Its value depends on what it costs where you live: compare current local prices with rivals before buying, because the A36’s performance is only midrange and reviewers disagree on how impressive its battery life is.
Samsung Galaxy A36 5G at a glance
The A36 combines a 6.7-inch Full HD+ Super AMOLED display, a 5,000mAh battery and up to 45W wired charging. Its rear cameras cover three roles—a stabilized main camera, an ultrawide and a macro—but there is no telephoto camera in the listed setup. Samsung UK lists IP67 protection and six generations of OS upgrades plus six years of security updates for its UK product listing. Those configuration and support details are market-specific, not a guarantee that every regional version is identical. Samsung UK specifications GSMArena review

What the Galaxy A36 does well
Useful protection and a long support promise
IP67 protection is a practical advantage for accidental exposure to dust or water, although it does not make the phone indestructible or remove the need to follow Samsung’s care guidance. The support commitment is another reason to consider it if you keep phones for years. Check the support terms on Samsung’s page for your country rather than assuming the UK listing applies unchanged elsewhere. Samsung UK

A large, fast OLED display
The 6.7-inch 120Hz Super AMOLED panel gives the A36 a spacious screen for video, browsing and scrolling. GSMArena measured 1,233 nits in its maximum automatic-brightness test and 433 nits at maximum manual brightness. It also reports Samsung figures of 1,200 nits for high-brightness mode and 1,900 nits peak brightness; those manufacturer claims use different conditions and should not be treated as the same result as the review measurements. Tom’s Guide was less impressed by the screen relative to competing AMOLED phones, so brightness numbers alone do not settle which display looks best. GSMArena Tom’s Guide

Faster wired charging than before
The A36 supports up to 45W wired charging. GSMArena says reaching that maximum requires a compatible USB-PD charger and a USB-C cable rated for 5A. Check the contents of the box for the specific regional package; do not assume the required charger is included. GSMArena
Where the A36 falls short
Performance is adequate, not a reason to upgrade
The reviewed A36 uses a Snapdragon 6 Gen 3. Notebookcheck found the performance improvement over the Galaxy A35 barely noticeable and observed occasional stutter in everyday use; Tech Advisor and Tom’s Guide also criticized performance. These are reviewers’ findings on their tested devices, not a guarantee that every task or unit will behave identically. The practical takeaway is to be cautious if you prioritize demanding games, sustained heavy workloads or the fastest-feeling interface for the money. Notebookcheck Tech Advisor Tom’s Guide

Three rear cameras do not mean three equally useful cameras
The 50MP main camera has optical image stabilization, and the ultrawide gives you a wider framing option. The 5MP macro is for close-up subjects, not distant ones: this camera set does not include a telephoto lens. Tom’s Guide criticizes low-light results, so buyers who often photograph night scenes should compare sample images from their local alternatives rather than judging the camera by megapixels alone. GSMArena Tom’s Guide
Battery life depends on the test and your routine
The 5,000mAh capacity is substantial, but it does not establish a fixed runtime. Tech Advisor described two-day battery life in its review, while GSMArena called endurance adequate but not class-leading. Your screen use, mobile signal, workload and other settings all affect how long a charge lasts, so treat those reviews as different experiences rather than a promise of two days. - Look elsewhere or compare carefully if gaming speed, stronger low-light photography or camera zoom is a priority.

Compare local prices before deciding
Review prices and listings from 2025 are historical and cannot establish today’s value. GSMArena names the Nothing Phone (3a) and Motorola Edge 50 Neo as alternatives; Notebookcheck also points to the Poco X7 Pro. Tom’s Guide says the Pixel 9a may be worth a price premium for performance and other features. None is automatically the best choice at every price or in every region. GSMArena Notebookcheck Tom’s Guide
Before choosing, compare the live unlocked and carrier prices for the exact configurations available to you. Weigh everyday and gaming performance, low-light and zoom options, display quality, battery and charging, ingress protection, and the length of software and security support. A price gap can change the answer: the A36 makes more sense when its durability and support advantages matter to you and the alternatives do not offer a stronger overall package for a similar cost.
