Turn off the Galaxy A52 with its buttons
- Find the Side button and Volume Down button on the phone.
- Press and hold both buttons at the same time for a few seconds, until the power menu appears. Samsung gives this button combination for opening the power menu on Galaxy devices: Samsung’s power-on and power-off instructions.
- Tap Power off.
- Tap Power off again to confirm. The phone will shut down.
Why holding the Side button alone may not work
The Side button can be configured for other functions, and on many Galaxy phones holding it may invoke Bixby rather than show the power menu. Use Side plus Volume Down to open the menu. Button behavior can depend on the phone’s settings; see Samsung’s Side Key customization guide.

Use Quick Settings instead
If you prefer not to use the buttons and the screen responds, swipe down from the top edge with two fingers to open Quick Settings. Tap the power icon near Settings, choose Power off, then confirm by tapping Power off again. Samsung documents this as an alternate route to the power menu: Power your Galaxy phone or tablet on or off.
Which shutdown method should you use?

Samsung also says configured Bixby Voice can turn off a phone, but it requires setup. For most readers, the button combination is the simplest route; Quick Settings is the straightforward alternative when you can use the screen.

Allow for small software and layout differences
Galaxy A52 5G manuals and support materials vary by region and software generation. Samsung’s Singapore product page lists Android 13 and Android 14 user manuals, while its US T-Mobile support page lists an August 2024 manual. Those listings do not establish which software or carrier configuration is installed on your particular phone, so menu placement or wording may differ slightly: Samsung Singapore Galaxy A52 5G product and manuals page and Samsung US Galaxy A52 5G T-Mobile support page.
