The vivo Y51 Pro 5G prioritizes a larger battery, faster rated charging, a 120Hz refresh rate and higher water- and dust-resistance ratings. Their published India prices are not directly comparable as current offers: Samsung’s figures are launch prices, while vivo’s is a shop listing.

Which phone has the better display?
Galaxy A17: higher listed resolution and AMOLED
Samsung specifies a 6.7-inch Full HD+ Super AMOLED display. That makes the A17 the clearer fit if your priority is the higher-resolution panel type among these two specifications.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteY51 Pro: larger screen and higher refresh rate
vivo lists a slightly larger 6.75-inch LCD with 1570 × 720 resolution and refresh rates up to 120Hz. The higher refresh-rate ceiling may matter to readers who value smoother scrolling, but it does not make the screen sharper than the A17’s listed Full HD+ panel.

Battery and charging: capacity is not a runtime test
vivo lists a 7200mAh battery and 44W charging for the Y51 Pro; Samsung lists a 5000mAh typical battery and 25W charging for the A17. These figures give the Y51 Pro the larger stated capacity and higher rated charging power, but they do not establish how long either phone lasts in everyday use or how quickly it charges in practice. No independent, like-for-like battery or charging test is established by the cited sources.
vivo says the Y51 Pro is equipped with its standard charger, specified as an 11V/4A adapter supporting a maximum charging power of 44W. Samsung’s India buy page says the A17 box does not include a travel adapter; check the package for the exact sale region and confirm compatibility if buying a separate adapter.

Camera hardware and video features
The A17 has a listed triple rear-camera setup: a 50MP main camera with optical image stabilization (OIS), a 5MP ultrawide and a 2MP macro camera. vivo lists a 50MP and 2MP rear-camera pair on the Y51 Pro, an 8MP front camera and 4K video recording on its product page.
These are manufacturer-published specifications and features, not evidence that one phone takes better photos or video. The cited material does not establish comparative image quality under the same conditions.

Durability and software support
Water and dust resistance
Samsung specifies IP54 for the A17 and Gorilla Glass Victus protection on the front. vivo lists IP68 and IP69 for the Y51 Pro. These ratings are not a substitute for careful handling, and the supplied specifications do not establish comparative real-world durability.
Software-update commitment
Samsung’s 2025 announcement promises six generations of Android upgrades and six years of security updates from the A17’s first global launch date. Samsung’s India product page gives a security-update period through 31 August 2031. vivo’s cited product page lists Android 16 and OriginOS 6 but does not state a comparable support duration; that omission does not establish that vivo has no update policy.

India price difference by listed variant
| Phone and variant | Price reference | What the figure represents |
|---|---|---|
| Samsung Galaxy A17 5G, 6GB+128GB | ₹18,999 | Samsung Newsroom India launch price in 2025 |
| Samsung Galaxy A17 5G, 8GB+128GB | ₹20,499 | Samsung Newsroom India launch price in 2025 |
| Samsung Galaxy A17 5G, 8GB+256GB | ₹23,499 | Samsung Newsroom India launch price in 2025 |

| vivo Y51 Pro 5G, 8GB+256GB | Not stated on the cited vivo India Shop listing | A comparable price was not established |
The ₹16,000 difference between the Samsung 8GB+128GB launch price and vivo’s 8GB+128GB shop listing is a comparison of different price references, not a verified current street-price gap. Samsung’s figures are launch prices, and vivo’s shop price may change. Check current prices, variant availability, seller and offers for both phones before deciding which is better value.
Which phone should you choose?
- Choose the Galaxy A17 5G if you value its higher-resolution Super AMOLED specification, OIS-equipped triple rear-camera hardware, microSD expansion or Samsung’s stated long-term update commitment.
- Consider the vivo Y51 Pro 5G if your priorities are its larger stated battery, 44W rated charging, up-to-120Hz display refresh rate or IP68/IP69 ratings.
- For a value decision, compare live prices for the same RAM and storage tier. The available price references do not provide a contemporaneous, like-for-like comparison.
The cited official specifications do not settle real-world performance, battery life, camera quality or durability, and vivo’s manufacturer-published AnTuTu figure has no matching Samsung result in the cited official sources for a fair benchmark comparison.
