The standard Galaxy S26 is the smaller flagship option, with a higher-tier processor and a dedicated 3x telephoto camera. Samsung announced the S26 in the US at $899.99 for 256GB, but the available information does not establish a comparable current A56 price, so there is no reliable price gap to quote without checking same-market offers.

How different are the displays and sizes?
The A56’s 6.7-inch display is larger by diagonal than the S26’s 6.3-inch screen. That makes the A56 the more natural choice if you value a bigger viewing area for reading, video or onscreen controls; the S26 is the smaller-phone choice. Both are listed with FHD+ resolution and support refresh rates up to 120Hz, though Samsung describes the S26 rate as adaptive from 1Hz to 120Hz.
The cited UK A56 specification page lists dimensions of 162.2 × 77.5 × 7.4mm and a weight of 198g. Those are UK model figures, not a guarantee for every regional configuration; check the locally sold model and carrier compatibility before buying.

Which phone has the more useful cameras?
The main and ultrawide camera resolutions are similar on paper: both announcements list a 50MP main or wide camera and a 12MP ultrawide. The key difference is the third rear camera. The S26 has a dedicated 10MP 3x telephoto camera for optical zoom, while the A56 has a 5MP macro camera for close-up subjects. Choose based on the kind of shots you take rather than camera count or megapixels alone; the cited specifications do not establish which phone produces better overall photos.
Both phones have a 12MP front camera. Samsung’s A56 launch announcement specifically highlights 10-bit HDR front recording and Low Noise Mode. It also describes A56 features including Best Face, Object Eraser, custom Filters and Circle to Search; Best Face selects expressions for up to five people from a motion photo. These are vendor-described capabilities, not independent findings. Samsung’s S26 announcement describes Galaxy AI features, but the cited information does not measure feature quality or AI performance between the phones.

Battery capacity and charging: what the numbers tell you
Samsung lists a typical 5,000mAh battery and up to 45W charging for the A56, compared with a typical 4,300mAh battery and up to 25W charging for the S26. The A56 therefore has the higher stated capacity and charging wattage. Those specifications alone do not establish real-world battery life or charge times: usage, network conditions, settings and charger compatibility affect results.

The A56 uses Samsung’s Exynos 1580, while Samsung’s US S26 announcement lists Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy. The S26 is the flagship processor-tier choice, but the available information includes no independent benchmarks, so it cannot establish a measured speed difference for particular apps or workloads.

Samsung says the A56 receives up to six generations of Android OS and One UI upgrades and six years of security updates. Its launch announcement identifies Android 15 and One UI 7 at launch. The cited S26 announcement identifies Android 16 and One UI 8.5 at launch but does not establish a directly comparable support duration; these sources therefore do not support naming a support winner.
Durability and regional details
Samsung lists IP67 for the A56 and IP68 for the S26. For the A56, Samsung specifies lab submersion in up to 1 metre of freshwater for up to 30 minutes and cautions that resistance may diminish with wear. The ratings use different test depths; neither should be treated as a promise that a phone is suitable for beach or pool use.

What is the price difference between the Galaxy A56 and S26?
Samsung’s US launch announcement listed the S26 at $899.99 starting for 256GB, with a 512GB option, and said general availability began March 11, 2026. That is historical US launch pricing, not a current offer. The cited sources do not establish an A56 price that can be fairly compared with it, so a numeric gap would be misleading.

Quick Recap
Which one should you choose?
- Choose the Galaxy A56 5G if a larger 6.7-inch display, higher stated battery capacity, up to 45W charging, a macro camera or Samsung’s stated A56 software-support commitment matters most.
- Choose the Galaxy S26 if you prefer a smaller 6.3-inch phone, want the flagship processor tier or expect to use a dedicated 3x telephoto camera.
- Compare live local prices before deciding if value is the deciding factor; the cited launch price for the S26 cannot establish a current price gap against the A56.
