The Galaxy A36 5G and Galaxy A27 5G share a 6.7-inch, up-to-120Hz Super AMOLED display, a 5,000 mAh typical battery, a 12 MP front camera and Samsung’s stated support policy of up to six generations of OS upgrades and six years of security updates. The A36 has the higher listed charging rate, IP rating and ultrawide and macro camera resolutions. The A27’s cited advantages include a named Snapdragon chipset and microSD expansion on its US configuration. Which costs less depends on country, storage configuration, seller and date; there is no universal price gap.
Galaxy A36 vs A27 5G: key specifications
The table combines Samsung’s UK specifications for the A36 and both UK and US information for the A27. Regional configurations are not necessarily identical, so treat memory, storage and expandable-storage details as SKU-specific rather than universal.

What is the practical difference?
Charging, durability and cameras favor the A36 on paper
The A36’s cited specifications list 45 W charging, compared with 25 W for the A27 in Samsung’s US table, and IP67 instead of IP64. The A36 also has higher-resolution ultrawide and macro modules: 8 MP and 5 MP, versus 5 MP and 2 MP on the A27. These are specification differences, not proof of faster real-world charging, better protection in every situation or superior photo quality. The sources do not provide a comparable camera test.

IP ratings describe tested ingress protection, not immunity from damage. Follow the device guidance and avoid treating either rating as a reason to deliberately expose a phone to water or dust.
The A27 has a named chipset and a cited microSD option
Samsung identifies the A27’s processor as Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 in its US announcement. The UK A36 page reviewed gives processor speeds but does not identify a chipset model, so the available information does not support a direct chipset-versus-chipset conclusion. Samsung’s US A27 table also lists microSD expansion up to 2 TB; confirm that feature on the exact model sold in your market before relying on it.
Shared display and battery capacity do not settle performance
Both phones are listed with a 6.7-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED screen with refresh rates up to 120 Hz and a 5,000 mAh typical battery. Samsung’s UK pages claim up to 29 hours of video playback for the A36 and up to 23 hours for the A27. Those are manufacturer figures, not independent tests, and actual battery life depends on use and conditions. The cited A36 page specifies 1,200 nits; the reviewed A27 materials do not provide a matching brightness figure, so a brightness comparison is not established.

Galaxy A36 vs A27 price difference
Price comparisons only mean something when country, date, RAM and storage, retailer, and promotion status match. Samsung’s US announcement says A27 5G availability begins July 14, 2026, with US pricing starting at $349.99. That is an A27 starting price, not a like-for-like comparison with an A36 price.
In a Samsung Costa Rica shop snapshot crawled the week before October 4, 2026, both 256 GB models were shown at a promotional ₡179,900. The A27 listing showed a regular price of ₡219,900 and the A36 ₡209,900; the A36 was marked “Disponible pronto.” This was a time- and stock-sensitive retailer listing, not a guaranteed current price or evidence that the phones generally cost the same. Check local listings for the exact model and whether the displayed amount is a promotion.

Which should you choose?
- Choose the A36 if the local like-for-like price works for you and you prioritize the higher listed charging wattage, IP67 rating or higher-resolution ultrawide and macro modules.
- Consider the A27 if its exact regional SKU offers useful microSD expansion, or if you specifically want the processor Samsung names in its US announcement.
- Compare the exact local configurations before deciding: RAM, built-in storage, expandable storage, availability and price can vary by market.
- Do not choose on camera quality or chipset performance alone based only on these specifications. No comparable photo test or independent performance benchmark is established here.
Software support and model-specific checks
Samsung states that both models receive up to six generations of OS/One UI upgrades and up to six years of security updates. For the A27, Samsung frames the security-update period from the initial global launch date. “Up to” describes Samsung’s stated support policy; verify the terms and rollout status for the model sold in your country.
