible Super Fast Charging 2.0 equipment. That is Samsung’s stated charging figure, not a result independently measured for every charger or usage condition. Samsung UK

TechRadar reported all-day battery life, roughly a day and a half under average use, and about 90 minutes for a full charge at 45W with a compatible charger. These are that reviewer’s observations; screen brightness, signal, apps and other usage can change real-world results. TechRadar
Does it perform well enough?
Independent reviews describe the A57 as capable for everyday use but less compelling on performance than some alternatives. Tom’s Guide cited performance as a weakness in its overall assessment, while TechRadar’s broader verdict was that the phone works well but its price makes competing options harder to dismiss. Neither review establishes a universal performance ranking, so buyers focused on gaming or sustained heavy workloads should compare current, region-specific reviews and benchmarks for the exact models they are considering.

Is the Galaxy A57 5G worth buying?
It can make sense if you want Samsung’s One UI experience, a large AMOLED display, a slim phone, an IP68 rating and a substantial stated update commitment. The case is weaker if the A57 is selling close to its U.S. launch price and your priorities are maximum speed, fast charging or flexible zoom photography. TechRadar and Tom’s Guide both questioned its value at launch pricing, though their conclusions reflect their review context and market. TechRadar Tom’s Guide
Compare these factors before you buy
- Local price and memory: Check the price and storage/RAM configuration actually sold in your country; the U.S. launch price and UK configurations are not universal.
- Camera range: Consider whether a dedicated telephoto camera matters more to you than the A57’s main, ultrawide and macro arrangement.
- Performance and charging: Compare current evidence for the games and workloads you use, and the charging speed offered by competing phones at the same local price.
- Support and ecosystem: Weigh Samsung’s stated update commitment and interface against the software policies and services of other phones you are considering.
The A57’s strongest argument is balance, not best-in-class performance in every area. A price drop could make that balance more attractive; at a premium over similarly positioned alternatives, its camera and performance trade-offs deserve closer scrutiny.
