The Galaxy A37 5G is the stronger choice if it costs about the same as the Galaxy A36 5G: it brings a newer processor, an updated camera system, Android 16 at launch, and an IP68 rating. The A36 is the better value when it is substantially cheaper, because both phones share a 5,000mAh typical battery, support up to 45W wired charging, and have similar headline rear-camera resolutions. Check local prices, storage options, and carrier compatibility before deciding.
What changed between the Galaxy A37 5G and A36 5G?
The A37’s upgrades are concentrated in its processor, camera hardware and processing, software starting point, and water-and-dust rating. Battery capacity, peak wired charging, and the basic display proposition are largely shared.

| Feature | Galaxy A37 5G | Galaxy A36 5G | What it means |
|---|---|---|---|
| Processor | Exynos 1480 | Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 | The A37 uses a newer platform. Samsung Electronics Indonesia reported up to 14% higher CPU, 24% higher GPU, and 167% higher NPU performance for the A37 versus A36 in its 2026 comparison. These are Samsung figures, not independent benchmark results. |
| Rear cameras | 50MP main, 8MP ultrawide, 5MP macro | 50MP main, 8MP ultrawide, 5MP macro | The resolution labels are the same. Samsung describes an improved ISP, HDR Video support, and 1-micrometer main sensor pixels on the A37; it lists 0.8-micrometer main sensor pixels for the A36. Samsung’s claimed low-light and Nightography gains are promotional claims, not independent camera-test findings. |
| Software at comparison publication | Android 16, One UI 8.5 | Android 15, One UI 7 | These were the versions listed in Samsung Indonesia’s 2026 comparison. Updates may change the A36’s installed version, so check the software version on the specific phone. |
| Water-and-dust rating | IP68 | IP67 | The A37 has the higher rating. Samsung Indonesia describes the ratings as up to 1.5 meters and 1 meter, respectively, in fresh water for 30 minutes. Neither rating means the phone is waterproof. |
| Battery and wired charging | 5,000mAh typical; up to 45W | 5,000mAh typical; up to 45W | No headline battery-capacity or maximum wired-charging upgrade. The A37’s 45W charger is sold separately. |
| Display | 6.7-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED, up to 120Hz | 6.7-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED | Both are built around a large OLED screen; the available A36 product material does not establish a comparable refresh-rate figure here. |
| Software support promise | Up to six generations of Android OS and One UI upgrades; up to six years of security updates | Samsung also advertised six OS upgrades and six years of security updates for the A36 | The A37 starts its support timeline later because it is newer. Samsung says timing varies by device and market, with the period counted from the supported device’s first global launch. |
Is the Galaxy A37 worth more than the A36?
That depends on the actual price difference in your market. Samsung’s US launch announcement set the A37’s starting price at $449.99, with US availability from April 9, 2026; that is a launch price, not a current price comparison with the A36. A universal value verdict is not possible without current prices and matching storage configurations.

- Choose the A37 if the prices are close, or if you specifically want the newer processor, the higher IP68 rating, the newer software starting point, or the camera-processing changes.
- Choose the A36 if it is substantially cheaper and your priorities are a large AMOLED screen, a 5,000mAh typical battery, up to 45W wired charging, and a familiar 50MP/8MP/5MP rear-camera layout.
- Compare like with like: check the same storage tier, local warranty, carrier compatibility, and any discounts or trade-in offers before treating one phone as the better deal.
Does the Galaxy A37 have better battery life or charge faster?
The official materials reviewed list the same 5,000mAh typical battery capacity and up to 45W wired charging for both phones. Those figures do not establish that their real-world battery life or charging times are identical; they do mean the A37 has no stated headline capacity or peak-wattage advantage. Samsung says the A37’s 45W charger is sold separately.

Should you upgrade from the Galaxy A36 to the A37?
An upgrade is most compelling if you want a specific A37 feature—especially IP68, the Exynos 1480 platform, or the camera-system updates—and the trade-in cost makes sense. If the A36 still meets your needs, its shared battery and charging figures and similar camera resolutions make an automatic upgrade harder to justify. Compare the net upgrade cost with how long you expect to keep your A36.

What to check before buying
- Confirm the current price for each phone and compare the same storage configuration.
- Check that the exact model is compatible with your carrier in your country.
- Verify the software version and support details for the specific regional model; update schedules and availability vary by market.
- If you want 45W charging, account for the separately sold A37 adapter if you do not already have a compatible charger.
- Choose a case or screen protector made for the exact phone model; do not assume an A36 accessory fits the A37.
