The TECNO POVA 8 Pro 5G lists a larger, higher-resolution 144 Hz screen and a larger battery; Samsung’s Galaxy A56 5G has a three-camera rear setup and a stated six-year software-support commitment. There is no reliable price gap to quote: Samsung announced a US starting price of $499.99 in 2025, while TECNO’s official pages reviewed do not show a price. The better choice depends on your priorities, local pricing and the exact variant available where you live.

Which phone has the better display?
On the published specifications, the POVA 8 Pro has the larger panel, higher resolution and faster maximum refresh rate: 6.78 inches, 2644 × 1208 and up to 144 Hz, versus the A56’s 6.7-inch, 1080 × 2340 display at up to 120 Hz. That gives TECNO the stronger paper specification for screen size, detail and refresh rate. It does not establish which screen looks better in person: the figures do not provide a direct comparison of calibration, viewing conditions or measured brightness.

Which has the better battery?
TECNO lists a 6,500 mAh battery, compared with Samsung’s 5,000 mAh typical capacity; both support 45 W charging. The larger listed capacity favors the POVA on paper, but it is not a runtime result. Screen settings, apps, signal strength, software and usage affect how long either phone lasts, and no comparable endurance test is available here.
#1 Best Overall
- 25W Samsung Super Fast Charger Included, 6.7" FHD+ Super AMOLED, 120Hz, HDR10+, 1080x2340px, Fingerprint (under display, optical), IP67 dust and water resistance
- 256GB, 8GB, No SD Card Slot, Exynos 1580 (4nm), Octa-core, Xclipse 540 GPU, Android 15, up to 6 major Android upgrades, One UI 7
- Rear Camera: 50MP, f/1.8 + 12MP, f/2.2 + 5MP, f/2.4, Front Camera: 12MP, f/2.2, 5000mAh Battery, Bluetooth 5.3
How do the cameras compare?
The Galaxy A56 has three listed rear modules: a 50 MP main camera with optical image stabilization (OIS), a 12 MP ultrawide and a 5 MP macro. TECNO lists a 50 MP OIS main camera and an 8 MP ultrawide; its product page identifies the main sensor as Sony LYTIA 700C. Samsung therefore offers a dedicated macro module and a higher-resolution ultrawide on the specification sheet. That is a difference in camera configuration, not proof of better photos: megapixel counts and module count do not establish image quality. The cited front-camera figures are 12 MP for Samsung and 13 MP for TECNO, with no comparative image-quality test to distinguish them.
Software support: the clearest documented difference
Samsung states that the Galaxy A56 will receive six generations of Android OS and One UI upgrades and six years of security updates. TECNO’s cited Saudi specifications identify the POVA 8 Pro as running HiOS 16 based on Android 16, but do not state how long it will receive OS or security updates. This means Samsung has the more clearly documented support duration in the information cited; it does not establish that TECNO provides no updates.

Price difference: what can be established?
Samsung announced US availability for the Galaxy A56 starting at $499.99 in 2025, for 128 GB and 256 GB variants. This is historical US launch-price context, not a current quote or a global price. TECNO’s official product and Saudi specification pages reviewed list product details and storage options but no price. As a result, the current price difference—and how much the POVA 8 Pro costs—cannot be calculated from these figures.
For a useful comparison, check live prices in your country for the same storage tier, and account for tax, seller authorization, network compatibility and warranty. Avoid comparing a discounted listing for one model with a different storage configuration or warranty for the other.

Durability, size and memory details to check
Water and dust resistance
Samsung lists an IP67 rating, while TECNO promotes IP69K, IP69, IP68 and IP66 ratings. These are manufacturer-published ingress-protection claims; the ratings are not a substitute for checking the terms of the local warranty. Do not assume that damage involving water is covered.
Weight and dimensions
The listed dimensions are close, but TECNO’s figure is 189 g versus 198 g for Samsung, making the POVA about 9 g lighter on paper. Check the specifications for the local variant before buying.
Storage and RAM
The cited Samsung announcement identifies 128 GB and 256 GB storage options; the cited UK specification is for a 256 GB model. TECNO lists 256 GB and 512 GB options. Its RAM figures include extended or virtual memory, which uses storage and is not equivalent to installed physical RAM. Compare the physical RAM and storage capacity of the exact variants being sold.

Which phone should you choose?
- Consider the POVA 8 Pro if its listed 144 Hz, higher-resolution display or 6,500 mAh battery is your priority, and its local price, warranty and network compatibility work for you.
- Consider the Galaxy A56 if you value a listed ultrawide with more megapixels, a dedicated macro camera, or Samsung’s stated six-year software-support commitment.
- Get independent side-by-side testing if gaming speed, camera results or real-world battery life will decide the purchase. The published specifications alone do not settle those questions.
