Restricting an app can reduce its ability to refresh while you are not using it, but it may also delay notifications, location updates, wearable connections, or scheduled synchronization. Keep background access for apps whose timely operation you rely on; apply restrictions to nonessential apps rather than disabling functions across the phone.

Adjust the screen to suit your comfort
Display brightness, refresh behavior, and screen timeout are possible places to look if screen use is a major part of your battery consumption. A lower brightness, a less fluid display setting, or a shorter timeout can be a comfort-versus-runtime trade-off. Availability and exact labels should be checked on the installed software build; no single change guarantees a specific battery-life gain.
How do I stop apps running in the background?
Use the battery controls in Settings to inspect whether the installed software offers per-app background limits. Search Settings for “battery” or the app’s name if the menu is not obvious, and read the on-device description before applying a restriction. The exact One UI 8.5 path and labels are not established in Samsung’s accessible product listing, so avoid relying on instructions for another Galaxy model or software version.

- Usually keep timely access: messaging and calling apps, navigation or location-tracking apps during use, wearable companion apps, and apps that perform sync you depend on.
- Consider limiting: apps that rarely need to alert you or update until you open them.
- Check the result: If alerts, tracking, or sync stop arriving when expected, remove the restriction or reopen the app’s background settings.
How do I check app permissions on a Samsung Galaxy A37?
Review permissions app by app, starting with location, camera, microphone, contacts, and notifications. - Choose the narrowest available access that still supports that feature. For location, for example, use a more limited option when continuous or precise access is unnecessary and the phone offers that choice.
- Revisit the permission if an app feature stops working; restore only the access needed to use it.
Notifications are also worth reviewing: allow interruptions from apps you rely on and reduce unwanted alerts from others. This is primarily a focus and convenience choice rather than a guaranteed battery fix.

What privacy and security features should I use?
Samsung lists Knox Vault and private albums among the Galaxy A37’s security and privacy features. Its UK product page describes Knox Vault as EAL5+ certified and says private albums can organize sensitive photos. Choose a screen lock that suits your security needs and review what notifications reveal on the lock screen. A private album can help separate selected photos, but it is not a reason to grant unrelated apps broad access to your media or other data.
